It is disappointing the band was forced to move away from this music by the industry. This was their true passion. Thank you for saving this recording! Great artwork on full display with this album.
I used to listen to this and sit in my living room to watch my plants grow, they were healthy plants! I think my plants liked the music of "Black Widow" too !
I saw them live in London in 1970 and it changed my life! Great actors they were too! Fantastic show! And next sunday I will play "Sacrifice" in my workshop - for people to dance and release bad vibrations... Funny enough I found them again when arranging Daddy's tapes after he died. He copied the record I had brought from London!!! Amazing, that he had enjoyed that!!! And now, the music in the You Tube!!! Just great the mysteries of life!! Daddy was a fan of cibernetics too, long before it started... So, actually, don't make sacrifices....although the tune is just fantastic!!!
My Father (may he rest in Piece) was a headmaster on a so called Dutch School with The Bible, but that did not prevent me buying several Albums of this Great Satanic Band, still one of my favorite LP's ........
Thanks must go to Ruthless Metal's "Who Invented Heavy Metal?" for introducing me to this unbelievably rad band. One of the first times I have learned about a band and started listening to a full album and then... just ... kept listening. Every time I start it up I listen to the whole thing, because, well, damn. It absolutely rules.
These guys were like the Jethro Tull of satanic music. Coven was probably closer to "metal" and actually the first to really bring satanic left-hand path lyrics and imagery in their music.
This album has truly great songwriting, musicianship and unique atmosphere. Jazzy, bluesy and psychedelic feeling is mixing with sinister and disturbing yet beautiful echoes you can possibly imagine during some Bronze-Age religious rituals:-)
this whole album is a trip man i love the diverse sounds, like the clarinet bossa-nova break in Seduction, and the flute in Attack of the Demon before it turns into this funky prog thing straight from Yes' playbook
The Favorites in all the best crazy, psychedelic Youngster-time. Oh Lord, makes on Date with this Guys in Rest Of Time. Music is . . . . GOD! thanks for Upload !!! In Love MS Germany Giessen Hessen ca. 1970 ff.

awesome debut album from english prog rock band black widow, it makes you feel you are on a music trip you don't want to end. i love it so damm good. love the sounds in this band. what an album.
Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum Is this one of your favourite albums like it is mine? I love it love it love it LOVE IT! I knew Kip and Clive great people. This is a brilliant and magical album. I love Black Widow.
Benjamin Blake Mitchner yeah one of the better prog rock albums i have heard. not heard too much black widow apart from this album. but still leaves a good impression on me.
Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum This is their best album. Much tighter and more focused than a lot of other progressive and period albums for a Satanic edged one. Some stuff is embarrassing like have you heard the Dr. Z record on Vertigo? Three Parts to My Soul horrible! Check it out to laugh at it or cry. It depends on your pain threshold!
Nope i have not heard that one, but it is sparking my intrest. Mind you a band i like that is real fucked up on satan stuff coven. Even though i am a christian man. I like their odd ball stuff. They even signed a contract with their own blood, now that is fucked up.
Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum I'm Christian too. I Love Coven, but yes they are fucked up. It's all a load of nonsense Satanism is stupid. Dr. Z is horrible. You're supposed to believe he goes to Hell and is miserable blah blah blah really stupid. Horrible voice. Horrible keyboard player. Terrible production and no good songs. Garbage. It might make you laugh or vomit it depends on how you perceive it.
Best listened to on a hot/warm night outside, in the dark or with candle light. Also good on a hot/warm sunny day, outside with plenty of green vegetation around you... Especially under the influence lol
Ah fuck yes,the now infamous BLACK WIDOW,from ENGLAND,JUST FUCKING LOVE THIS FUCKING BAND,I ONLY WISH 🌠 THAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET INTO THIS FUCKING AWESOME 🙆 BAND BACK IN THE DAY 🙆 😈
I've found it! Someone I knew years ago played this for me but he wouldn't put it on tape for me, and I forgot their name. I remember the 'I conjour thee, appear!' bit from the first song.
I always felt this album was similar to Coven's Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls (1969) although it predates Sacrifice. Sure there are differences such as Coven featuring a female vocalist (Jinx Dawson) and more similar to Jefferson Airplane, and Black Widow had more of a Jethro Tull feel to it (particularly the flute and David Palmer-like orchestrations). Both fearing openly satanic lyrics, both quickly receiving bad publicity causing both to tone their image down with subsequent albums toning down or downright dropping those satanic lyrics. I happen to love both albums.
not religious but this one of all time favourites. early ninety's up on Dartmoor with friends, camp fire flicking shadows in the trees, and magic mushrooms. wow. 20 years later I still drive around Dartmoor in the early hours alone now blairing out this album and black widow black widow tears and wine to legends of creation I still have not found any like this........... any suggestion welcome. I want more truly original music with depth and genius thanx a million black widow
there's ghost a that is similar in the sense that they're satanic, they're good but it's a bit more metal. you could give them a listen. I cant promise that they're up your alley though.
"Come to the Sabbath" is an ulitmate proof for superiority of the English accent. This is the only area, where the invitation to spend a night on evil chanting with Old Harry himself can sound with so clear a suggestion of tea and bisquits.
I used to have this album many moons ago and funny enough I found out that they are from my home town Leicester, where they found Richard the third in a car park you never know black widow might bring him back from the dead.
this album has a very special place in my heart. it has a vibe and mood like no other.

Thank you!
Yeah, ta.
But its not called "Come to the Satan's Sabbath" its called : Come To The Sabbat".
@@MysticalWitch68 i think they said that to riff on the lyrics lol
The name of the song 6 is wrong? I look for it on apple music and the song "attack of the demon" is enterily different.
It is disappointing the band was forced to move away from this music by the industry. This was their true passion. Thank you for saving this recording! Great artwork on full display with this album.
Tengo el vinilo y lo estoy escuchando en este momento bebiendo una copa de vino saludos desde Chile

You seem like a pretty cool dude to me!

@Fran Cesco Yes, I also passionately love white widows on occasion¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sacrifice song was once my favorite tune, when driving a car , while speeding or doing risky maneuvers. It turns me into sort of hooligan mood
@Hawkeye Pierce perfect answer to the police :-)))))

Such a beautiful music, that nobody would buy today.

I would. I was born In 1985 and Black Sabbath has been and always will be my favorite band…also a huge fan of mercyful fate

You should check out Coven too. Their first album Witchcraft is great. Dignitaries of Hell and Wicked Woman slap. Female front too. Great voice.

Jerusalem same titled album from 1971 was one the first "Heavy Metal" albums ever... heavier than Sabbath.
@@progrockjournalnot close to being heavier than sabbath and that album is ok.
I still have this on an old record album. It was my dads from the 70s. He said they used to play it backwards
ANNIHILATION TV praise Jesus when played backwards .....
@ANNIHILATION TV maybe not a message, but a cool idea with a satanic album. You gotta admit it's clever
@ANNIHILATION TV of course it needs to played backwards .How else is the glorious 'upside-down ohm riff' going to be located ?

Nor Prog for you?
Check out the band Comus, in particular "Diana"
ok pazuzu
"A song to Comus" was the first song that got me into them, my respects to obscure psychedelia from the 70s! The best!!

42 años escuchando rock y hasta ahora conozco esta banda. Muy bien sincronizada, llevan el viaje por pasajes profundos de notas muy armónicas.
Not what I was looking for, but I’m happy to say I found what I needed.

Released on march 1970, some weeks after BLACK SABBATH's eponymous debut [13.2.1970]
@Mr. Darko that's rigth. Don't forget El Ritual, from Mexico.
And yet "Black Sabbath" the song, makes this whole album sound like a summer beach movie gone wrong.
