Let the journeymen fight each other and give them a journeyman champion belt
Never sleep on a journeyman , he can really box , definition of a boxer who’s seen it all except the nod
"Boxing isn't a sport, it's a business." Very profound. I give these guys all the credit in the world. Seems like one of the toughest ways there is to make a living.
And the thing is, when a journeyman wins, the number of fights he gets offered drops. So it's in his financial interests to lose fights.
I can’t believe people only just found this out BOXING HAS ALWAYS BEEN THIS ALWAYS WILL BE
why do you think people didnt know?
Osbre cos there’s a documentary trying to educate people on it 🤨also this comment section
I've only just found out ! I though I knew alot about boxing to.. I study boxing alot... this one beat me .
@Man Dendon boxing won't ever die it's too big to fail. In terms viewership the only other sporting events that surpass boxing are of global scale attendance. In order of viewership: the summer games, the winter games and the Tour de France. I've shifted to watching more mma than boxing over the years and I love it and even practice but there's no denying boxing is miles ahead in popularity.
@@SuperAguaUFC has made boxing completely irrelevant 😂
Big time respect for these guys
Shame but I'd fight 50 journeymen then retire to have a better record than Mayweather 😂
Journeymen won't get you the Title, and there are a lot of Gatekeepers between you and the Title
They would call you Paul spadafora in the US
Seems like Wilder is gonna do that before you.
Why do I think of wilder when I hear journey man
TimelineProvision TP because he is one 😂
The boxing boards should do a tournament for the journey men
Wouldnt sell
Very true but it's a shame though Cause majority would come to win!
@@arvmittoo11 yeah but all pro fighters 'come to win' so it wouldn't be any different.
@@BlacksmithBets journeymen dont come to win hence this documentary
Bare that in mind whenever you head a boxer has an amazing record like 40 (39)-0
Dennis S I love that I know which boxer you’re talking about and it’s about time he fought a real opponent and he lost 😂
Probably 10-15 fights are just journeyman.
We all know who he's talking about lol. (Even though the record has recently changed). What's understood doesn't have to be explained. 🤣🤣🤣
Wilder
These guys are like offensive linemen in football... Unsung warriors.
Listening to that fucking song they kept blaring caused me more brain damage than the journeymen suffered their entire careers combined
My power Peter Buckley he is the epitome of a journeyman world record never lost disgracefully he’s had more fights than some town’s I’ve had fights with all their boxes put together, Credit to the sport
Totally unsurprised. No manager wants to put a promising up and comer against someone who has a serious chance of winning. I find something admirable about this guy's heart. Yes the punters kid themselves it's a fair fight, but they're probably the same people who thought WWE was true until their late teens. They get a show - they just don't realise that the outcome is predecided.
This would've had way more views if the title opener was "The Men Who Fight To Lose" then they write the Journeymen
@Shlomo Golnenbaum Shekelberg This comment made my day and it wasnt even towards me..
Keep being you, you fantastic human being👊
i love you cause the guys comment above me is positive.
Click bait😂😂😂
Well said Johnny
Respect to these guys some of the journeyman are the best boxers going but choose not to be for money but are better than the ones that win
I wonder how often it happens that the guy that's supposed to win gets hit in the guts and ribs so much he doesn't come out of his corner.
whats fucked aout boxing is that you can pick and choose who you fight. it should be you have to fight everyone in your weight class in the league
That only goes so far that’s why you don’t see as many unified champions, if you try to hold the unified belt every time you turn around each organization will demand that you fight the number one contender so you would have to consistently fight the person most likely to beat you, so what they do is just vacate a belt or 2 and fight the number one contender of a different organization… or they’ll leave and vindicate whatever belt they have, and they’ll go get a belt from a different organization to avoid a fight, BUT, they can’t just hold onto their belt without fighting the number one contender like people think they can
Romeo not boxed for two years
Had a car crash
The. Hardest of men making a living the hardest way possible. All to put food on the tables of there families.
They'd get food either way
Proper feel for these guys, How do they become Pro in the first place? They must have had some decent Amateur record?
To become a pro boxer at least in the states is really easy. All you have to do is pay a fee and get signed off by medical professionals. I don’t think there’s any record requirement. What an amateur record gets you is a chance for being signed for a promotion
@lowestcommonDenomanator In my state I think they require at least 4 amature fights but yes it's very easy to go pro. I watch a pro debut and he fought a journeyman it was a 20 second ko
@@VegasVenturesNWA Yeah as long as you have decent defense and a good chin i think being a journeyman is a very solid gig. Look up Lewis Van Poetsch, he has over 150 losses and has only had one stoppage, being the paper cup to be crushed by the upcoming prospects is his whole thing.
Real life glass joe
these guys are heroes. real life modern day roman coliseum gladiators.
can't you bet on these fights though?
U can bet on pretty much anything nowadays..
Sure at 200 to 1
Odds makers know that dud it's their jobe, you'd have to bet your car to win 1 dollar
I would go 6 round once a month for 1200 better than working 20 days a month
hahaha
You get paid 1.2k a month?
You could do a part time job as well in between fights
D1 1.2k a month doesn't sound all that bad idk what you're complaining about lol
permanent brain damage for 1200 a month😂
This is a one sided look at this. There'll be all different journeymen with slightly different skill sets to allow a young fighter to become more rounded before he will be moved on. It'd be like in snooker where there'll be a qualifying tournament to get to the preliminaries before going on to play in the world championship. What this report seems to be suggesting is to eradicate journeymen and have young fighters in more danger than their skill set would permit.
💭💭💭💭💭
More danger? No just better fights
You are talking about gatekeepers, journeyman are no qualifiers.
Yeah but the major fights are proper when u get 2 44 and 0 fighters against eachother.
Yeah those and title eliminators
so i googled the "future world champ". He retired after his next fight, and his name IS Romeo Casanova Valentino Romaeo, lol
Got into a big car accident, not his fault
Him and his dad are the biggest wierdos i ever met in boxing
I think this should not be allowed
Technically, it isn't.
This should be illegal… definitely not putting the blame on the guys that are doing it but the whole way that the system works… like they said the fight is put together by the guy that’s supposed to win, so that just is corruption right from the conception of the card
good music at the start.
These lessons apply to basically all pro sports.
I dunno man I had my 2nd fight againts a journey man tonight low level of course and I lost it was tought but they come down for a reason these guys fight some tough guys at high yes ok I’m not saying world
Champions but it gets the rounds in for em
The first question.😂😂😂
He’s okay w second place I’m not lol u can either be making money or just barely getting by u can be champion or feel the rush off of “yeah I fought that guy” but that’s him
Respect to Greaves
so if u lose u become a journeyman unless you were one to start
Surely this is a way to cte?
Youd be surprised of how little knockouts they have. Look at Kristian Laight. 300 fights 279 loses. Only 5 KO’s and some of those were bad stoppages by the ref
@@feorgenotgloyd7624 That itself shows they have mad skill and probably more than capable to win against his opponents. But he is paid to go easy
@@crux33 for sure.
What's the funk tune?
Vitamin C - Can
Robert Lough 😅😂
so rocky beat alot of journey men
Yes
What is journey man
This entire video is the answer to that question
@@Pypicalthank u🎉
Radio shows have audiences. SPECTATORS attend boxing tournaments.
Heartbreaking...
oh come on. how is that heartbreaking? far worse things in the world
@@frankj2879 I know man but most of these people probably picked up boxing dreaming of glory and wealth only to give up and settle for almost nothing which is in my opinion the picture of defeat.
@@dincaalexandru2831I get what u are say. but as a fighter myself (5 amateur Muay Thai. lost 2, won 2 and drew 1) I honestly don't see become a journeyman to be a great failure. as long as I can make money from this sport I love instead of having to sit at a desk from 9 - 5 I'll be a winner
@@frankj2879 i guess you are right too ...never thought about it this way
@@frankj2879 I wouldn’t care if they were guys that just lost a lot because they sucked… every fighter should be required to be trying to win the fight
CAN fucks, great music choice
I wonder if these dudes could actually win if they tried?
There are some famous and great journeyman. Guys who come to mind are Emmanuel Augustus, James J Braddock, and Darnell Boone.
Flowenol Cinur Butterbean was pretty good aswell
@@redundantfridge9764 Augustus WAS NOT a journyman wtf, guy always fought his heart out but judges just didn't like the guy. Mayweather said he was the toughest he faced and (id say) has a convincing win against ward. Guy was actually a world champion at one point
It's their job to help the boxers gain experience
this is why MMA is so much better, spot a journey man in mma.
Ever heard of Bob Sapp?
It's exactly the same. I am one
These guys are not true journeyman fighters, they may have journeyman expierience, skills or abilities but they don't do justice to the proud title of a true journeyman boxer. Basically they're in there as a paid tomato can and want to fight as safe, often and long (career longevity I mean)...
Tomishek (guy who fought Tommy Morrison), monte barrett, Mickey ward (kind of at the end of his career), david Allen... these were at some point or currently are, journeymen
Where are these guys in mma???
They're EVERYWHERE! The "badass" who won the smoker down the street, had an affliction shirt and scary tattoos.... his record isn't actually 12-3. Its probably closer to 16 and 30.
There's so many different organizations and "leagues" for professional MMA it's hard to track all the fighters. Also, MMA events on PPV or primetime are just like boxing in who they feature. Top 15% or elite guys fighting for a strap, eliminators for a shot at a strap, the occasional potential next big thing against a true veteran/ journeyman and former or next in line champs getting a paid tune up getting fed the occasional 1 fight contract new guy with a souped up record from UBF (ultimate bar fights) with a pro mma record of 19-3 making his UFC debut (and farewell until we need another stand in).
Sam Hansen Micky was at least world champ
Modern day roy nelson?
In wrasstling it's jobbers
Boxer like thumbs up sign
What is wrong with losing? they get paid too
whats wrong with it is its deceitful to the audience. hhahaha
lowlowseesee no it isn’t. These guys aren’t taking dives. Promoters hire them to make the opposite side look good. The journeymen are there to win, but they simply can’t because they aren’t on the same level.
They are professional boxers. To them it is a job.
@@kevinarzola4781 did you just not watch the video or did you not comprehend it?
They are absolutely losing on purpose. That was the whole point of the video.
To start with, it’s illegal
That is terrible term
What a joke. Boxing is more bent than Pro Wrestling.
+TheLastFraudster
I used to think mma was more unpredictable than boxing but the gap is a lot closer if for the first 20 fights most pro's wernt looked after
Mark O
I disagree. The best fighters fight average fighters they can't lose to the majority of the time. In MMA, they are matched up very competitively most of the time, plus there's so many more ways to win it naturally makes the sport far more unpredictable. No doubt with more and more money going into MMA now though it'll soon become as much of a joke as boxing is.
