- A boy, who is now 10 years old, confessed to an unsolved murder from 2022, Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday. But GCSO said he will not be charged with the crime because he committed it before the age of culpability.

This boy is a psychopath. He willfully ended someone and it was perfectly legal. There are victims in this boy's future if he isn't locked up.

Its absolutely insane how dense you people in the comments are. Its almost as if you're incapable of knowing or understanding how underdeveloped a 7yo is, or how immature their mentality is. ALL humans are born acting like animals, its simply because we get trained everyday for years and years until we become adults that we're able to control our natural instincts. It's probably all, "he's just a kid. He doesn't know any better." But they neglect the fact that there are child killers throughout history. This lad is no different from them. He doesn't need excuses. He needs punishment and a psychological evaluation.
He could be a product of his upbringing, which is really sad, but as the damage is done, it needs to be corrected. Otherwise, this kid can't function in society later in life.

All humans are cold-blooded animals when theyre young, with a very minor sense of empathy for anything. This varies from kid to kid, and is more prominent with females than males, but its true. We are all animals deep down, it simply takes many years of learning to behave like civilized people for us to learn to control and suppress it.
The people who live out in the wilderness of certain areas are the same exact humans that we are, and yet they will kill people without hesitation for simply getting close. Many of these people have, and will, eat you. Thats what happens when humans arent taught to be civilized, and that is within ALL of us.

Gonzales county is full of m.thed up adults with children and while not all the children are exposed to violence and craziness, a great many of them are. It isn't that a gun was accessible that caused the CHILD to m.rder a supposedly complete stranger while he was sleeping. Stuff happened to that child. Clearly he was not being monitored. And my biggest question is, why did he feel at ease going into that particular trailor??? How did he know THAT was the time and place to kill??? Stop being dense. 7 yr olds are not like this unless something pushes them. He did not randomly choose an rv or go in there not knowing the lay out and he knew the man was already passed out. Although, even just assuming it was an accident takes a sinister turn. Let's say he was pretending to drive his grandads truck, like most 7 year olds do. Found a gun in the glove box, walked around the trailer park for a bit and then decided to walk into someone's home (weird). Shoots the gun at a sleeping man and then shoots the sofa (even more weird).

They just found the gun at the pawn shop. The murder was two years ago. I doubt the pawn shop would be in business letting things sit for two years without selling. He didn't pawn it right away.

The poor father. Not only did he lose his son, he lost him to a child who didn’t care at all, killed him for no reason whatsoever, and who is going to get away with it without being reprimanded at all. Someone else will lose their life to that kid if he isn’t locked up now. He threatened another child at school and he’s 10. 3 years later and he shows no remorse or regret for what he did, he just bragged about it. People think 10 is young, but all 10 year olds know what they’re doing. They know right from wrong, especially something so basic as to not kill other people.

7 is not old enough to know how serious this kind of thing is. Thats the entire point behind the law. The brain isn't developed enough to understand long-term consequences, the finality of death, etc. These are issues even for TEENS, let alone a 7yo or 10yo. What happened is obviously tragic. The real person who should be held accountable here is the grandparent or parent. Your 7yo was able to leave, get a loaded gun out of your car, go into a random persons house and shoot them while also shooting the couch, and you didn't realize that?

Humans are naturally this way, its only due to years of training from civilized society that allows you and I to think the way we do. After all, the humans that existed 300 years ago who had no problem owning slaves, or the people alive today in isolated tribes in the wilderness who will kill you without hesitation, or the people in cultures who practice cannibalism, etc are all humans just like us. The difference is only due to the culture you're raised in and how well your parents were at instilling that culture in you.

He bragged about it to another child and even threatened that child. Even if at the time he was “not of the age to understand what he was doing”, at a later age, he is now admitting to it and how he did know what he was doing. He said he just did it because he saw that man walking around the neighborhood. How should he not be charged if he’s admitting to it at a later age and is bragging about it, showing no remorse whatsoever? At the age of 10, he is definitely aware enough. People underestimate how conscious and aware children are, and like to believe they don’t know what they’re doing.

That kid is a murderer, regardless of age. He literally walked up to a sleeping man he had absolutely no reason to even care about, let alone be mad at, and shot him in the head. Did you not watch the video? The kid was 7yo when it happened, and you're not legally culpible for breaking the law at that age. Its not like they can wait until he's an adult and then charge him as an adult. You get charged based on the age you were when you committed the crime, not your age now, or when they discover the crime, etc.
The age at the time matters. They may never charge him. This doesn't have to do anything with the statute of limitations.

If his door had been locked, the kid might have just looked for a different victim. If the vehicle had been locked, or the gun wasn't loaded, or if the gun wasn't where a child could access it, the victim would still be alive.

This happened two plus years ago. Pawn shops don't hold things for over 2 years usually a month or two and Grandpa probably wouldn't have pawned it if he knew a murder had been committed. No one heard the shots? The police didn't investigate the neighbors?

The justice system should charge the grandfather for leaving the gun in the glove compartment. Nevertheless, I have not heard any information the grandfather knew what his grandson had done. If he knew this, he would have disposed of the weapon and not just pawn it. Unless the grandfather is dumb as a doorbell.

Worst detectives ever. Outsmarted by a 7 y/o for 2 years & couldn't find weapon that was sitting in pawn shop. I'm guessing they weren't trying at all. Shameful.

@@417jumps3Most of the states don't have an age of criminal responsibility. But Texas has one and set it at 10 years. So a DA pressing charges against him would violate his rights.

i watched a documentary of murderers and one was a man, who killed several people. It began as woman talking about her 3 year old son!.. He was sitting on the family dog using a needle stabbing at the dog in it's belly. She heard the Yelps. She deduced that this son of hers was going to be trouble in the future.

It's very sad and crazy the other day I saw about eight kids riding on bicycles with the oldest kid being about 14 I'm the youngest kid being about 8 and all the little kids just following the older kids lead and he was saying the n-word left and right and cutting off traffic.. this is bad for youth
If a child is old enough to kill that child needs to put in custody. Culpability age needs to be lowered.
I disagree because it opens too many doors. Lower the age for that you have to lower it for everything else
7 is not old enough to know how serious this kind of thing is. Thats the entire point behind the law. The brain isn't developed enough to understand long-term consequences, the finality of death, etc. These are issues even for TEENS, let alone a 7yo or 10yo. What happened is obviously tragic. The real person who should be held accountable here is the grandparent or parent. Your 7yo was able to leave, get a loaded gun out of your car, go into a random persons house and shoot them while also shooting the couch, and you didn't realize that?
I'm more than willing to bet that this child thought that the gun was "cool" and wanted to see what it would do. He shot someone and probably didnt even know what actually happened.
Humans are naturally this way, its only due to years of training from civilized society that allows you and I to think the way we do. After all, the humans that existed 300 years ago who had no problem owning slaves, or the people alive today in isolated tribes in the wilderness who will kill you without hesitation, or the people in cultures who practice cannibalism, etc are all humans just like us. The difference is only due to the culture you're raised in and how well your parents were at instilling that culture in you.

So many of these comments are advocating for him to be imprisoned for life, which would likely be over 70 years, for something that he did at 7 years old. A child at that age does not have the mental capacity to realize and understand the gravity of the situation and its consequences. That's exactly why you have to keep guns unloaded and secured when around children. It's tragic for everyone involved, no way around that. I feel so horrible thinking about how that kid must have felt about this for the past three years. His brain still has over a decade before its completely developed, sentencing him to life in prison would be cruel in every sense of the word. The most important thing is for him to receive therapy at such a critical point in his life so he won't end up devastatingly traumatized from this.
The comments on here are almost as shocking as the kid’s story. If we as a society can not rehabilitate a clearly damaged young child then we are the monsters. This kid needs serious help not condemnation
