Same, I’m from NY so rats get a bad wrap in my fam but I love them. I only just convinced my parents to let me get a hamster and that was a stretch.

You are so composed and constructive, which I really appreciate. When one of them came up I literally went “What the f” out loud because I was so shocked at how small it was - your approach is a lot kinder haha! I think people are very unfair; you’ve already shared plenty of advice about appropriate rat care, and shaming people by being overly harsh is not going to encourage them to follow your advice. People can be very stubborn when they’re told they’re doing something wrong, and I think your gentler criticisms is less likely to get people defensively refusing to take your advice. It’s a shame people don’t do much research before getting pets, and a lot of places don’t give appropriate information.
I won’t lie when I open my emails and messages sometimes there’s definitely an audible “what the fuck” that comes from me behind closed doors 😂😅 got to try and keep it together though
You’re so polite. One of these made me gasp at how small it was and you were like “I think it’s a BIT too small :)”. I respect how constructive yet nice you’re being
Apparently I’m not being firm enough but people have told me I’m too rude and negative in the past so I feel like I can’t win. I’m trying to find a balance but I get shocked by things too I just don’t want to overly show it because offending the person may put them off from taking my advice ☺️

I don't know if you'll see this but I'm Sarah! The one with Bubble and Squeak. I am in the process of investing in a much larger cage, but as I am not working right now it's a little rough. I do let them out almost all of the time, and I have switched the floor of the cage to bedding and now scatter feed them. They have a dig box outside of their cage, that wouldn't fit inside. I'm trying to get a bigger cage!
Your rats are adorable 🥰 It's nice you can let them out for the majority of their time. For now you can make their playing area really fun and set up a playpen so that the cage door can be open at night and they have the play area to play in. I'm sure you can find good ideas here and I also have a few videos on how to set it up 🥰
Have you looked online for second hand? Sometimes can get big ones second hand for cheaper xx
I would really recommend the cosy pet cages im looking at the RC02 cosy pet cage and it is really cheap for what it is. X

The cage at 7:20 is the a&e "nibbles" deluxe 2 level small animal cage. Dimensions are 32"×21"×26". It's meant more for Guinea pigs but is really too small for them even.
Yeah that cage is way to small for guinea pigs! I cant’ think of any animals it would be suitable for?

I'm pretty sure the cage with the wire shelves is one of the rat manor cages and that the cage found in the attic is one of the small Pawhut cages, maybe the rabbit hutch one
I started watching your channel and relized that my three girls needed ladders and hamacks and i purchessed some!
This actually gives me a lot of inspiration for my hamsters cages - whilst they are ground dwellers and I wouldn't feel comfortable providing them with lots of climbing toys due to their WoNdErFuL ability to jump off things and hurt themselves, it helps me figure out how best to arrange items to make the most use of the space and also get some ideas for themes
I think the South African Gug's cage is Great!...Happy Rats!!

Watching this video breaks my heart that I was keeping my boys in such a small cage! I now have a cage (36 in x 25 in/91 cm x 53 cm) for 3 boys. (Bubble passed away so I got Squeak to baby brothers) I also scatter feed them/ give them their food in foraging toys, I have a loose substrate on the bottom. I feel bad for how I was caring for my boys but I'm happy I've grown and am giving my current boys much better care :)

At 14:31 that’s the wheel I use for my mice! Would never think to use it for rats because of the size of it…

Hi I love your videos and just wanted to say that the cage at around 4:41 is the appropriate size for 2 rats it is 6 square feet, I personally have it and will also be making some changes to my setup based on your advice
when ever i get my rats chew toys they dont use them, but when they have a hammock they chew through it

I have the large cage in the one with the plastic door it's a great cage but the small really isn't all that suitable in size but at least she has it set up as well as it can be and it's very clean too and the base is really deep.

My cage has the wire drop tray bottom and I put giant pieces of fleece that I fold into layers and stuff over the wire bottom for them to stand on at the bottom, and they only poop in one corner so I leave a small section in that corner open so the potty drops down and then I can just machine wash their fleece and replace it

The first person made me laugh a little, I have five rats and three of them are named Cookie, Cream and Coffee :D Love these names. I always get a new pair or three babies from the same litter and give them names starting with the same letter, my older ladies are named Happy, Heidi and Hera (she unfortunately passed away in November last year)

The second cage is exactly what I have!
I notice that several rat cages shown have toys and bedding suspended with shower curtain rings. The ones that are shaped like keyholes or light bulbs, with a large round end and a smaller narrow end. No! NO!! Someone I knew of had her rat hang itself when the shower curtain ring reversed, with the smaller end downward, and the rat caught its head and neck, during a fall. The rat was killed. NEVER use any hanger with a wide end and narrow end, as it's just asking for a tragedy.

The Rat Manor cage (the person who was going to get two female rats and you didn't know what cage it was) is in fact big enough for two rats, I want to say three even (but please look into it if looking to buy). I used to have that cage and I researched it but can't remember everything. It's nice to start out with but I like my DCN much better.
Unfortunately at least by U.K. standards it’s far too small for even 2 rats ☹️
