Thank you Gray Clark. That is the best cover of Freight Train yet.
Did Elizabeth Cotton song justice!!!! Thanks Gary great job on one of my favorites Songs !!!
I cannot love this enough!
Gary Clark Jr's cover of Elizabeth Cotten's Freight Train (original) tell me that the blues and history will never die. Much respect to Gary Clark.
Folk*
Un bel hommage à une très grande artiste malheureusement méconnue en France.
C'est vrai 👍!❤️ Macron est plus connu que gary CLK junior ! Quelle indignité 😵
There is so much emotion in this song thank u for redoing it and sharing it with the world
Worth noting that Elizabeth Cotten would play a right hand guitar upside down, so the thumb parts would be on the higher string. Which makes switching back to right hand like Gary is doing a good bit more difficult
I keep coming back to this. It rings true.
wow.... just found this by chance... great singer... beautiful
He puts soul into blues it’s a blessing
Great sounds...Great job Gary Thanks for the post...

@@1439of2000 Very nostalgic. Truth is I really can't get into more than an hour of this period of music. She wrote “Freight Train” It was her baby she's going to do it perfectly.
Apparently, Gary's version was authentic enough to be used in the film along with “When the Sun Goes Down”. I've noticed some people nitpick everything
Gary plays and it gets pretty boring. The masses love his playing. It's pretty much the same critics.
The ones that do this, are obsessed and think it's their duty to tell everyone that Gary has no talent and he never should have won his 4 Grammys and they should listen to Joe Bonamassa and John Mayor instead.
Gary has a way of keeping the audience excited.
Joe and John are good but their sound is pretty tiring after awhile. SRV could play for 3 encores and the audience always wanted more. The same with Gary.
I'd say Joe and John need to work on their showmanship a bunch.
Anyway, the critics that follow Gary and try to steer the listeners away are goofy. I intend to identify and steer the disgruntled critics away.
The difference between me and you is I don't go to Joe Smoes to critique.
13 y.o. muireann bradley could play/sing circles around this version.
What guitar is this?
Can somebody tell me what is the name of this type of particular guitar finger picking where your thumb plays the bass notes and other fingers play solo part?? please
"Cotten Picking"
travis picking
malafede Look up ragtime blues. Lot's of open chords with an added melody in the higher frequencies.
Gabriel Harris Yeah, the alernating thumb bass is critical.
malafede its called cotten picking made famous by my grandmother libba cotten
pardon Thanks to "lelive" for the post ,,, sounds via Gary
Shout out Mississippi John Hurt
people love to cover songs and not sing the melody
he can be a bit better with the guitar the voice tone matches the feeling she gives
Quelle horreur par rapport à l'original...
yeah, but .. nah.
That is awful!
