    The directions on the back of the kit say “DO NOT coat the post with grease”. It just says to clean them, and coat the washers with grease. Just a heads up. If it worked for you, thats awesome. But them putting the DO NOT in caps makes me a lil nervous to do it.

    I am a 70 years old lady on a fixed income and I have been forced to learn how to fix lots of things at home from plumbing to little things in my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. I got tired of my battery from Walmart dying so fast and decided to patronize my local AutoZone and the young fellow sold me this package which I did not know how to use I decided to You Tube it and voila I found your short video and I went and did it. Let see how it goes. I will let you know.

  • @mustangtg
    @mustangtg Před 10 dny

    About the positive end that wouldn’t tighten down…loosen the bolt and push the terminal further down on the post. Battery posts are tapered. The bottom of the post is bigger that the top. With the washers installed, extra effort must be applied to fully seat the terminal on the post. Only tighten the bolt to make the terminal snug on the post. That being said, terminal will stretch to a degree over time and will need to be replaced eventually.

    The silicone grease/dielectric grease isn't conductive. You remove and clean the posts and the terminals, then put them back on and tighten, then you put the grease on, to protect the terminals and posts

    On your loose battery clamp, just loosen the nut and spread the clamp with a flathead screwdriver. Push the clamp down hard and tighten the clamp. Terminals are tapered and your clamp is too high where the terminal is skinnier.

  • @tuber411
    @tuber411 Před rokem

    Dielectric grease is meant to be an insulator and not a conductor. You application on the post is making it a conductor by getting between the terminal ends and post. Read the directions or watch videos from the manufacturer. Other tubers may have incorrect info even though they sound very confident.

    I thought you were supposed to put that stuff over the connection after you have cleaned the terminals to prevent anything from getting in (like oxygen). Like a prophylactic over the new battery and freshly cleaned clamps? I also heard that grease wasn't conductive grease. I don't know what to believe anymore.

    Do not forget if you have a heavy built of corrosion on your battery that can indicate that there's other problems internally.
    Battery corrosion is a poor conductor of electricity, as it increases resistance within the circuit
