  • April and Elisa visit the house where Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? was filmed. Elisa nearly dies with joy.
The house was owned by Holocaust survivor and author Sara Lumer, who recently passed away. The family held an estate sale and soon this amazing home will go up for sale.

    Greetings from the UK.
Great tour of the house. I know that the
Driveway gates are not the original ones,
    but the porch ones are.
I am really sorry to disappoint, but in the
movie it was only the exterior of the house that was used for filming. The interiors were done in the sound stage studios. They did not use any of the inside for filming. Great video tour
    Thanks

I am so happy to finally have seen the inside of the Baby Jane home. I absolutely loved the whole house, including the beautiful Iron gate and fence. I also loved the garage where Jane would pull her big Lincoln convertible in. I never noticed the pool in the movie, of course that might have been built in later or they just didn't film it in the movie. Were they having an auction there? I figured at first they were doing a tour of the house, but I noticed when the piano had a sold sign, and all the shoes and clothes that were priced, that this must have been a silent auction or something, either way this was a terrific video! Thank you so much, I've always loved the movie "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane", and of course love Betty Davis and Joan Crawford. Loved this house! Thanks again!!!

Always fascinating to take a peek into the past, especially the storied past. The gates over the front entrance are those seen in the movie. The foyer/staircase is definitely not. Much of the movie was undoubtedly shot on a soundstage. Your shot of the rear wall/doorway in the kitchen looks like it was used in the picture? The kitchen sink appears to be in the same location. Different updated bay window over the sink. The small room leading from the kitchen out to the side/driveway door looks original to the picture. Their was a hot water heater in the rear right corner of that small room in the film, but it has since been relocated. The garage, which has since been converted into living space, was undoubtedly used in the film. The front gates across the drive are in the same location, but are different than those in the film. I see the burglar bars on the upper windows over the drive have since been removed. The windows replaced with new. With all that said, I still thoroughly enjoyed your short tour. I am curious, is the homes owner "Sara Lumer" still with us or has she passed? Thank you for the upload. Thumbs way up! Ps. Did you happen to notice the balled up piece of writing paper lying on the drive? Lol... "It's not me who needs a doctor Blanche." Lol...

If you look at the kitchen entrance, left of the stairs, sometimes you can see into the kitchen and at least once, there seems to be a featureless backdrop. The latter is no doubt a studio mock-up.

This film is tough to watch. This very scenario played out between my elderly mother and my mentally disturbed sister in my parents' home after my father had died.To keep a sense of humor about the ordeal I began referring to my mother as Blanche and my sister Baby Jane Smithers. It ended just as tragically. it's been difficult to get over the horror that such a thing could happen in real life, but it did.

Wow. My wife's mom took her family to see this movie after it was released. She bought the VHS tape & memorized it. I had a huge red Baby Jane bow made for her which she would actually wear to parties in full make-up as a gag, but without the dress & would sing "I've Written A Letter To Daddy" & folks loved it...after the initial shock. She said "some little girls grow up thinking their behavior is still cute as mature women & I'm one of them." OK!! I saw the movie with her for the 1st time in the 80's and was certain the house was in Hancock Park. This video confirmed everything. "Remember the year you made that pitcha'?

You really should see the movie. Bette Davis and Joan Crawford hated each other, but they were aging and needed the work, so they agreed to make this movie together. One of the best parts is where Bette kicks Joan, lady in the wheelchair, in the behind, and it was done with actual real gusto. Fabulous movie from two of the greatest actresses (I still use the old-fashioned term for women) ever. It’s really not a scary movie, more of a psychological thriller.

I would of bought it if it looked the same as it did in the movie, but now it just looks like any other house. Just plain Jane typical looking white picket house. Nothing special about it anymore except the location and the exterior of the house.
