- This week I'm off to one of my favorite places in this world, it's Port Barton in Palawan, Philippines. It's serene, laid back, there is a lot to see and do (island hopping, waterfalls) and some of the most friendly people live here! Keep in mind the Filipino's are already friendly in general, so can you even imagine ;) Big love and thumbs up for Port Barton!
To find Jeremy, I created a business FB page for him:
portbartonto...
Check it out, show him some love :D

The road from El Nido to Port Barton already brings back a lot of memories. Especially the slippery dirtroads. I’m glad not everything has changed yet.
And then we arrive! After a short check in at the local tourism office, I’m good to go.
Ready for one of my favorite places in this world!
Of course we can’t visit Port Barton, without saying hi to my favorite guide, so….
Yeah, of course I remember the picture. We wanted a way to say thank you to those we shared great memories with! And…
Well, sounds like a plan!
During my time in Palawan it has been raining on and off. But hey, if you’re gonna get wet anyway…
The biggest waterfall around Port Barton is definitely a natural beauty. Great for a cold dip, after a hot day!
White Beach is the perfect spot to relax at the end of your day. Save up some energy for the grand tour next morning!
Some of the reefs are so close to the surface, you have to hold your belly in to get over them. It might the closest you’ll get to the corals, without actual scooba diving.
Oh guys, sometimes I wish I could give you a taste of these moments right through your screen. Well, we’ll keep enjoying out lunch here for a bit, while saying our goodbyes.
Next week we’re up for the second part of our tour, meet the lords of the sea in all sizes, find an other piece of paradise and we’re celebrating! There is way too much left to be done, don’t miss out on it! See you next week. Doeg…!

Port Barton is my favorite place in Palawan. Please, if you go to Palawan, DON'T SKIP ON IT! You won't regret it :)
Many Filipino's I met have an amazingly warm heart, and as you all know I feel so welcome in this country. Jeremy is one of those people I will always remember. I created a FB page for him, in the hope more people will find him and have an amazing time too!
Check him out:
facebook.com/portbartontours/?fref=ts
somebody might teach him better english and the community must put up a group of tourist guide and train them how to do the job....
I like your videos see you just don't focus on the beaches itself you are pretty much focusing everything in the Philippines which that's why I luv your videos.. Thanks...
So peaceful. Being undeveloped made it more serene. A place we wanna go to when we are so tired of stressful city life.
True :) It is developing though, there is just everything you need at this moment. Right now I'd say it's perfect.
the best part of travelling - making friends you will rember forever 🔥
Yeah, that's absolutely so! I have a lot still, all with such warm memories :)
that's perfect, one day I hope there will be no borders and planes as cheap as busses, so our friends so far away can visit our homes ☕
:)
That's beautiful out thre out the beaten path
Nice nature view with background music full of feelings!....Those water falls that Boracay and other beaches cannot offer....
that is the best thing you can do whenever you visit to our country you need to interact to locals, connecting with them and be freindly, they'll give you the best experience ever in their place.. Kudos Ms. Gretl you nailed it!!👍👏😀😉
Thanx! Yeah, I agree :) It's ultimately the people and the meet ups I remember mostly - I think most people do :D
The video before this was removed and I was so anxious to watch it. I was like, what? Then this one works. I never been in Palawan and my husband and I is trying to find a place to retire in the future and your videos really helps (give us an idea) us to choose. Thanks!
Yeah, use CC music always but it got claimed non the less. Arg.... that is very frustrating honestly, takes me a whole hour extra, finding new music reuploading putting all the tags right and so on..... Hmpf. But that explains the removing :)
This is by far my favorite of your videos. This is probably me and my wifes future home
I love seeing foreigners who love our country like ms gretl ...
thank you for coming back ..
Happy to always have been welcomed back so warmly :)
pitz rivera agree! When people say visit Batanes, she really visited Batanes! Haha....
I was really happy with that suggestion John! Batanes was an amazing experience :D There were more on my list this time (like IloIlo) i got from locals, but it was too hard from palawan. Bad planning from my side ;) Next time :D
Travel Gretl Hope you will include Siargao Island :)
Let me know if you drop by in IloIlo or Cebu, feel free to IM me if you need help. Gigantes Island is one of the many things to check out in IloIlo.
The place become more beautiful because of you. Thanks Gretl for visiting Palawan, Philippines.
And the place already is so beautiful - that's a great compliment!

Well! It seems Jeremy is the MAN. Tao Expedition is in my bucket list in a few years. Hope to go home to my barrio of San Roque this year.

Sweet.....has Port Barton changed much since your last visit? Seems El Nido sure has....so many people on this planet...Unceasing Blessings, your one of the FINEST!
Thanx :D Well, I was a bit afraid of it, but Port Barton didn't change much. fortunately!!!!
wow I love it so nice
As always your videos are awesome. Thank you so much for showing the other part of Palawan that not many know exist.
:D There is so much to explore here
Yes! I could not agree with you more. I think a lifetime of exploring the Philippines might not be enough but i can guarantee you that while you explore the country, you will make friends that will last forever. Keep exploring and keep sharing
Very true! Thanx :)
You're so amazing!!! Words are not enough to describe your enthusiasm with unspoiled nature. I wish I were your guide. If enthusiasm is a disease, let me have it.
:D
Travel Gretl
Hi Gretl, I'm new to your channel, my cousin has recommended me going to Port Barton many years ago now you inspired me to finally go.
I noticed in CZcams that people are finally exploring the places that I've been to many many years ago. For selfish reasons I didn't really want
So many people knowing about all these places but I know that it was inevitable that people will eventually find out.
Positive thing is that it helps the economy and others can finally experience the beauty of the Philippines.
Negative things are the changes in the places:
Boracay, I still remember when it was such nice pristine place where you can still hear the waves at night when your walking, now all you hear
Is load music and so many people.
Kawasan Falls, I still remember when there were no trails to walk and you just end up seeing this beautiful Falls, now they have a pave road.
I feel like changes are good but not all changes. I guess it's the price of tourism. I feel like things are better the way nature meant it to be.
Don't mean to complain but the tourism department should try to preserve and keep things the way they were meant to be seen and experienced. Bragging a little: been to North to Pagudpod and South to Davao and many islands in between. Philippines is always beautiful and the people are beautiful. A little bias because I'm a Filipino American. I've also been to every Continent except for Africa.
Keep up the good work. Maybe I'll run into you in one of my travels. Travel is life and life is good.
Ahhh I just woke up, I can't wait to watch this. But I have to get ready for work. I think I'm going to call in sick to watch this ha ha
Hahaha, no don't! They're counting on you :)
love it....
How many beaches does port Barton has? So many beautiful places to visit for such a small island! Amazing place, amazing video and an amazing person! Thanks Ms Gretl!
Oef... not sure! Lots of them :)
Nice vlog again ate gretl. ^___^
Thanx Indy!
Awesome 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Hi John! Thanx :D
its a good thing you posted port barton.. i really miss that..place that the first place I visited in palawan thanks for posting love it
that's typo error
You did! How long ago was that, did you tell me before? Curious how it changed over the years :)
Travel Gretl i think that was 5 years ago.. yeah there's a bit of changes i think road looks much improved. . but the natural beauty still maintained. . back then they used generator coz they dont have electricity. . and no internet.. but the serenity and cleanliness still the same.. base on the video you've posted... people there are very accommodating and respectful as well.. thank God they preserved it the way it use to be
Travel Gretl how i wish i can go back there that place is truly paradise
It's still serene indeed - hope that will stay for a long time!!
Lovely!
+JWell 😊😊

+darkheaven09 not far from an other island I got suggested - guess it's really time for an off the beaten track tour 😀😀
+darkheaven09 keep practicing - and watch lots of tutorials - it will improve 😊😊😊
Waaa connecting back with a friend you made with.. Jeremy sound excited 😊.
Astonishing video as always keep it up and be safe on your travels 😊
Thanx Francis! We were both excited to see each other back. It was weird for him too - that girl filming everything (which probably all tourists do nowadays) all of a suddenly created a movie being watched over 100.000 times. I thought that was insane myself, but for Jeremy it's been very weird too I'm sure ;)
You are most welcome. Glad your enjoying your travels. Waiting for your next vid 😉 go Gretle! 😊
:)
again such amazing clear videos, may we know what equipment you use please?
+Ray Roxas I get that question a lot!! Will make a vid about it soon 😊
Lovely👍
:)
That place is so beautiful. Thanks for bringing us along. I'll surely ask for Jeremy when we visit ha ha.

I know if only have money..want to go this September tough..buy next year January was a great plan
+Erik Galvez 😀
Hi Gretl! Love watching your videos. How's the internet connection in Port Barton this year?
+Jade Gomez Almost as good as the chance of China winning the World Championship soccer 😉
Jeremy's a nice guy, if I ever find myself here I'd like to hire him as a tour guide :)
Oh yes :D
Gretel, try touring the southern tip of Palawan, the Balabac group of islands..I heard it's comparable to the Maldives.. :))))
Looks beautiful from what I see online :) But isn't the south of Palawan also rough to go? I hear all kind of authorities and locals advising against it..
welcome to Philippines
:)
Jeremy sounds like a cool dudet good job buddy! keep up the good work!
+Erik Galvez he is!! absolutely 😀😀😀
I was very fortunate to be born and raise in the land of Ophir :)
i like your vision.....
My vision...? :)
Totally wicked place 😁 love it
Haha, it is! It's beautiful :D
What the name od beautiful waterfalls?
im a lucky El Nido native who has relatives in POrt Barton. I went there last year and drove from there to San Vicente.
+ace587 Cool :) do you feel a bit overpowered by tourists then? I hear some people in El Nido sell their property and leave..
Travel Gretl some have sold their property. Port Barton is what El Nido was back in the 90's. We stick around because a lot have resisted to sell their places and convert their places to hotels instead. The local Church is where we mostly socialize now. Though there are illegal foreigners setting up business in El Nido and driving away locals like Thailand were trying to get those issues fixed and giving it back to the locals.
I miss the small town feel. It's great we have tourism the locals don't need to go to Manila for work but they need to take care of their home and don't sell it to commercialization
Hi! Nice video. There is so much to see in The Philippines!! Have you been to Kalanggaman Island in Palompon. Leyte? It is currently a hotspot right now and arguably one of the best sandbars in the world
Cool! Very curious for it :D
1st?!?
Yes :)
Very beautiful. Thank you for sharing your video.
What is the name of the big waterfall?
That's a good question! If it's not in the description honestly, I wouldn't know...
Are they all country music you play on the background? I love them!
:) Thanx! It's a variation of things - there is always a whole list down in the descriptionbox :)
Thanks!
The song at falls with male vocal is like a singer-songwriter or folk music genre. The last part is Cajun music. Yes, the song choices are lovely... and not overuse? I love watching travel videos and most background music is variety of house music, tropical particularly.
True! It's easiest to get that kind of music, but putting that only under the vids makes me kind of sad honestly ;)
ms. Gretl i like the corals.... is it part of the port barton or a defferent place?...
because i am planing to gk in the palawan soon... tnx
It's part of Port Barton, quite close actually!
To Port Barton also?!
What kind camera do u use and do u upload in 1080 or 720p? Images are spectacular 😊
1080 at least - always. I use a samsung s7 - dji osmo mobile - sony rx100 :)
Made a vid about it :) czcams.com/video/OjCBTb1wdrY/video.html
thanks for visiting my country...and allways take care for your travel...do u have facebook accnt..ms pretty😊😊😊😊😊
+rolito corpuz got the TravelGretl fp page - it's linked under the vids
Travel Gretl..thankz pretty always take care god bless..some day i want to see you in person..hihihi
wow d sound like Irish instrumental 🍻
It is! Links to all music are down in the comment box :)
Gretl I dont like this video? You know why??? Because its too beautiful and its tooooo short. Hope you can make like 20 minute video next time and show all the beautiful sceneries! Love you and youre so amazing!! 💖💖💖 You are the queen of Port Barton!!! hihi 😂😂😂
You nailed my thoughts - had been questioning to make it 20 minutes or 2 parts of video. Choose for the last option. Also cause I'd have taken an other week to put the whole 20 minute thing up ;)
Helo pls tell me the song name that starts at 3:35
It's from artlist but which one 😶
Check out pitchout island in southern mindanao
Can't find it on google... where is it exactly? :)
Among Port Barton, Coron and EL Nido, which do you think is the best place to visit?
PORT BARTON! hahaha, I am a huge fan of that place. It was my first paradise in the Philippines and will always have a special spot in my heart :)
I'll be back there one day, for sure! Coron and El Nido have amazing surroundings but lots of peeps as well. PB is just relaxed you know :)
Thanks.. Will visit it asap!
Do visit places like this yet less travelled before commercialism takes over. The world is fast catching up and natural undusturbrd gems like these won't last long.

Dank!!! :D
😄😃😀😊☺
:)
💋❤️🇵🇭
💕
Do you travel solo?
If my boyfriend doesn't want to come along, or he can't - I'm not going to stay at home ;)
where to stay in port barton? how much is the room per night?
I stayed in Greenviews, two times really, but I think there are more good places. Greenviews was around 20 euro a night I remember. For the more cheap you can go for a homestay :)
who was that mysterious dog?
I'll never know..... He was just sitting there, wishing for company. He got some :D
hi gretl , can i join? hehe, take care . nice video.
Haha, I could make group tours with all who want to join ;)
Travel Gretl wow group tours !!! count me in . hehe . take care
+Argie Guadalupe 😁😁😂😂
Balabac > El Nido. Onuk is the best white beach. Fight meee
Hmm i don't think this is the number 1 spot in Palawan. I think Southern Palawan has something to say. Island called Balabac Island.
I can imagine there is a lot of amazing stuff in the south! I've not been there, but do hope to go there one day. You are right, this is the nr 1 spot for me for the north of the island :)
