Our 35 year old has work bench top gradually deteriorated over the years from so-so to less than. Time to make some long over due upgrades and maybe an improvement or two.
Barry, This is exactly how I built my work bench. My only mistake was making it 12feet long! Now I have a 2foot work bench and a 10ft long SHELF! But, you could drop a chevy V8 on it and it wouldn't move. I am thinking about lopping 4 feet off it. I gotta recover some space in the garage since acquiring the L A T H E !!! :-P
Really wishing you would've clamped that benchtop down to make it quit moving while you beat the allthread thru, but also knowing I probably would've down the exact same thing and just kept waking at it
If you watch the last couple of inches of the last all-thread go in I used clamps. Didn't do much good though because relative to the weight of the top the horses don't add a whole lot. I drilled 1/2" holes thinking about 3/8" rod but I found a 12' stick of 1/2" at the foundry so....
I like these sort of videos
Thanks Buddy!

I have a bad case of the work bench/shelf/storage thing my self. Actually, it has been a life long battle.
