- So over a year ago, I released a video about a fake yet well put together anti piracy measure in Super Mario Galaxy. It quickly became my most popular video I've ever uploaded and I'm beyond greatful for the support you guys gave me then and are still giving me to this day! To celebrate the one year anniversary of this video, I decided to finally release the mod I made for it. Although I did add a few new things into it too. Let's just say that the goal of this mod isn't to beat it necessarily. The real goal, is to experience it..

But in all seriousness, this specific Anti-Piracy series is one of the best that you can find on CZcams, it has the best of both worlds that you would want in an Anti-Piracy thing, one that doesn’t rely on cheap jumpscares or gore but does play with the uncanny yet real feeling of a good horror series. It also gives great insight into what piracy means for game development and it’s a lot more about sending a message than scaring the viewer and I love that :) you genuinely make some of the best content on this platform and it’s a crime that you haven’t gotten a play button plaque yet
Honestly I’m glad the series ended where it did, right at the moment it started to get stale it had a very fitting end, this and the showcase were great bonus videos to throw on, and honestly the other content you make is great if not better and I look forward to seeing what’s next

I love that you don't rely on jumpscares or excessive gore. A lot of other anti-piracy hacks rely on them and they're so aggressive. This is just that right amount of suspenseful to be creepy, but also implements a wonderful use of text to plead with the player to buy the game and even goof around a little! It's wonderful work you do, very nicely done my guy. 👍

I Saw a anti piracy screen where the dev admitted he did piracy before when he was younger so he wasnt mad at all,he talked and asked if they could buy the real game,or atleast support the game,its a anti-piracy screen type that i love tbh
0:40 That very pixelated picture of Mario just standing there saying "buy the game" made me laugh and I felt like Mario was insulting me directly.
Fun fact: When you collected the Star, it said “You…” but at the end of this video, he said “Thank You…” which means that the “You…” actually hinted this video

This mod brings me back memories since Galaxy 1 and 2 were the first 3d Mario games I played, and it also reminded me when I was a kid, having fear of the black holes in those games, Galaxy 1 and 2 were my favorite 3d games and they will still be to this day. SPG..... thanks for taking the time to create and release this mod, I truly loved it, thank you..

Dev Note 1 -The Title Issue-
We only had a few days to set down the anti piracy measures,

so we were of course going to encounter some issues during the creation of said measures.

The anti piracy measures were all implemented before the first release.
(海賊版対策は全部、マスターアップ前に施した。)
One measure was not so stable though...
(見た感じそれほど安定はしていなかったが……)
We intended for the title screen to softlock when the culprit who pirates the game sits through the measures we had set for them.
(海賊行為を行う野郎がいたなら、タイトル画面でロックされるよう設定を組み込んだ)
The issue was, the softlock only happened completely by chance.
(が、このロックたまにしか動作しないという問題がある)
We were going to fix this but we of course noticed the issue at the last minute before Super Mario Galaxy's official release.
(気付いたのはこのゲームの正式リリースの直前だった)
Why am I putting this information into this version of the game?

Well it's because I want people to know the suffering the dev team had to go through to rush these measures in.

I will admit that I enjoyed working on Super Mario Galaxy, but I had to give up a big family trip to get this stuff done!

Dev Note 2-Corrupted Text-
In specific instances, text would corrupt.
(ある例ではテキストが壊れていた)
There would be some new code thrown into the game and things would start behaving weirdly.
(ゲームにいくつか新しいコードが投げ込まれると、挙動がおかしくなる)
Sometimes strings of characters would be normal……
(たまーに普通だったりもするが)
but then sometimes the strings would randomly extend.
(これまたたまーに文字列が伸びたりする。)
We're still not sure what the cause of this is, but at this point I just don't really care anymore.
