    Waukegan? I usually get shot once or twice while towing the boat to marina. Mundelein taxes are ridiculous. I have 6 properties in round lakes and grayslake, mchenry is next. I also have a property in Streamwood but cook county is a no go for me. Great show, thanks!

      Thanks for watching and for your comment! It sounds like you have quite a bit of experience with different areas in and around Chicago. Each suburb has its unique challenges and perks. It's interesting to hear about your property investments in Round Lakes, Grayslake, and plans for McHenry. Appreciate you sharing your experiences, and I'm glad you enjoy the show!

    Folks complaining about property taxes in IL usually miss the fact that it's one of the reason prices don't shoot up as bad as say California. Artificially low property taxes can be a disaster for the public.

    • @patrickp8315
      @patrickp8315 Před 3 měsíci +5

      It's better to have price shoot up with low property tax. Mortgages can be paid off. Property tax cannot.

      You make a really insightful point! High property taxes in Illinois do indeed play a role in moderating home price fluctuations, which can provide a more stable market environment compared to places with lower taxes but higher volatility, like California. It's a complex balance between tax rates, market stability, and public services, and each aspect influences homeowner decisions differently. Thank you for adding this perspective to the discussion-it's important to consider all angles when evaluating real estate markets. Appreciate your comment!

We are a bunch of investors and there are some people from Chicago, but in Puerto Rico there is 0% in income tax and capital gains and that’s why we move here. I started this CZcams channel with my investing club. We do stock. Mostly some of the people do bitcoin. That’s my story in the nutshell will be in touch if you don’t mind.

    lol anyone living in IL aka the 2nd HIGHEST taxed state for home ownership makes me giggle. My brother and I both owned a 200k home and I was paying $1,000 annually in AZ, while he payed $4,000 in property taxes. Can you imagine lighting 3000$ a year on fire? If you took 3000$ a year and put it in an IRA with 6% interest, you would have 254,000$ at the end of a 30 year mortgage. Heck no.

    • @ralphieandryan
      @ralphieandryan  Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks for your insight on property taxes! Indeed, Illinois has one of the highest rates, and the contrast with Arizona really highlights the differences. However, many find Illinois' top-notch school districts and four-season climate justify the cost. Plus, while investing in an IRA is great, real estate in the right market can also appreciate significantly, offering a tangible asset and potential rental income.
      It's all about weighing these factors against personal and financial priorities. Thanks again for sparking such a thought-provoking discussion!

      Thank you for sharing your concerns. Chicago, like many major cities, faces its share of challenges, including debates over taxes and public safety. However, many residents and investors find value in the city's vibrant culture, economic opportunities, and real estate market, which has shown resilience and growth in various areas. Understanding all facets of a city is crucial, and it’s important to consider both the challenges and what many people love about living here. If you’re interested in a deeper dive into any specific issues or benefits, I’d be happy to provide more information. Thanks for engaging in the conversation!

      Just talk new extreme climate change weather just over the last 4 years? I track weather daily for outdoor work. Your dream destination likely hurt by or continually affected by fires, mudslides, erosion, deluge rains, tornadoes, hurricanes, storm surges, tropical storms, smoke and, and and…. Illinois suburbs still standing, rarely threatened and is proven reliably weather safe. Amazing how north suburbs of Chicago spared so many times when even the dangerous winds, rain, storms, potential weather patterns w/“rotation”…..are near. Extreme weather wiping out communities all around the country for awhile now. Safe is smart. Money, investment & “Bang for your Buck” stupid if health & safety are not your first consideration for where to call home.

I understand where you're coming from, and indeed, like many cities, Chicago's real estate market has its mix of highs and lows, making it a B/B+ market in general evaluations. The video aims to highlight areas where Chicago excels and offers unique opportunities that may not be immediately obvious. It's always great to get different viewpoints, and your skepticism is definitely a valuable part of the conversation.
