I have listened and watched you many times. I do not normally leave a message. But you seem to always touch my heart. The first time I heard you share while painting you opened yourself up to your audience about your depression. Since I knew how that felt for me...I related to you. Another time you had been diagnosed with ADHD and your view of yourself went up a couple of notches. NO WONDER LIFE HAS BEEN SO HARD! Depression and Attention Deficit go together. And then tonight, I watch and listen to you talk about your childhood and your safe place. I thoroughly understood. I have been painting my own childhood memories...the good ones. The safe ones. I have walked through all the pain over the last 15 years. I know myself pretty well. Coincidentally, like you, I have begun to remember the very good places and now I am painting them. I think you and I are inspired by something bigger than ourselves. You are on the right path. All my love, Susan Age: 78

My goodness I've missed you... these new stories while painting, with the nostalgic music, means a lot! I cared for my Abuelita till the very end, her last breath. You made me relive some of my memories. Thank You. 🫂

I feel like I am on a similar path with childhood nostalgia. Its a safe place, a comforting place, and yes, so privileged to be able to look back fondly. The games, the tv shows, the sounds, colours, smells. All seeped in deeply and have remained, although somehow forgotten, but those flavours still imbue my art, my movement through life. Love this storytelling, Arleesha

Agree! I think the more chaotic and polarizing this world becomes, the more our nostalgia feels like a warm blanket, a fresh baked cookie, a cup of our favorite tea.

You have a way of talking about things that is captivating. You can phrase things poetically and still have it feel direct, instead of detached and abstract. I enjoy listening to it; even though these are familiar topics to me, it feels like a new way of looking at things manages to get through to my brain.

This resonated with me so much. And something about it feels like a bridge between your old video/art style and your newer one. It feels like it’s all meeting somewhere and becoming one thing that shifts and changes with you ❤ truth is always compelling, and I felt it in the words in this video as well as the art ❤ thanks for telling powerful stories with art and words, you continue to inspire me

I have read in another comment that you feel bad that your saddness was visible in the previous videos. While I can say I did see it, I don't think it's a bad thing. That's basically what art is. Conveying your emotions and letting people to interpret it their way. I felt this because I was for a long time in the same place.
This video shows such change that apparently happened in yourself too. You may not remember but I once wrote I struggle with making art after getting out of depression. It turned out that my sadness was the main catalyst for my creative process. It was my way of coping with emotions. When they are stable I can't really feel anything that powerful to paint something meaningful. It looks like you found your way though. Which I'm happy about.
Please don't feel ashamed that we could see what you felt through your art. Artistic people are usually very empathetic so it's easy to tell. I think everyone else could sense my depression too. I love my old art even though it mostly had a negative emotion contected to it.
I've never really found a solution to create powerful paintings without these huge emotions. But I hope you found it.
    Love

This little discussion made me cry. Not a bad cry, just a relatable one. Ive gone through a lot of stuff in my past too. Different from yours, but knowing there are others like us is sort of refreshing and sad at the same time. Getting through the hardships and learning to unlearn all the defense mechanisms is hard and worth while. Nostalgia is painful for me. And happyness for the longest time felt dangerous. It's getting easier now. Nature has always been a constant feeling of safety for me. Im glad to hear you growing and healing those wounds. Really cute art. Thanks for sharing!

I was so excited when I saw the preview for this on Instagram, and I'm even more excited now that I've seen the entire video!! Making space for yourself to feel and especially allowing yourself to feel is something I've always struggled with. I'm glad that this piece is your way of finding that happiness and that safe space but also letting yourself feel other emotions. Hopefully, I can snag a print of this soon, it's so cute!!

I know a lot of people have said when you've done this style of video in the past you felt sadder, while it could be true i've never perceived those videos like that. Thank you for posting such a relaxing video, they've always giving me such peace of mind and it's satisfying to watch the way you work with watercolors. I've also been revisiting my inner child and I create what I want instead of creating what I feel I should. You're still inspiring me, even years later! You also exposed me to Roman Szmal colors and I've created so many limited palettes! As well as a master palette of all da colors 🤓 I just wanted to leave a comment about how you've made a difference in my trajectory as an artist and I'm happy to still be able to follow along with your path as well! Thank you for posting 😊 sincerely, a long time lurker

this means a lot to me, thank you. I've been feeling ashamed of how obvious my sadness was (to me at least) in my older videos, so your words are a comfort to me. I'm so happy to get to be another random collection of stardust alongside you on this trajectory of life :] sincerely, another lurker-at-heart

Hullo Arleesha, I have always found your videos so interesting and inspiring! I have not always agreed with your opinions, yet that is maybe why I decided to become a subscriber in the first place! You are a very talented and dedicated Artist and I admire you. I enjoyed this video and I would love to watch more just like it! I remember visiting my Gran as she is the one who taught me watercolor painting when I was so young!(10years old). Later in life she developed Alzheimers and her house was not a nice place to visit. I often went just to help out grandpa sit with her so he could go to the store and some errands. She gave up painting quite early in her diagnosis and I was so saddened by this, wondering if this was my path? SO far no, but I am only 62 so who knows? Thanks for a lovely video with amazing stories attached to a wonderful artwork. I look forward to your next offering and wish you only the best of everything!

I also feel that your old videos weren't necessarily sad, I felt they allowed some feelings to just exist within a safe space, within our art and just allow those moments to be. Without them, we wouldn't be who we are in this very moment, learning how to allow positive emotions to be there as well.

Lovely video and story! Beautifully told and I agree with much of the sentiment you’ve expressed.
I find interesting your clear distaste for religion as you have stated here (“religion” is dangerous & unGodly-agreed!) whereas FAITH…knowing that the one who CREATED LIFE loves and watches out for me and teaches me much needed lessons, if I pay attention…and catches me when I fall ( constantly), provides me with sooo much peace!
Before I knew Jesus, I was an empty hollow mess and everything was far too much for one small ME alone in the world, to handle. WITH Jesus though, I’m never alone and He never judges me the way the world does-based upon how much I earn or how pretty or thin or “whatever” I am!
Isn’t that such an interesting antithetical statement to what you’re saying here in this video-about how without religion now, YOU feel free to make choices based upon what YOU think is important in life, and having the freedom to choose WHATEVER that is, whereas I felt the FREEDOM to choose was WAY TOO MUCH freedom. It was also clear that “choosing what I wanted” was merely doing what other people did -following the world. We always follow something…someone….🤷🏻‍♀️😍
I hope that the damage and trauma done to you clearly by people teaching you you needed to BE someone maybe you weren’t in the name of RELIGION is NOT RIGHT and also is not imho a fair reason to leave your faith in Jesus behind-IF you have (NOT speaking for you just dialoguing about the topic of your video which you’ve put into the world for others to see!)
Please know that Jesus is NOT the one responsible for the mistakes of FALLIBLE often ignorant human beings many of whom haven’t read His word nor are the living according to any true doctrine.
I hope you won’t give up on Him because of the mistakes and errors made by people who were supposed to guide and protect and nurture you and instead seemingly must have done otherwise based upon, again, your statements here.
Your art is amazing gift and so much of your art has guided mine. Please don’t be angry with me for trying to share my perspective with you. I can’t see that as being fair, but I also know how it usually goes when people, intelligently, shut out religion, most also shut out Jesus and other Believers. I pray you will find peace…❤️🙏🏻

Completely agree with this comment as a fellow believer it's a true relationship with Jesus Christ that's needed not religion, I was at a point of wanting death and He preformed a miracle and became my life and gave me a reason to live, don't give up on Him he hasn't given up on you.
