Hello Daniel. My shekomi zu, which I gave to my daughter is the only sword that I gave a feathered edge, cuts like a straight razor. Though my other swords (European)have only a moderate edge, for crushing, cleaving blows. It prevents serious blade damage. Considering that you sharpen by touch, I will have to think about a sharpening technique suitable for you. Stay safe amigo and God bless you and yours. ☘

Do you by chance have the stones that they have when they originally sharpend it? Those would be best to use.
BTW, I'm legally blind 🦯 also. I'm also a sword 🗡️ and gun owner.

I'm not a fan of those types of sharpeners. I like the good old fashioned wet stones. But I've never had to sharpen a sword though. Which I'm sure is way more difficult then a knife.

Thank you for watching! :-) this is a ceramic knife sharpener it's not going to take any of the meadow off it's just going to hone and polish the blade making it feel a little bit more sharper but yeah I know what you mean I do have stones and a diamond Stone I have not really had success with those that's why I rather use this distorting kind of sharp already and this did make it indeed sharp enough to cut water bottles. Thank you for watching! :-)

Don’t ever use those sharpeners on this type of blade. The geometry is way off. You can hit it for a while with a collection of stones. Please try at least, I know you got it in ya. I know that sharpener is easy but it’s a killer to your edge and life of blade. You have better perception than most. Give it a try. Practice on a blade that’s not important.
