- Interview with Maynard James Keenan, wine maker and owner of Caduceus Cellars,Merkin Vineyards and Arizona Stronghold vineyards. Mr Keenan was pouring his wines at the 2012 Arizona Wine Grower's Festival on the Farm, and we had a chance to sit down for a few minutes and talk wine.
99% of those people are oblivious to the fact that they are walking past a rock god.
Greg Brown met him las night, got one of the five bottles signed and found out the new record is finished.
Dimes329 I call bs. But I want to believe.
Univerbal
I'm not lying brother, this was the event link to the event last year. Same thing this year except they added a separate tasting at the restaurant aside from the dinner.
I'll be back next year too.

Dimes329 thats pretty cool - I was moreso questioning that their new record is finished when recently they stated on facebook that MJK was just starting to write lyrics and all.
+Dimes329 Don't bullshit, please...Maynard stated only about yesterday or so that TOOL is NOT his top priority or one of his main priorities at the moment, nor has it been for a while. Disappointing but that's what he said!
this man is one of the most talented living artists
Absolutely
Wow, his wine must be quite exquisit.
I'm a simple man. I see Maynard, I click.
its funny, for most of the time i've followed Tool since the 90's, barely an interview with Maynard and during Tool shows he sings towards the back of the stage people can barely see him. Now on CZcams, tons of Maynard everywhere doing interviews and talking jiu jitsu and wine lol. Glad to see him open up
OMG Maynard looks so calm, do the maynard dance, do the maynard dance!!!!
He blended in pretty good. He was serving the wine at his booth and walking around the festival. The Arizona Wine Festival crowd is very laid back
Soft-spoken and friendly, but the gaze in his eyes says, "Don't fuck with me."
why do i keep finding maynard i the most different situations? Wine production, gun tutorial, rock concerts...
Francesco Bonaccorso because he likes to live in different elements of life to fulfill creative flow
He does mma too
A while ago, I dont really remember that much, I saw a guy who looked exactly like him. He was a singer for a wedding, I wish I remembered how he sounded, but I remembered thinking that he sounded good. My Mom finnaly asked him if he was whe we though. I saw her coming back, she said that he said he didn't know who they were. To this day I swear, he looked exactly like Maynard. Thank you for reading. :D
Go to Revolver. BJJ also.
I've had some of his wine. My God is was like drinking liquid Tool.
You can recognize this guy?
HOLY SHIT IS MOBY!!
XD
It's cool seeing him in this vid, looks happy and you can tell he enjoys growing things and making something out of it. Pretty cool Maynard \m/ And it's also pretty cool to do something you really enjoy, as they said - music was just a side thing, a hobby get together kind of thing, they never thought it would take them to where it did.
Who would have thought the high altitude and dry weather would produce good grapes? The sugar content has got to be pretty high, I guess. Probably good legs on that wine.
Good for him and his family. he shared his talent as a musician, and is willing to share another project. Wish I could taste it.
I was floored when I found he is a winemaker 3 Bands a family a vineyard what is next? President
Can someone tell him that he looks really sexy even when he is talking so serious
Totally agree. He is really attractive, He is charismatic, and very kind
Sexy? Looks like a little half-fat nerd
Great piece, awsome, always great to see maynard thank you!
Thanks for posting this buddy! Good interview.
Me too, I've never been to Australia! I could check out the beautiful country while drinking Maynard's wine ;-)
I'm a Barossa wine fan 👍
love this footage!
i got glasses like the ones hes wearing, just to say i was going for the "Maynard look".
Well, Personally I'd love to see Tool Tour again. Seen them 4 times, one hell of a Band.
how well did he blend in there? i am curious to hear how many people recognized him as a music superstar at a wine tasting
Would love to meet the man too. After watching an interview he did with Joe Rogan, Maynard has become one of my favorite people to see and watch. He's a good man.
You are correct. My statement about it being over is too strong. I applaud Maynard for pursuing other interests outside of the music industry. Since I like to drink wine, I enjoy discussions about it. I hope to enjoy Caduceus wine someday.
That Nagual de la Naga, though. Thank you, Sir Keenan, for being.
Thanks John!
That was a lackluster interview for a man that, aside from being a part of one of the greatest bands ever, is putting out surprisingly great product from an area that is still coming into its own and only in a few circles being taken seriously.
HOW ABOUT THAT-A MAN AS TALENTED AND FAMOUS AS MAYNARD BEING DOWN TO EARTH AND HUMBLE. AWESOME.
Great wine!!!
The religious wave fingers at us not even knowing what hell we been through. Much respect to you meynard, i know exactly how u feel- joel mendoza
i cant keep my cool i would be freaking out and breathing hard if i ever met him lol!
Met Maynard las night at a wine tasting. Signed a bottle and talked to him for a bit, talked to a few people close to him and the band and heard that the new album has been completed for a year and has just been kept underraps.
ive heard on the raidio that there is a new Tool album in the works for 2014.. and not a minute too soon....they are my favorite band..
Pretty clear he knows who Maynard is, he's just being professional/respectful and doing his job.
He grows his own fruit, and also sources from other regions.
thanks leetsie!!
I'm a huge fan of Tool, but I don't have any desire to meet the band's members. I connect to their music. I have as much interest in meeting Maynard as he would have in meeting me.
Maynard- turning water into wine.
I love him. :)
This wine maker has a nice voice. He should consider starting a Rock band.
Makes sense why he is not telling us when the album is coming out. If he did I don't think Maynard would wan't to interview with him again anytime soon.
Love Maynard.
Seriously. He could just sit there and recite pop-song lyrics. I'd be just as happy.
That's pretty cool! Now when is the next tool album coming out!! j/k I would drink his wine.
Surprised the interviewer did not blurt out "whens the next Tool album".
exactly!
This guy fuckin rules
Just a humble wine maker
Cool, I'll have to see if he ships it abroad.
Saw them a couple months ago... Baaaaaad aaaaaassss
My tone was too harsh in my comments above. Thanks for understanding the basic point.
THIS IS FREAKING ME OUT!
why can't a person enjoy both. Here's a fact. I was a musician. My band even played with tool...for about 13 years music consumed my life. I knew to preserve my interest in music I needed to have other interests. My alternate interest went into art. It's not as much of a side step as making wine. But we all need other interests and making wine is an extremely artistic and creative thing. so lay off...Maynard is doing something inspiring and working hard. I think it's cool
blasterkid2011 I agree. What band were you in?
Exactly!
i went to caduceus.org and was also happy to find out about Puscifer coffee beans
Well if he doesn't, I would mind trying one of his Wines. I often like the odd Glass of Red so I would try his Brand no problem. Regarding Touring though, I don't think Tool is totally ruled out. He has another Side Project, but A Perfect Circle is finished I think.
yeah, thats what cool about him
2:53 some lucky person he knew
I agree with you. I was too harsh - please forgive that. I know Tool plans to do more work and look forward to that. Cheers.
dude he knows what he's doing. Nuff said.
tried his wine at the rockville festival, ngl it was great to me. half a tiny cup and i was feeling it. strong ass mf grapes
I've had his wine, the red and the white. They are fucking delicious!!
Next, Keenan Vineyards & Oasis in the Searles Valley Calif. :P
When? OMG tell me!
Damn I've been wanting to try his wine. But can't seem to fund it anywhere. ...
He’s at a wine event and he’s wearing an Angels Envy Kentucky Bourbon t shirt 😂
Not that I blame him though, that shit’s amazing!
master!
and i'm guessing your not going to indulge us as to when the album comes out?
I dont even the interviwer knows that this the lead singer for Tool
So... he end Eric Glomski still in touch, or they go their own ways?
Maynard!!!!!
11, 666 views :) Keep up the great work!
I hate to jump into an argument but I have some info that you might like to be aware of... Not all wine is made from grapes. Nearly EVERY acidic fruit can bear a fine wine. Pomegranates, Oranges, Plums... even the flower of a Dandelion can produce wine making materials, and original flavors.
I live 20 minutes from that winery :)
yep
well hes been in a few movies, front man of 3 bands, etc. so yeah, I don't know if you were trying to be snarky with your comment , but if you were there was no reason for it.
yep, just trying not to screw up the interview with uncomfortable silence haha
SINKING DEEPER
WHEN MAN WHENNNN
Id quit my job, move out there and work in the fields.
you guys need look up his wine company page and check it out......caduceus cellars
waite, whats the deal with the barbera you guys were talking about at the end??
2:55 -- Friendly Maynard!
he does, as well as grow his own.
Just like you said, "To each his own." Why cannot you be happy for Maynard, his business partners, and employees in this new enterprise? You are right, I should chill out.
Hard rock, progressive rock, will come back. Each time it does, it's different. Look forward to the next act like Tool. That's my take.
You know what? Why cannot people just accept that fact that Maynard is a human being and doing something else right now. If you need to relive the 90s, just listen to a Tool album again. It is over people. Yes, the technology shift was a part of what killed the massive growth of the music industry, but it was also a bubble caused by older people switching to CDs and we used to buy CDs for fun. Teens don't do that anymore. Maynard saw the writing on the wall. Get over it!
like how no notices him they just walk on by
I have my sights on the Naga juice 🙏💖🤤
And the answer to that question which wasn't asked is "In the future."
Das man.
thats because I already know when the next Tool album is :)
Hello, I live in Colombia and I'm a real wine lover and off course I want to taste Caduceus wines but I can't even enter the web page, do you know how can I contact with them? please any information would serve
thanks in advance
şerefe Sir Keenan
Red Red Wine You Make Me Feel So Fine🌹
once a marine always a marine
Really? When?
My idol :) TOOL
The people united will never be defeated. As long as people even in this specific youtube video compete on how is smarter than anybody, we won't be able to overthrow the oligarchic zionist capitalist system (The dictatorship of the bourgoise class), with 10% of the population of USA, owning 90% of the wealth of USA. If you people love your children, your children's childrens. The best way to love your children's future is thru a class-revolution in USA, a political revolution. It has to be political, thru a revolutionary marxist party. Marxism and Politics is the only way we can save USA from the wealthy class
...& one more thing a hate actually talking about the band when ever the video has nothing to do with that, this video is about his wine & if you have not try you need too because it is so good, but TOOLS COMING NOW SHUT UP & GO DRINK SOME OF HIS WINE !!!
i imagine scaring him off if i ever saw him lol
