The Kitchen Serving 40,000 People a Day

  • With one of the largest kitchens in Asia, the Shri Saibaba temple in Shirdi, India, prepares, cooks and serves quantities of food that are nearly unimaginable. The kitchen dishes out as many as 40,000 meals per day, every day, all year long. It takes 600 people working in two daily shifts to prepare all this food. Yet despite all the effort, meals are free to the public. Why? The temple believes that those who are hungry deserve to be fed, and those who are thirsty deserve to be given a drink.

    ok just to clear it up this guy doesn’t pay for everything, the people that come here donate money. it doesn’t matter how much even if it’s just 50 cents. u don’t have to pay but most people pay a dollar or two when they go, but when 40 000 people go a day that adds up pretty quick. also indian temples all around the world do this, u donate money, pray, eat in most temples. no matter what religion u are u should go to a temple at least once in your life. ~love from canada🇨🇦

      Actually you can't be homeless in India , in other nations homeless are typically people who has good body but tend to not work or doesn't have employment , in India you can get employment easily ( I meant work with you gives you atleast 100rs a day or low but still better than nothing ) , most people tend to work than put cardboard saying I'm homeless ,
      Only if you are old or disable people will give you money in India so people who are healthy tends to work to make money ( doesn't matter how low )
      So over all what I'm trying to say is the "RATIO " of homeless people in India are very low compared to other nations BUT poverty is a whole other subject , India might be the country with most poverty

      @Santhosh Kumar brother none of the big kitchens can be compared to the langar at Golden Temple. It serves more than 100 000 people in a day which is more than any other on the world. Plus everything is done by volunteers from cooking to cleaning to serving whereas In other temples it's the regular employed staff which does this work.

    • @SushantRana-kh5mp
      @SushantRana-kh5mp Před 5 lety +8

      @Anand Kumar well quite a lot of temples do that in India. But none of them come close to Golden Temple of Amritsar in terms of size and the number of people fed

    • @SushantRana-kh5mp
      @SushantRana-kh5mp Před 5 lety +6

      @Anand Kumar I have been to both the temples . And tirupati serves 25 to 30 thousand people a day. You can see documentaries to verify that. Btw All places that serve free food to people are great and no one is better than the other . But when it comes to number of people fed then the Golden Temple has no match. Also it's not the only one, all the gurdwaras in India and the world serve free food to people inspite of their cast Creed and religion. Together they are even bigger than the free food programme in school which serves only mid day meal. I am a Hindu and I can say that gurudwaras serve more people than any other Temple.

      @slammed4578 Před 7 lety +7

      Voidx, Some of the people who say they will change the world have in fact changed the world, in many different ways. The world is always changing and we as humans are constantly adapting and technologically advancing. Change has happened in society and continues to happen, although some of the change cannot be seen merely by you walking around and observing your environment. Much change takes decades or even centuries to fully transition. Statistics and other types of information can show things on a more minute scale though. Depends on what you're looking for really.

    • @slammed4578
      @slammed4578 Před 7 lety +2

      Aaron, it isn't the "but" in the world that is wrong with current situations. Also, you must be assuming that I haven't started change, which is in fact wrong. For you to be able to change this negative situation you have to acknowledge that it exists in the first place, otherwise what are you going to change? Live in the present, think for the future. Acknowledge what the currents issues are, then you can work on change.

I went to the Sikh people's largest and most sacred place of devotion called "golden temple in Punjab india and their workers were all devoted volunteers who I guess give free food as this one and after finishing the food, me and my friends went to help with the dishes and when we saw this mega racks of plates and glass I assumed it could feed all the city if there is enough workforce. It was literally crazy how all this endless lines of plates were there. And it was discouraging too after ten minutes of help we left. But don't worry this place is very spiritualistic so there are many more stomachs and hands who were in the line.
