*Who are we?*
We’re Victoria & Craig! In 2021, we decided that we needed to make life a little more exciting, so we bought a used fifth wheel and completely renovated it. Then, we sold our house in Tallahassee, Florida and hit the road full time in our RV! We’ve traveled all around the United States (and Baja Mexico!) and fell in love with boondocking in our RV at the most beautiful places. In 2023, we upgraded to a brand new Brinkley RV Model Z 3100. You’ll always find us on some kind of outdoor adventure, whether it’s hiking the Grand Canyon, rock climbing in Yosemite or surfing the shores of Baja Mexico. Those truck washes use harsh chemicals on semi trailers to get all the road grime. I wouldn’t go to one. Better off having a mobile wash come and do the RV
Tires and bearings, two of the most common failures of RV trailers and rigs. Two things that get checked every time I stop moving. While hauling, when I stop I do a quick walk around. I put my hands on every tire, truck and trailer. I also check the bearing hubs on the trailer, just a quick touch and you will know if a bearing is heating up. It should not be so hot you can't hold your finger on it. Twice when doing this I found something; one searing hot bearing, caused by an over-adjusted brake, and one very hot tire that had a slow leak and had heated up to the point of not being able to touch it. Both times I averted a potential side of the road repair. The bearing was fixed by re-adjusting the brakes and the tire was charged out before it blew out. I am a CDL driver and doing a pre and post-trip of your rig, every time you move or stop can save a lot of aggravation. It only takes a minute.
As for the truck tires. They should have been replaced 2 months or more before they were. The rule of 2/32nds is BS even 4/32nd is not enough tread to prevent hydroplaning, especially with a heavy rig. Yes, tires are a big expense but a necessary one that should never be pushed to the limit. Be safe instead of frugal.
I do enjoy your site and plan on being out there soon as I am retiring in a few months.
We’re getting ready to replace the RV tires, so I feel your pain. I have to tell you , of the RV CZcamss we watch, I enjoy yours the most. You travel, and are good sports when things don’t always go your way. You’re just real and down to earth😄
This is such a great compliment, thank you so much! And thank you for joining us on our adventures!
🙂Questions?.......
..1 How big is your fresh water tank?
..2 How big is your Black tank?
..3 Have you invested in a Compost toilet?
Us now, two adults in our mid 60's our fresh is 75 + 6 gallons (wh)
Our gray is 2 x 35 gallons and one 35 black.
Black was always a constant reminder and first to fill. 😫Pain, pain...
....after going to a OGO compost toilet saving 23 to 28 gallons of fresh it allowed us on our boondocking trip with no hookups, we went 18 days before needing to fill fresh water tank of 75 gallons.
Instead of directing our urine to our black tank we're thinking.....of adding a 25 gallon container to the bed of our truck to empty our 2.4 gallon urine jug into.
By doing this we can add a over flow pipe near top edges of gray and black to increase our bathroom gray from 35 to 70 gallons total and overall 105 gray total.
This will allow us to go a full 14 days or more without needing to dump gray.
You will need a shower nozzle that only uses 0.2 gal. Per minute though. This restricts showers to 3/4 - 1 gallon of use for a 5 minute shower or less if you pause between soaping up.
.....just a little advice for what its worth.❤
fresh water is 75 gal, gray is 90 gal (they are 2 tanks plumbed together) and black is 45. We don't have a compost toilet and don't really want one at this time since we are able to go 2 weeks on our tanks without moving the RV to dump (we do have to top off the fresh water tank using our water bladder), but if we ever did get a smaller rig, we'd definitely have to rethink some things.
We got a low gpm shower head off amazon and it does really help to save water!
@@wildrvlife Okay, sounds like its working except for having to get the badder filled.......that was my whole point, with a composting toilet you could spend that time doing other things.🛠🤷♂️👍
.....anyway the wife and I throughly enjoy your video's so we will check out today's newly release. Heads up,
Jeff
PS,
...HOPE YOU BOTH ENJOY YOUR THANKSGIVING WITH YOUR FAMILY'S IN FLORIDA
This was great. Thank you for those insights.
My husband and I enjoy every single one of your videos!! You two are always optimistic and happy campers 😊 glad you and the furry loved ones are home ❤❤🐾🐾
thank you so much for watching! 😄
You guys are just AWSOME!!!! thank you for being you :)
Thank you so much!!
Trip looks like so fun. Love the history experience. Safe travels made saver with new tries. A bit jealous we had to winterize and cover our motor home this week getting cold in ohio already.
It seems like the cold snaps came early this year! Were real glad we got the new tires now, makes us feel much better about travel days. Thank you for coming along on our adventures!
Love the new expensive tires.💙
Haha, thank you! They have grown on me. I'm loving them now.
I completely agree with your assessment of Five Guys vs In N Out!
I do not understand everyone's love for in and out.
Awesome video. I feel your pain on buying truck tires, mine were about the same price
Thank you! It’s an expense that we always know is coming but one we’re never happy to make 😆
Hair cut looks great! Tires look awesome, and hope you all are doing well. Safe travels
thank you so much! things are getting busy as we head into the holidays but it's going good, hope you are doing well too! thanks!
Love your videos! Tires look 10x better and those nittos will last a long time!!
Thank you! They definitely have grown on me!
Glad you guys enjoyed Williamsburg. We saw y’all pull into Rockahock but we left and didn’t get to say hi. Safe travels, we enjoy your videos and posts!
It seems like there was quite a few people there that we just missed! Hopefully our paths will cross again in the future!
Great video!
Thank you so much!
We have both burger places. No names mentioned, but I Agree with you about the burgers and the giant bag of fries. 🤓 We love your channel and don’t miss any of your videos. You both are adorable!! 😊
Thank you guys so much!!
You guys are so entertaining, love your vlogs! And your haircut looks lovely
Thank you so much!! So glad to have you join us on our adventures!
You guys are the greatest and you've helped me see how expensive I can't afford although the idea of selling my house and traveling is appealing
You guys are amazing!!
We really enjoy watching! Ya’ll are so cute! Your haircut is precious!
Thank you so much!! 😄
Hi guys... Victoria ...your haircut looks great girl... Looks like you guys had a good time on those roller coasters... Been to Williamsburg... hopefully we'll get to go back soon... The tires on the truck look good ... And the fenders on the camper they look pretty good After You did a little bit of elbow grease to it.... Thanks for the video... Keep having fun and stay safe...J&A
Thank you 🤗 We had a great time in Williamsburg, it was a fun town! We were so surprised to see that before and after on the fenders! Craig really got them shined up!
i love the look of your chairs - would you recommend them? and if so - which ones are they? I'm looking for big padded camp chairs i can curl up in!
You'll be happy with those Nittos, I run the Ridge Grapplers on my truck and your Recon Grapplers are supposed to be a higher mileage all terrain version. And now your Ram looks great with them on and it doesn't look like a mall-crawler anymore! 😆
Haha, they definitely have frown on me. I like them!!
We agree! Nitto grapplers (we have had ridge and trail on our Chevy truck and Jeep) are great tires and very quiet for all terrain.
We've had Nitto mud terrain and Toyos, but for us, they make way too much noise. But we don't full time in our trailer either. Now we have Falken wil peaks on both our truck and the fifth wheel, 35s. We found a bubble on the inside of 1 of our trailer tires and had a replacement by the next day. But got to say, we LOVE our In N Out... have it at least once a week. Whataburger is favors, but we live in California so our closest 1 is Phoenix! We don't care for 5 Guys at all! But, that's why there are so many different burger places!❤ your hair looks great, Victoria!
These are a little louder than our last ones, but surprised us that they weren't too much louder which was good. Whataburger is our favorite too! Especially when you consider cost because Five Guys is so expensive.
Those tires are rockin’ it guys! We switch over to Firestone Destination tires that are also pretty aggressive given how often we have to ride on dirt roads. We need that traction, right!?!
One would wonder if you were working your way down to the Tampa RV Supershow. Would definitely increase your social media presence. Just saying….😊
Also 3d speed is what you need for the fender. I do 12 month wax for about $300 for that truck $500 for the rv.
Happy y’all got new tires. Be safe.👍
thank you!!
Your videos are my favorite! 😊❤
So happy to hear that!! And thank you so much for watching!
I enjoyed shopping with you since I didn’t have to pay anything! Ha! Already looking forward to next week’s video!
LOL that really is the best way to shop 🤣 thanks so much for joining us!
Truck looks good with those tires, aggressive but not obnoxious. Tires are so expensive these days. My wife’s tires are 600 each. Special winter tire for her Infiniti
I agree!! We two different Infiniti cars in the past. They are very nice vehicles.
Love those tires. I just put Mickey Thompson Baja tires on my 2500HD. You will love you tires for boondocking
We’ve already been in a spot where we were sure we’d have had to use 4x4 with our old tires, they are so much better!
Glad you enjoyed Virginia. Looks like you passed right by us in Fredericksburg on HWY 17N.
Oh yep! I think I remember passing through there. We had a great time!
Love Bush Gardens. And rollercoasters are sooooooooo fun.
They had some of the best roller coasters I've been on for sure!
Just a thought after seeing your tire wear on the out side you need to get a front end alignment.
Your hair is adorable, looks so cute on you….we have all been there when it comes to new tires for truck…ouch that is not a fun expense. Have fun in your history seeing adventures
thank you so much! and yeah, it's always an expense we know is coming and plan for, but we still hate seeing the money leave each time 😆 one of these days we might slow down and get more time from a set of tires. Maybeee....
Love the haircut it looks fuller. ❤😊
thank you so much!
Glad y’all got new tires, I never noticed how bad they were, or I would’ve said something good for y’all. They’re nice looking too.
Thank you!! And yeah, we noticed back in Michigan at first and finally decided we better get them replaced sooner rather than later
Ram trucks are notorious for front tires wearing on the edges with the factory alignment specs. Lookup info on Thuren Fabrication specs for Ram trucks to fix the problem. Front outer wear fix, total toe .00-.05 degree or less, 4 degrees caster. Tires worn on outer edge-indicates toe in, tires worn on inner edge-indicates toe out. You have to go to a truck shop that will do a custom alignment, the big box shops can only set to what the computer tells them. Good luck!
Thank you. I was looking it up and noticed it seemed normal for them. Thanks for the info, I will have to try and find somewhere that can do a custom alignment like you said.
Great video
Thank you so much!!
Ouch i feel your pain! Ihad to put new winter tires on my truck too. Score on skip the line ups. D0NT forget tourque your wheel lugs at 100 km
we always know the tire purchase is coming, but it's still never fun right! and yes, good reminder, thank you!
I like your hair,happy travels,god bless!!❤
Thank you!! God bless and hope you have a wonderful week!
Love you guys your absolutely our favorite we are in Lakeland Florida look us up if your ever here!
What about the spare tire??? If you go through Lovinston on your way down south you are about 15 miles from Massies Mill VA. Unfortunately no RV parking or boondocking. 😢 Thanks for another great video. God bless.
Love all your vlog posts! My husband and I both enjoy keeping up with your adventures.
We have to replace our tires soon and have the same view of those original tires - we definitely need 35s at least, to give it better proportion.
Did you get to fit the full size tire into the spare space?
thank you so much for coming along! We didn't end up getting them to try and fit one, because after Craig was researching on some reddit forums and taking a look at things himself, he was pretty certain it wasn't going to fit up there correctly. I suppose we could probably use the smaller spare in a true emergency to get us to a stopping point
Damp dryer sheets are fantastic for getting bug guts and road tar off of the RV and the tow vehicle and they leave a shine. I know, sounds insane but it works. Just keep a spray bottle of water to clean the surface after you use the dryer sheet. And my son is a RAM tech and wanted me to put Nitto Grapplers on my truck but my local shop couldn’t get them so I went with Michelins. Just a 1500 truck.
ooh good tip! I think I've seen a video about using dryer sheets before now that I think about it!
Thanks for watching!
Wow Craig actually smiled on the last few seconds of this video, but he did get excited about that polish
lol! much more excited about the polish than my haircut 🤣🤣
Look up Maxima SC1, I use it on all my plastics on my RV and use it all over my ATV’s.
Ooh thanks for the tip!!
Y'all are adoreable!! Such good videos and always entertaining! 😊 Looks like the doggies were glad you were back!
Thank you!! And lol the dogs always act like they haven’t seen us in years, even when we’ve only be gone 30 minutes 😆 makes us feel loved!
Truck washes use acid in the wash mixture. That's why your plastic looks dull. Best not to use truck washes, but if you do, request no acid in the wash.
We had requested soap and water only, but we did get rain-x, which might have done it. Or leftover acid wash on the brushes.... I think we're going to stick with just washing it ourselves from now on lol
The original size tires on my Ram 3500 SRW are 265 70R 17 but I agree, they look too small so I went one size larger 285 70R 17. They look better but now the speedometer is almost 3mph less than the actual speed so if you were 2 sizes larger, your speedometer might be 5 or 6 mph off. Fyi, one size larger still fits in the spare tire space.
Yeah we've found that at about 55-60mph, it's about 3 mph off too! good to know about the spare tire space
I Absolutely Love the chairs, where did u get them?
Not sure how far behind your videos are but we are over in VA beach at First Landing State Park. Just a walk over the dunes to the beach
oh wow that sounds like a beautiful spot! We are in Georgia now (we're a couple weeks ahead in "real time")
the aggressive tires look really good. your hair it good. you can use Maguire's fine cut cleaner to remove oxidation and it you go to a boat store or camper store you are buying the same products as you get at auto parts stores they just put different coloring in the same products I used to be a supervisor at the Maguires wax and product plant.
Nice!! Good advice. I bet that was a fun job.
not really a fun job they constantly used part time workers and running production lines training new people constantly was not enjoyable, so I started an engineering firm with my cousin and we started inventing things and obtained about 30 patents and we sold them to industry over time and became unbelievably wealthy ,you just never know what's your pot of gold till you start cooking .I may not be able to comment on your vides any more because you tube is blocking me because I have add blocker on my computer but I will still be able to watch your videos another way just not on you tubes platform and I am not sure this will even post if you do see this give a response so I can know if I am able to back door you tube .@@wildrvlife
Seems to have worked!
I am a California native and I agree with you Craig that 5 guys is wayyyy better than In and Out. Sorry not sorry in with the new guys out with the old.
Many many years ago, I did some electrical design work for Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. Probably 34 to 35 years ago. They were putting in a theme park. I see you got to go to that theme park. Was there a pirate ship ride that lifted the ship up in the air?
oh how cool! and yes! we did see that ride!
I always like getting new tires, things always perform better with fresh tread.
for sure! we've already gotten to drive uphill in wet grass without having to lock in 4x4 😆
We stay at rockahock campground every time we go visit family in the area
oh nice!! I'm glad we found it, it ended up being a great option for the area
We had a 4 week trip out west and got a rock embedded in my front tire. Replace all 4 at discount tires also in Montana. But I did get 80000 miles on the originals. Be safe
niceee! that's a good amount of miles to get out of them!
My wife and I enjoy your channel. Where did you get your outdoor chairs? We need to replace ours and lime those you have. Safe travels!
we got them from Camping World! they are the MacSports Club chairs: www.campingworld.com/macsports-club-chair-118326.html
Tires look great
The rain-x the truck wash uses did that to our rig. Asked them not to use it but they did.
Ohhhh we did actually get the rain x - I bet that’s what must have done it!
Wash the truck, clay bar it, then use the ceramic coating. It will be beautiful!
Great video. Hair looks great.
thank you! and thanks for watching!
You’re right across the water from me. I’m a 7th generation Smith descendant of Prince William Co. circa 1628
WOW at the tire prices. I had to put a set on my Chevy SRW 1 ton back in May. Used a Discount Tire in St. Augustine, Fl. 1140 bucks out the door for Michelins. Each tire had a 100 buck instant rebate.
oh wow! that's a good deal with the rebate!
Larger tires create a lot of problems because they weigh more than the truck components were engineered for. Expect your wheel bearings and front axle u joints to fail next.
I agree five guys is the best!
yess!! 💯
Illl be back next week!!
Can’t wait to see you then!!
We just replaced 6 tires on our F450 - big ouch! We can feel your pain...
oh gosh... yes you know the feeling then! 😅
How much did your fuel mileage drop with the larger tires? Love watching your videos.
Tires are even more if you have a duelly nothing is cheap.Trailer cleaned up nice. have fun week 🎉
Oh gosh! Lol yeah I bet buying new tires with a dually is even less fun! 😅 and thanks so much, you too!
@@wildrvlife Or try a Dually with a triple axel 5th wheel! Ouch$☹️
I hope you guys drove the parkway. It’s beautiful in the fall - well all year but the leaves…. Haircuts - Oy! Finding someone who knows how to cut natural curly hair- those are very few & far between. Tho they all say they know how, but they do not. Those tires-- so glad you corrected that situation. Tho I agree those are very aggressive looking. They did not look good. Safe travels.
oh gosh, I bet finding a good stylist for cutting curly hair is so difficult! We did get to enjoy some really pretty scenery out there for sure!
You can always deflate the spare to get it to fit in that spot assuming you carry a tire inflator with you.
that is a good idea!
I use armoral on the mirrors. Bug wash right off.
See y’all in Talona!!
Yay!! See you soon!!
I have read that you can fit a 35" tire and deflate it to keep in stock spare. You would then just need to air it up if needed.
ohh that is a good idea too!
@@wildrvlife I would do it on mine but 37's still won't fit deflated from what I read.
Hi guys hair looks good and fun at the fair👍🖐️
Thank you so much! We had a great time!
I agree, Five Guys is better BUT ask for pickles at In-and-Out. You won't be disappointed! :)
On the fenders skirts you may need to use a torch and gently heat them to get rid of the dullness. Some truckwashes use acid to get the dead bugs off. Hair cut looked nice; you should cut each other's hair.
I cut Craig's hair once... but both of us decided we better leave it to the professionals after that experience LOL
You guys are so close to where I live. Wish I would have love to meet up with you. Love the video. Stay safe. Jamestown is 20 minutes from my house. Love the hair cut.
Aww wish we could have met up! We need to figure out the best way to let people over here on CZcams know where we are in real time because the videos take a couple weeks to come out and then we’re usually gone ☹️
@@wildrvlife you could have a web site to where to can email people who gives there email address to you. That would work.
When I bought my 2021 3500 single rear wheel ram it came with the upgraded 20 inch wheels
My spare is either 17 inch or 18 inch wheel. They put a equal diameter tire on the spare .so if I have a flat tire my spare tire will be the same diameter but not as wide. It still has the same weight rating. Denis from Santa Rosa CA
ahh, good to know! and thanks for watching!
Some truck washes use fresh water not recycled water . Have to ask.
In n Out 💯
You’re not lying. We’ve been loyal customers of Discount Tire for about 15 years or so now. We have the insurance on our fifth wheel tires. They were only two seasons old and the rear driver tire failed and blew out just 5 miles outside of Butte Montana coming home from our family vacation to Yellowstone. (Still an 8 hr drive home) But the tire we had put on in Butte was immediately refunded once Discount tire got our correct replacement tire back on our trailer at home! I wasn’t happy having spent now $40+ for the new tire “certificate” as you guys call it, but compared to spending $200 on a new tire, it was still well worth it! We just had Cooper Discoverer AT3’s freshly installed on our 16’ Duramax for the Yellowstone trip and love them. They’re super quiet and handle great! How’s those nittos doing so far? Beautiful Brinkley fiver. I’ve read about them several months ago and am in love. When the Prices and interest rates calm down for everything we’d love to upgrade to that! Still haven’t seen a mid bunk floor plan for the kids yet, so I’m thinking we have plenty of time. Lol! Anyways, great work, I’m jealous. We’d love to be doing what you’re doing. Thank you for your transparent daily maintenance / routines. Great attitudes behind it all. God Bless! DC
Thank you so much! And yessss, the warranty at Discount Tire really comes in handy and it's great that they have them all over the country. Brinkley actually just recently released their a mid bunk floor plan, I think they are starting to take orders for them and people should be getting them soon, which will really open it up for folks with kids or it'd make a great office space.
Hey Y'all... We live in West Georgia outside The City Of Gold...We have watched Y'all for a while and you two are so real...we are as Southern as it gets and can't deal with some of the other youtubers that act and are just so doggone fake...some people are all hat and no cattle...Y'all ain't that...thank y'all for showing us places we will probably never see but would love too...new subscribers... Doll And Tennessee Johnson...Safe travels😉🇺🇸🍀
thank you so much! I'm glad you can come along with us on our adventures and to witness all our shenanigans 😆🤣
We started out buying too much junk food and too much fast food. Once we trimmed our diet back to just meat and veggies weve save substantially. What kills us is California diesel.
totally agree! cooking and eating at home more often can definitely have a big impact!
When travelling highways a lot, you need to use big and tar remover before you hit the 🚘 wash 🧽
yes, good advice!
Well, what happened to your spare tire. When I was a young guy. I did what you did, as long as you don’t need the spare tire, you got it going. But when you need it,you will be in trouble. If your truck has a limited slip rear end or front end, all the tires need to be the same size. You can, or you might do a lot of damage if you use a different size tire.
If you were a lot of the tread off the tire, it may fit
Fender skirts, truck wash used a soap that basically stripped all wax off of your rig. Most automotive car wash soaps will not do this. Dish soap generally will. You may want to have someone wax your whole rig now.
yes, we are going to avoid the truck washes in the future and just do it ourselves from now on 😅
Craig, keep a bottle of bug and tar remover and pretreat the grill and mirrors etc., then drive through the carwash.
definitely need to do that next time!
Your haircuts looks really nice.
I appreciate that, thank you!
11:13 I agree, 5 guys is better, but sometimes I get a craving for In-n-Out and 5 guys fries are the BEST, but I have to ask for easy salt because it can be like a salt block sometimes.
haha we've gotten them a little too salty before too! Their fries are so good though
It's all good 👍
thanks for watching!
I agree 100 %. 5 Guys rules !! 👍
yes! you know what's up
Awwww....great video. You guys passed right by me here in Northern Virginia. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves in this area. I'm anxious to see Craig's favorite campground. Hurry up, y'all! 😊😊😊😊
We didn’t originally plan to visit this area but we’re glad it worked out this way! It ended up being such a fun trip. Thanks for watching!!
If you are running 295/65 r20, the mesure just over 35". If you are still running the 18" wheel in the spare, a 285/75 r18 will measure almost exactly, and I could not get one to fit in my 2021 Ram 2500 when i was at Discount this week. I am about to try a 295/70 r18, which is basically the exact height of a 35/11.5 r 18, just wider.
Im running 295s and headed up north for the December holidays and would hate to be caught in weather without a proper spare and my RV hanging off the back. So im looking to make it fit. Seems if you either remove or "lovingly" mold the heat shield, it will fit. Trick is to get it up past the track bar, and then pivot the tire past the hitch. Or so they say online. We shall see.
That's what I saw online as well. But let me know if you get it to work. Having spare that's the same size would be nice, lol.
@@wildrvlife Agreed.. at least closer that the stock size with that 295/70.
I’ll be at the shop next week. I’ll respond then.
Yikes,2000. Is a lot to fork out!! Glad you are safely on your way
Rotate, Rotate, Rotate!!
yes!! definitely going to make sure and rotate this set more often
Do you think l should get a smart car or a jeep to bring with in trips or should I just say get something smaller now in confused
Definitely agree on the Five Guys… but it costs just about as much as your tires to eat there 😅😂
lol! true. Whataburger is a true go-to for the best fast food price/taste in our opinion
