Man growing up i was beyond confused about if priest, pastors, preachers etc got paid or not, and who pays them. Lol. As a lil kid i believed God paid them. But my main point is i think they should give out more money and help than they receive. 💯
I have been a pastor 22 years. I don’t take money from my congregants. I go to work every day just like you and my wife and I own a business. On the flip side we help people consistently and willingly in all arenas of life, even financially. My church feeds the community and even put on programs sponsored by banks on how to open businesses and guaranteed low interest loans for their business once training is completed. I wonder where Mr Johnson gets his money for the schools etc… that wants to open up?

I just take issue with the preachers bling blinging, expensive suits, fancy cars and there's members of your church starving and facing homelessness. But it doesn't matter what I think. When I grew up the preachers were working just like regular folks and preaching. They were more realistic. Some are just out of touch!

The church that I am attending which is predominately white has full disclosure of the finances. First of all, the church is not owned by the pastor. Secondly, the budget is provided to members as well as nonmembers. I have never known a black church to operate in that fashion.

No it's not true. The church or more specifically the bible has been the greatest tool to bring equality to humanity. Ask historians. What were the moral standards of this world before the bible came on the scene?

Maybe the black preachers ought to teach personal responsibility, holiness, and industry as virtues that God made men and women to pursue. I don’t take money. I went 13 years without taking a dime. Dr Umar doesn’t want anything to do with the church but he runs to give lectures at them whenever he can. My church teaches go in business for yourself, be the lender and not the borrower, get an education, not only that but we help our own people at home and abroad. Dr. Umar or Joe Brown are not the end all and be all of what is and isn’t good for black people. We don’t believe that prayer is a begging contest. We believe that God won’t even speak to us unless we get up off from our knees and our stomachs and stand up for ourselves. We teach that the government can’t and won’t help us and that we must stand up like men and women and teach our children the right way to live. We must start our own businesses, buy our own land, grow our own food, and clean up our own communities. I don’t appreciate Umar putting everyone in the same boat. Because the truth of the matter is that if it wasn’t for the black church he wouldn’t even be allowed to vote, own certain properties, and freely excercise the right to criticize the very church that worked and some died to give him that right. I have no use for him at all. He says some good things but he is a pie in the sky guy more so than the preachers he is talking about. In these United States there will never be any reparations. If every black person in America voted for it, it still won’t be enough.

Mostly churches are businesses and tithe or donations provide for support for the church but if a church tries to make you feel bad for not tithing then you may want to find another church to go to.

Sad Black People haven't had any leadership ever on any level or in any place position in society as a whole or amongst our very own. The longer I live the more I believe what this old lady from my church told me when I was a child. The biggest problem I have with people of the world like Dr. Umar is this, they don’t believe in the church or the God of the Bible and yet try to mark demands on how the church should operate. People will take the resources of the church while despising the message from the church. Most church preach against marijuana use. The world despises that teaching. If the church hands money over to the community to pay bills, many will simply take it as they now have money for their sinful lifestyle. The truth is biblically, the church is obligated to take of the household of faith, not the world. If the church has a school and requires strict biblical standards for its faculty, students and parents, the world will have a fit.

To me it seemed Dr Umar was saying “IF” the church is going to take money WEEKLY, many times taking money from those who can least afford it, their should be a return, other than “hope” for that financial investment and time. Churches enjoy a tax-exempt status in this country-many take in a staggering amount of money. Even if they only provided what he suggested to only their members, which clearly many do not, the overall community would be much better off. Yet “Pasa” owns a mansion, several foreign cars, and private jets? C’mon man, you don’t have to belong currently belong to a church or believe in religion to recognize Pimpin’ 101 and form an opinion. Who that is black hasn’t at least at one time been in church, or family is or was active?
