Wow! You CFIs have to really be on your toes all the time. Bad things could happen fast with a student. Not saying she did anything wrong at all because she didn't, but I could see if she had there wouldn't be much time to get it corrected. Things could go south quick. You are a very good instructor.

And, if you're in a Delta within the Mode C Bravo radius, you will likely be handed off to that Bravo departure, i.e. KSPG...nice vid, here Jon, with our favorite student!
Just out of caution, I'd say to wait until beyond the end of the runway to turn out. Doing otherwise will put you directly in line of the traffic pattern, and it's easier for ATC to predict what you're doing.

Probably a good habit and I do the same. However, this is controlled airspace. The tower is maintaining separation and would have advised "fly runway heading until XXX feet, then turn left"

I thought that you needed clearance from tower before you were allowed to turn after takeoff from a tower controlled airport.
She got that from tower prior to takeoff, "Left turn approved." Good comment.

Its just interference from someone's strobes or beacon.....
