    Back light turns on and off. Gauge will show normal, overheating seconds later and back to normal.

    There are a couple of reasons. Try in the following order:
    1- disconnect battery, both terminals, touch both cables together (disconnected from battery) and leave them like that for 15 seconds. Reconnect positive to positive, then negative to negative. This is called a "hard restart".
    2- update software for your vehicle
    3- replace cluster.

    thanks very much for this ill try it. so just curious did you get an error on your old cluster where it said 888. Also since the temp gauge is dysfunctional how did you determine the car was not actually overheating when the cluster showed full bars was it because the fan did not come on? Just so I can also run the test at home thanks

    Hello, Great video explanation! When your temperature gauge goes up, did you get an engine code displayed on the cluster?

    • @avpautomotive6337
      @avpautomotive6337  Před 3 lety

      No engine codes

    • @1911Sabbaticals
      @1911Sabbaticals Před 3 lety +2

      It’s is common to see a code, but it’s more likely a temp sensor that’s actually bad for you or wires

    Maybe the tube's of the radiator are older and when you press gasoline they swallow and close the pass of coolant. Need to change the tube.

    This happened to me this morning on my way to work. The C and H completely disappeared and then came back on but then started to overheat. Will look into replacing the cluster..

      Not hard at all, everything is hold on by clips and a few screws

    Was your old cluster showing the gauge in between the cold and hot and sometimes not showing the C or H ?

    • @avpautomotive6337
      @avpautomotive6337  Před 3 lety

      It would show normal at startup, a minute later it would show overheating. After, only the middle portion would show and at times the H or C wouldn't show.

    • @avpautomotive6337
      @avpautomotive6337  Před 3 lety

      At times only the middle would show and yes the H or C would desapear at times.

      You would have to make sure the temperature being displayed is not correct. For example, your temperature shows all the way high, but your scanner is showing normal operation temperature. If your displayed temperature is high and the temperature displayed by the scanner is the same, do not dive it. You will overhead your engine.
