A girl had an organ removed because she had too many Hot Cheetos, but what about some other aches, pains, and even cancer claims? Back in 2018, rapper Lil Xan had to check himself into the hospital after one too many Hot Cheetos after it “ripped something in his stomach open a little bit.” But competitive eaters like Matt Stonie are able to slam back heaps of hot, ultra-spicy foods with little consequence. There are even claims about Takis being so spicy that it hospitalized children. So how much hot chips is too much? Let’s get into it!

One thing is a bit distorted here: Spicy food a.k.a. Capsaicin does NOT alter the stomach acid pH. It might create irritation which then leads to symptoms, but the acidity cannot be changed by it. Generally speaking, there is very little evidence to support that eating spicy alone causes gastric problems - otherwise large parts of India, China, Thailand and Vietnam would see lots of that.

My parents NEVER allow me to eat a whole big bag of chips (any sort) without sharing it. They have the mentality that it’s not good for people to eat a large sum of chips in one sitting and I genuinely respect their way of parenting. It’s sad that some parents let their children eat that many chips and spoil them in a way that they can’t live without the chips. You should always be careful and control what foods and the quantity of the food you eat because it’s just that important. No child or even an adult should go to the hospital because they ate spicy chips, that really shows how far their addiction has come and how far their parents would go just to make their child “happy”.

While spicy snacks alone may not cause cancer, the repeated acid reflux certainly can and does cause cancer. My mother had a hiatal hernia where her stomach was above her diaphragm, causing a U-shape bend in her esophagus, allowing stomach acid to pool in that area. The damaged area is precancerous, and she will have to have it checked regularly for the rest of her life. Anything that regularly causes stomach acid to go up the esophagus can cause throat cancer.

I suspect there's something else going on with these Cheetos and Takis than just the spice. Korean cuisine is some of the spiciest around and children there get used to it at a young age. But of course it's vegetables, noodles and meat, not processed corn laden with synthetic chemicals. In fact, if you are having stomach issues, and have a Korean food store you can get to, try buying some kimchi. It has a strong smell and taste, but eating it with rice cuts the heat and it's really good for the digestion.

But then 2 hours had passed and my mom became concerned when she heard me crying in bed. I drove myself to the hospital and 8 days later o was released after getting my gallbladder removed. It can’t be a coincidence. So be careful. Try to rotate the kinds of chips your eating, not just spicy kinds. After getting it removed my diet had to change. I got acid reflux and heartburn so easily. I eat tums like their skittles now :( and one of the changes in the diet is your not supposed to eat spicy foods. Scoville heat units are no longer measured by dilution and taste testing, they're measured as a concentration using chemistry tests (I think chromatography?). The scale is calibrated such that pure capsaicin is 16 million SHU, meaning Carolina Reapers are between 1/16th and 1/8th capsaicin. The scale is set up that way to keep some longstanding benchmarks in roughly the same place.

I mean it's fine to eat those foods, js as long as you have a limit and how many times you have a week or month. If you eat it everyday and is addicted, then that's an issue that needs to be fixed.

Probably you were an active kid and sweat out the sodium. It's not the spicy chips in general, but more of sodium intake. People reach for chips because of the taste of the sodium.

Taki’s…….The most famous move from my classmates with Taki’s was when my classmate literally was sleeping at camp and ate Taki’s in his bed at like 1pm-
I am surprised to see the rumour about it is still going on, not often now but it’s been a while since it happened

Too much of everything in theory. Good, bad, healthy, harmless. Almost everything can be "overdosed" on. Everything can "poison" you past some limit. It's just that in the case of for example, water, you're far more likely to be puking out the 5 liters you drank in the span of half an hour than your body allowing you to drink 30 liters in 5 minutes.
Some people like to tell themselves, it won't happen to me, i've done it all my life, i'm *resistant*
They forget a crucial detail, *resistance* is not *immunity*
And NO ONE. No. One. Is immune to anything that can enter their body.
