A girl had an organ removed because she had too many Hot Cheetos, but what about some other aches, pains, and even cancer claims? Back in 2018, rapper Lil Xan had to check himself into the hospital after one too many Hot Cheetos after it “ripped something in his stomach open a little bit.” But competitive eaters like Matt Stonie are able to slam back heaps of hot, ultra-spicy foods with little consequence. There are even claims about Takis being so spicy that it hospitalized children. So how much hot chips is too much? Let’s get into it!

hey brew how are ya?
Greetings have a nice winter period. If you like Guardians of the galaxy a Christmas movie released in the Disney plus subscription.
Bruh you flagrantly clickbaited us
Thank you for your videos Brew
I've learned alot
This video has helped me understand my brother's gastritis problems
This video has some factual errors regarding pH. It gets pH wrong/backwards in several places. Lowering pH increases acidity. Raising pH lowers acidity. This video states increasing pH will increase acidity which is completely wrong.
I like how the mom fed her daughter several bags of chips a week and when she got sick, blamed the chips and not her parenting choices
I think it's more ignorance than bad parenting; our stomachs contain acids that can melt through a table so spicy chips shouldn't be an issue. It's a hard lesson about moderation.
@@Deedoof I just assumed that it was common knowledge that fried corn chips covered in salt aren't healthy for anyone and that large amounts of highly acidic foods can cause all types of digestive issues.
maybe not fair to just shame the mother. don’t know of a single parent that’s perfect in every way. besides the fact that american eating habits are horrible and companies want it that way because guess what, they make money on it and do whatever they can to cut cost and market their sh*t as safe and healthy
@@WanderingMiqo We, as a society, know this kind of stuff isn't good for you. But we don't really take account of all the negative things processed foods do to our bodies except obesity and high blood pressure.
4 bags a week for what's nearly an adult (17) isn't a lot tho, come on. I can eat 2 bags in one sitting
I feel like as a general rule, if you're suddenly experiencing pain/discomfort in your stomach while eating, it's probably best to pause eating for a bit. Then again, I think that the biggest issue here is moderation/self control, which is what's causing the stomach pains to begin with.
Totally. I struggle with boulimia, and my stomach and brain tell me to stop way before my emotional state allows me to do. It's a really weird disease because I know I shouldn't, that it will make me sick and yet I can't control myself.
I'm getting slowly better, it's rare when I finish a pack of cookies now. Before I could it clearly more than one.
in general dont eat processed food
If it didn’t exist 200 years ago best not to eat it.
@@Primal-Logistics and don’t follow mostly untrue way too general rules like this. Of course, I get what you’re saying, but it’s much better to be specific.
These processed food products have been scientifically formulated in such a way that makes moderation a challenge on purpose. They want you to crave and buy more.
Just like GMOs have been modified in such a way to be the most visually appealing, to withstand traveling long distance, and to extend “self life”
I remember this one child I knew who would eat hot Cheetos and Takis and all that stuff at a young age. By the time he was 13 he was battling stomach cancer. It went into remission until he turned 16 and passed away from it. It was such a sad turn of events to say the least.
Holy 💩... very sad. I'm 40 been eating flaming hot cheetos since 1994. I cant eat em anymore.... I have ulcers I'm treating now
All the additives and coloring has probably more to do with these illnesses than the hot spices.... not to mention the horrible seed oils im sure used to make them.
Fk the Redditors who keep boasting about flaming hot Cheetos and said the taste was better than original. I finally take on flaming hot Cheetos, it was the most god awful snack I ever had. It just taste like Tabasco that flavour covers the cheese flavour so much so that u don’t taste cheese anymore. These trollers are pathetic.
Stomach ulcer & cancer very often has H.Pyleri bacteria & Sodium Nitrite (preservative that goes on a rampage when said containing foods are barbecued/fried) associated with them.
😢
One thing is a bit distorted here: Spicy food a.k.a. Capsaicin does NOT alter the stomach acid pH. It might create irritation which then leads to symptoms, but the acidity cannot be changed by it. Generally speaking, there is very little evidence to support that eating spicy alone causes gastric problems - otherwise large parts of India, China, Thailand and Vietnam would see lots of that.
I agree it’s supposed to be an anti inflammatory i thought.Maybe it’s another ingredient?
Cheetos and Takis are mild. I use to pour on the Valentina Hot Sauce. Keep away from Valentina🤕
Valentina hot sauce made me go to the ER. They removed my gallbladder. Dorkus Doctor left me with a hernia 😡
Your a science wizard
"Why must pain taste so good"
Story of my life.
Take it you're a connoisseur of spicy foods? lol
Spicy food is the bdsm of the food world
Yum
😂😂😂😂
It's glutamate
I notice I feel fine when I eat homemade salsas no matter how much I eat or how spicy it is. But when it's artificial spices like hot cheetos, bottled hot sauces, etc it does get me sick if I Over eat it.
Yep, chili itself is ok, the commercial ones have vinegar, excess of condiments and conservatives, that's the stuff that gives gastritis...
Anything you naturally make at home or fresh prepared will be tolerable compared to bottled and processed snacks. Junk food needs to be eaten with discretion very slowly and very sparingly. These days I don't gobble up junk food like when I was a kid. Take it a day at a time.
Interesting!
I get diarrhea if I eat way too spicy, the family I'm staying with cooks extremely spicy food often knowing that I can't physically handle it. I just end up eating instant noodles because I don't want diarrhea.
I'm not sure what spices they use, but I've noticed store-bought imported curry powder. local produced and packed spices don't upset my stomach. I eat curry a lot.
A lot of bottled hot sauces aren't processed either
My parents NEVER allow me to eat a whole big bag of chips (any sort) without sharing it. They have the mentality that it’s not good for people to eat a large sum of chips in one sitting and I genuinely respect their way of parenting. It’s sad that some parents let their children eat that many chips and spoil them in a way that they can’t live without the chips. You should always be careful and control what foods and the quantity of the food you eat because it’s just that important. No child or even an adult should go to the hospital because they ate spicy chips, that really shows how far their addiction has come and how far their parents would go just to make their child “happy”.
More like how far a person will go to ignore a problem
Honestly I don't know How people can eat those giant bags in one sitting. The most I can ever eat is one of the more medium sized ones you can buy at gas stations.
Same
Same here. The thought of eating a whole party-size bag makes me feel lowkey sick, I don't understand how people manage to do that.

1:06 Flamin' Hot Cheetos are bright red. Pretty sure that was just him puking up flamin' hot cheetos. "Hmmm I ate something bright red by the handfuls and I puked up red stuff. Must've been blood. Couldn't have been the bright red stuff I just ate."

I like how when he give the list of causes for gastritis, he conveniently leaves out the obvious…coffee.
Wash that word from your mouth, he won’t hear of it 😂 ☕️
I guess him saying “what?” after sipping his coffee is the closest he’s gonna get
Drinking coffee causes gastritis?
@@Palmetto-J excessive amounts of coffee might because of the acid in coffee and the stress of excess caffeine in the body. If someone already has gastritis it can cause flare ups sometimes. Of course, some people have higher tolerances. No judge here, I’m a coffee drinker and a Cheetos eater!
Cold brew = less acidic coffee! Brew over night, your welcome : )
Heads up, “increasing PH” was used a few times in reference to making things more acidic (including in the meter during one of the animations). Increasing PH would make things _less acidic_, and that’s exactly what antacids do. To make something more acidic, you’d decrease the PH.
You can also say increasing pOH
@@specialopsdave I agree, but to keep the average viewer in the loop, using pOH might be too complicated. I feel like it'll just fly over their heads
I was internally yelling when he was saying that stuff
Whoops.
Kind of like how that copypasta says "corrosion" instead of "erosion".
As someone who never eats hot snacks and never has eaten them (because sensory issues), all this is news to me.
It has nothing to do with those snacks being "hot"
While spicy snacks alone may not cause cancer, the repeated acid reflux certainly can and does cause cancer. My mother had a hiatal hernia where her stomach was above her diaphragm, causing a U-shape bend in her esophagus, allowing stomach acid to pool in that area. The damaged area is precancerous, and she will have to have it checked regularly for the rest of her life. Anything that regularly causes stomach acid to go up the esophagus can cause throat cancer.
Yes I started eating hot Cheetos when it was poppin back in ‘02 ‘03.. kept bleeding everytime I pooped.. classmates told me it was normal. Fast forward 5 years later, I still experienced bleeding when I pooped. They misdiagnosed me and thought I had Crohn’s disease, but come to find out the hot Cheetos gave me a flare up in the intestines.. Long story short.. this isn’t new this has been going on for years, although they are quite delicious it’s not worth your health 🤷♀️

Stomach cancer rate is high in countries where hot spicy foods are typical. The original purpose of this hot spicy food was to cover up the flavor of bad meat.
I’m so sorry for that
And thats why kids, you should never eat spicy chips. (They taste weird and arent good for you)
@@SignedOff402 gonna have to disagree with that last part. It’s commonly used and racist argument against spices in the west, but has no evidence. Cultures which use a lot of spices use them because they taste good, not because of rotten meat. In the west during the Middle Ages, wealthy people used an abundance of spice because it meant they could afford imported ingredients. They were eating the best parts of a harvest and had the best quality food they could get at the time. They weren’t covering rotten meat, either.
Long time female gastritis sufferer here, caffeine, antiinflammatory pain killers, and greasy foods are also major triggers. And recently, I learned that hormonal birth control pills can also aggravate this already aggravating condition.

I suspect there's something else going on with these Cheetos and Takis than just the spice. Korean cuisine is some of the spiciest around and children there get used to it at a young age. But of course it's vegetables, noodles and meat, not processed corn laden with synthetic chemicals. In fact, if you are having stomach issues, and have a Korean food store you can get to, try buying some kimchi. It has a strong smell and taste, but eating it with rice cuts the heat and it's really good for the digestion.
Probably all the citric acid they put in takis

Just because something is synthetic and a chemical doesnt mean its bad
Agreed, while I cannot tolerate spice. My 87 year old grandma eats spicy Indian food. ( not spicy these days, we reduced it once she turned 80). But most Indian food is not hot, it’s more flavourful. But she and spicy food, and fasted alternate day. She is alright, not even weka eyesight, borderline diabetes, no BP issue, nothing absolutely

Ur story telling is so good
Yeah I grew up eating hot Cheetos, hot fries, sometimes takis but my go to we’re hot Cheetos. Around 6 years ago in the middle of the night my stomach started hurting and at first I ignored it. But then 2 hours had passed and my mom became concerned when she heard me crying in bed. I drove myself to the hospital and 8 days later o was released after getting my gallbladder removed. It can’t be a coincidence. So be careful. Try to rotate the kinds of chips your eating, not just spicy kinds. After getting it removed my diet had to change. I got acid reflux and heartburn so easily. I eat tums like their skittles now :( and one of the changes in the diet is your not supposed to eat spicy foods. If you do youll immediately throw up or get diarrhea or have uncontrollable heartburn. It sucks. 😩
I don’t know if this might help but I saw a TikTok a woman made stating that the issues she had after getting her gallbladder removed improved after she started taking magnesium supplements.
@@umberwyld thanks!! I’ll look into this! God bless you
I think it has something to do with the artificial spice, because people don’t really have these problems with spicy food derived actual vegetables.

If you were a minor your mother should be jailed for not atleast calling an ambulance..or a uber..or driving you herself. I would suggest distancing yourself from someone so toxic and selfish. Scoville heat units are no longer measured by dilution and taste testing, they're measured as a concentration using chemistry tests (I think chromatography?). The scale is calibrated such that pure capsaicin is 16 million SHU, meaning Carolina Reapers are between 1/16th and 1/8th capsaicin. The scale is set up that way to keep some longstanding benchmarks in roughly the same place.
I am a Western person but I have had a Sichuanese (spiciest Chinese cuisine) wife and live in Thailand. I'm 73, eat very spicy and have no problems. It would be interesting to know what spice (natural or man-made?) is used in the products causing hospitalisations. Two years ago, the health department of Thailand issued a warning that the super spicy som tum (papaya salad) in Issan province was causing throat irritation problems but there was no mention of tummy problems.

A few hours/day later after eating almost an entire bag of cheetos i felt a really bad pain in the general area of my gall bladder/liver.
Lucky enough for me i think i managed to get that gallstone (or what was going to be) moving by drinking some good amount of water, breathing in all the way and fist punching the very painful area. The pain SUDDENLY went away with no further pain in this area over the next hours/day.

Back in 2019/2020 I was eating takis a lot, like everyday. I think I was eating like a bag or two a week for 4 months and my stomach was always hurting. My mom finally forced me to stop by not buying them anymore, and my stomach stopped hurting. These chips need to be ate in moderate
I'm so glad you managed to overcome the pain, and yeah you're right, eating takis and chips in general should be moderated, same with sweets and junk foods.
now, not hot chips but I do eat plenty of spicy food to keep myself regular as I have chronic constipation, but it’s always home cooked and I’m adding chilli flakes or hot pepper to it
Sichuan people hearing hot food would do all that: 👁️👄👁️
They were going to ban them in Michigan schools when I was in high school too. There was a whole political debate and the courts got involved and everyone was freaking out. The court ruled against the ban eventually.
Really a 16 doesn't know that lfie requires moderation just because some 13 year old lives off cake and chips then dies form malnutrition doesn't mean you ban it for everyone. I can understand sometimes people's stupidity makes laws for all of us but at some point it's gonna get beyond ridiculous. You really need to wrap kids up in bubble wrap. This had to be the dumbest advanced society in the world. European kids eat those chocolate eggs with toy inside but seems American kids can't handle it because their parents are neglectful. 🤦🏾♀️ America must be low IQ rednecks cause how you explain banning hot chips cause some kid eats a large amount in a consistent basis. Low IQ chimps.
Wow
Sounds like Pokémon when I was in school back in the 90s
Thats too bad. They should be banned period , everywhere !
@@bryanbrett8943 facts ,my fav chips but if they’re dangerous it’s best 2 ban them 2 make a better world
Am so confuse, here in my country we eat really spicy foods. I mean crazy chilli pepper, pepper stew, pepper soup, pepper rice etc. Everything has pepper in it and I never heard of this severe issues that come from it. Wow 😲
Natural spices have way more health benefits. These chips are full of disgusting chemicals, oils and dyes which is the real issue.
Cause you're eating REAL food that is naturally hot and your body has built a strong tolerance. These are artificial man made foods. Be careful
americans are weak
Probably has to do with that food being homemade and not artificial spicy junk food
Something's wrong with the artificial spices they're using. Real peppers don't cause the same problems.

me: *thinks of the 10 cups full of milk I drank*
also me: *proceeds to sweat profusely*
5:33 ok who's putting hot sauce in their coffee????
You don’t?
was it that hard to figure out who
If this wont keep you on your diet then nothing will 😂
Welp I guess there is no diet for me
That's what adderall is for
The "Too much of a good thing" quote, should not be taken lightly. For sure.
Another reason why I should stick to my cheese-flavoured Cheetos, and other-related crisps.
¨I have a bad case of diarrhea¨ got me laughing XD
that happened to my homie kevin
11:11 that was.. *PERFECT.*
Not me eating hot Cheetos as i wach this 😂
Being stressed is also crazy on the stomach
Is lil Xanax sure it wasn’t all those pills in his stomach? 😂
Me casually eating hot Cheetos while watching this: 😮
Eats another one
This makes me crave some Cheetos
😂
I just bought a extra hot bag, can’t wait 😂
Love how they gave a 16 month old child Takis 🙄
Awesome video and thanks for making this man :]
7:16 antacids raise pH, not lower. lowering pH makes it more acidic
What’s weird is I grew up eating hot Cheetos and hot chips in general everyday for many years yet I’ve never had any health issues, probably from just eating it for so long I assume.
I’ve had no issues
You could have issues later, you never know
@@user-xr2eu8qf2f No doubt, but I’m just saying it’s strange that I’ve eaten so much yet nothings happened… yet.
I mean it's fine to eat those foods, js as long as you have a limit and how many times you have a week or month. If you eat it everyday and is addicted, then that's an issue that needs to be fixed.
Probably you were an active kid and sweat out the sodium. It's not the spicy chips in general, but more of sodium intake. People reach for chips because of the taste of the sodium.
Taki’s…….The most famous move from my classmates with Taki’s was when my classmate literally was sleeping at camp and ate Taki’s in his bed at like 1pm-
I am surprised to see the rumour about it is still going on, not often now but it’s been a while since it happened
Me Eating a bag of talkies while watching this video: Interesting
I had gallstones. My very old Chinese doctor that didn't speak much English told me to drink only water and a lot of it. Within a few months the problem went away
Since I see nobody saying it, I just wanna say that the "♪ have a bad case of diarrhea ♪" was so out of left field and it was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
yea growing up my dad banned me and my siblings from eating takis and cheetos pretty much any spicy chips or chips that stain your fingers. my family eats relatively healthy so we didn’t mind but I vividly remember 2 of my cousins going to the hospital because of cheetos and one got surgery unfortunately I feel like i dodged a bullet by not eating cheetos and takis
My classmates are going to go crazy with this one
I actually ate a single hot Cheeto at school and I almost became a chalk outline.
say what?
@@MillieBlackRose they almost died
I have no idea what you mean by saying "I almost became a chalk outline"

@@imjustapancake3188 I get that but from a single cheeto
Ah yes, the "Too much of a good thing is always bad" Saga continues~
Yes, like for example overeating. Food is crucial for survival but too much can harm you
Too much of everything in theory. Good, bad, healthy, harmless. Almost everything can be "overdosed" on. Everything can "poison" you past some limit. It's just that in the case of for example, water, you're far more likely to be puking out the 5 liters you drank in the span of half an hour than your body allowing you to drink 30 liters in 5 minutes.
Some people like to tell themselves, it won't happen to me, i've done it all my life, i'm *resistant*
They forget a crucial detail, *resistance* is not *immunity*
And NO ONE. No. One. Is immune to anything that can enter their body.
Same thing happened to a friend of mine, he ate some of those and lost a piano.
I've eaten a lot of flaming Cheetos, but they never destroyed my stomach or any of my organs, just give you diarrhea for a couple days.
