Flight of Swallows

This is a great block to use up your scraps. It is made with half-square triangles and single triangles in two sizes. This pattern is written to make a 12" finished quilt block.

It’s a very pretty block

Swallows are birds that do fly in formation; and, they do make a very pretty block. However, when I put this block on point, I see a fish swimming to the right. Turn it the other way and I see a fish swimming to the left. All you have to do is applique an eye and a gill on to the fish. This would make a wonderful, many colored, fish covered quilt for a child. Some of the fish could be swimming to the right in schools, and other schools of fish could be swimming to the left. This is another fun block. Thank you.

I’ve been experiencing the loss of my sew-jo for the last 2 months, no pattern has excited me enough to get back in my sewing room-until now! I really like this block, a lot! Ive been considering birds in the air, but I like flights of swallows better. Both are the same concept, but this one has more of a punch, I think anyway.
