- In this episode of Iron City Garage Clay gets to work on the 1941 Diamond T 201. This truck defiantly has some character. Not to many people are familiar with Diamond Ts especially this model so tune in to not only find out if it runs, but some interesting history behind these awesome looking trucks!

My Daddy owned a 1955 full sized simi tractor, named "Mother Truck", as it ran when other rigs didn't, being an owner/operator, it was my family's LIFE LINE !! LOVE IT !!
the diamond t 201 came with a dual rear axle when the stake bed was installed on it. Usually there were two wood beams with the rear axle cutout to install the bed on. Also that back area is where the two saddle hangers pinned the gas tank to the back of the bottom of the truck frame.
It's shocking how tiny the Diamond-T is compared to other photos! I love the lesser known American truck brands such as it, R. E. O, Studebaker and a few others that came and went.

@@jimmycricket5366 true, not to mention their uniqueness as well, it's like the obscure brands had a lot of tricks up their sleeve.
They were still building Diamond REOs in Harrisburg PA into the 1990’s.

Evening Pete & Clay, those Diamond T's are a definite money maker in any color....I would like to have a late 40's White 2264B....I had one many years ago, it was a tandem axle dump truck...
I'd turn that Diamond T into a mini rig with a cummins motor huge gas tanks and smoke stacks don't know what I'd do on the back though
I live in New Brighton and I would LOVE to have this truck, but it'd have to get a 6bt 12 valve with a NV4500 swap and some kind of bed. I'd give it a nice deep maroon metallic paint job, powdercoat the frame, a full custom interior, and put a nice chrome stack on it with a perforated chrome heatshield. It'd also get some PAC 1218 valve springs, a Power Driven Diesel upgraded P pump, a MUCH bigger turbo, and maybe an upgraded cam. I always have great dreams, but I don't have the bankroll to back them up. Maybe later in life...

I think you will find that was a one ton pickup someone made into a one and half ton I have seen heavy pick ups made by mack and diamond t that had single wheels in the rear and a large stepside body. but you are right they chopped the frame.

Please buy your man in the shop a pair of steel toes, he"s got to loose the sneakers. He"s going to blow his head off reinflating those split rims without a cage. Great web site, love the COE's.
He refuses to wear boots, I tell him all the time. Your not blowing a split rim at 15-20psi

So your selling at a premium a 201 that’s had the frame destroyed, a sized motor, an unknown model dual rear axle and an added PTO and no bed because you messed up at auction and paid way too much.
How much for that one

These guys only get trucks rolling then sell them to other shops I haven't seen them restore any old trucks to completion # BOGUS

I really wanted to hear that old thing run, when I was a kid my neighbor had that same old truck with a dump body on it. Every time I would hear him starting it I would run over there to catch a ride in it.
That's a BITSA Diamond T truck - it isn't really worth much. That being said - I know you will price gouge some sucker desperate to own a 1941 Diamond T truck.
Gouge is a bit of a stretch. There’s this thing normal people do when buying and selling that you might be familiar with givin all your buying and selling knowledge called “negotiating”…..

I do know what pristine Diamond T - Reo trucks sell for, and if they are fully restored, the only "negotiating " that will be done, is with the wife when decide to spend $50 to 70K on an 80-year-old truck! The Semi Tractor rigs with a vintage trailer or reefer are much more than that!
