- Today we are doing a brief history of the seatbelt and a look at fitment in the Morris Minor 1000.
For the inspiration for how we fitted the rear belts credit has to go to “dantournay” of Retro Rides.

Many thanks for this video👍
Marvellous. Thanks.
Hi great video, were brackets welded to car ?
The new strengthening plates were not welded to the car - just used a bolt through the small hole to hold them in place whilst bolting in the seatbelts. I don't know if this is the best thing to do.
Good video. Thanks for posting. It was interesting that you had the bolt holes for the front seat belts on your '59 as mine as none of them. The car was a USA import LHD so that might be the reason as only lap belts were required until 1968. I am curious as to why the top hole below the back window was not drilled into the intersection of the pillar and the cross beam below the back window. It would seam that it would be stronger there and flatter. Question, did you put a backing plate in the top hole for the front belts? And if you did, how did you secure them? The video was a little cut off when you were filming that area. Thank you!
Thanks for the compliment. The front top and front sill fixings were factory fitted. They started to put them in as the seatbelt laws changed in the UK. The one on the transmission tunnel I made to suit the lengths of the (tunnel) seatbelt fixings. All areas were I made new fixings in the car had the strengthening plates behind them to spread the load on the panel.
Thx!
Hi, will this work in a Morris Traveler?
I don't know to be honest. I would guess the fronts could be similar but the rears very different.
Hi, I personally don’t know anyone who’s put rear seat belts in a traveller, but I’m hoping someone can advise me.
