My dear friend and neighbor who is no longer with us had an enclosed porch on his house. I would take him every year to pick out a live tree that he would put on his porch much like yours. It would get so cold that the tree would freeze in the stand and stay there until it thawed out every year😁. He used to show off how much longer his tree lasted and still looked fresh over mine that was in my house. Like you, he had those large colored bulbs like the ones we used to have in the 50s and ornaments that were handed down from his grandparents. After he passed, his brother gifted those old string of lights to me and we had a good laugh at how he would replace a bulb with a bubble light or something random when it burned out. Your video brought back warm memories of my dear friend ❤️ . I hope you enjoy your time with your family and make memories to last a lifetime. Merry Christmas Scott.

Loved seeing the parade and bits of Philly! Your house reminds me so much of my grandparents home as I remember it from the 50s and 60s. There was an enclosed, unheated porch that my sister and cousin and I would “camp out” on during the summer! Brings back great memories.

Thanks for showing the parade, etc. Love the white lights however my wife Linda loves colored lights, so we compromised & finally broke down & got an artificial tree which has both. During the day colored & @ night, white lights. We do miss the smell of a fresh one! The suitcase idea is perfection. 🎄

Hi Scott - I don't think I've ever commented on your vlogs before, but I just wanted to say that I am in love with your charming new/old home! The amount of detail and care that you're putting into restoring this amazing dwelling is incredible. Your knowledge and appreciation of vintage and antique pieces is just stunning! I also appreciate that you're 'old school' in that you are very skilled at being a 'Jack of all Trades' and that you're not intimidated with repairs, etc. with regard to restoration projects. My father was very similar and I think yours was too since you affectionately reference him often... Thank you for sharing and lots of love!

Don't we all have moving stories!---I didn't know you were taking me to the parade, I get choked up & had to block my view of the band. Almost couldn't watch the festivities either. I don't have typical holidays anymore, kids gone, on-call for Hospice so the other nurses could have free time with their young families. I DID enjoy the animatronics tho'!!!---Decorating for me has been almost nil, but this year, I'll do a bit of dusting (grr!) and set out my snowglobe collection. Return the willow lights to my front yard (rain coming tomorrow, when will I get my ankle-high weeds pulled?) Typically, decorating came along right around the 3rd weekend of December, usually because that's when I got my act together!---I'm hoping your archived footage shows Salem...Blessings to You & Yours---Alana

Omg! Just bought a 1920s floor lamp that I thought Scott would be proud of. And what did I see? A very similar lamp in this video! The glass lamp shade looks the same. Love to hear back about your lamp, Scott.

Oh Scott I wish you could have seen the Christmas windows at Woodward and lothrop in the 60s ! I couldn't wait to be out at night and see the mechanical windows. How long have they done the Christmas Carol walkthrough?
It's been around for maybe 40 years. If I remember it was first at Strawbridge's Store before they went out of business.
@@oldcuriosityshop265 @Old Curiosity Shop Wow. I know the first time I saw the light show was, goodness, about 30 years ago when it was still Wanamaker. They still had the restaurant and we sat at a table at the railing dead center of the show. It was amazing!
I love this parade! Back in 2015 we had the honor of being invited with several bands from Baldwin co Alabama to march in this beautiful historic parade! It was one of the best experiences.. then my twins marched in the University of Alabama Million Dollar Band and we all went to Macys to watch them march last Thanksgiving!! So many wonderful experiences & we LOVED Philly!!

Sang with Bergen County Choir, all North Jersey plus three musicals, Varsity Madrigals group, a bazillion concert choir concerts and church choir. Started at Westminster but lost my voice and gave it up. I cherish the memories tho🧓 Music is the lifeblood of the human spirit.

Thanks for the tour. A Christmas Carol is my all-time favorite Christmas movie....the old black n white version. Your mom is very attractive. Did you have a good view of the city before they put up that building outside your window?
Oh the building outside of my window is only 7 flights tall and I live on the 8th floor. It does not block my view of the skyline at all.
