- Dutch Trappist brewery 'Trappistenbrouwerij De Kievit' is better known for the two beers they produce: Zundert Trappist 8 and Zundert Trappist 10. The monastery Maria Toevlucht (Our Lady of Refuge) dates back to around 1900 and was elevated to the status of an abbey in 1938. The name of the original small farm on which grounds the monastery arose was “De Kievit”, a plover bird with distinctive wispy crest. Hence the name “Trappistenbrouwerij De Kievit” and the plover that appears in the logo. The brewery was built in 2011 and in December 2013 “Zundert Trappist” beer was introduced to become the second one to bear the label of “Authentic Trappist Product” in the Netherlands. This video gives you a rare look behind the scenes of this Dutch Trappist brewery.

This is not a trappist beer. This is nothing more than a vulgar english IPA. Monks never tasted these oportunist kind of beer...
