Casey Abrams was a contestant on American Idol the same year as Haley. They performed some awesome music!
Morgan and Haley sing a stripped-down version of the Beatles' "Dear Prudence" that's just phenomenal and worth checking out.
Yes Alex Walker, Haley, Morgan and Casey are fantastic, but so is burlesque performer Ariana Savalas, who can sing with the best of them and of course, vamps for a living. Yes, for those who don't know, she is the daughter of the great Greco American actor Telly Savalas, Best known to Americans as lollipop afficianado Theo "Who loves ya baby" Kojak, and to British audiences as Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld on Her Majesties Secret Service.
That move the three ladies did together was done by the character Lina Lamont in the movie, “Singing in the Rain”, amongst others.
PMJ has tons of stuff out there--enough that you may need to give them their own weekly poll category vs keeping them in "Other Artists". 😉

The wannabe cover is pretty good and has Sara Niemietz in it. She has done many songs with PMJ. I think my favourite is "I want you to want me".
Sara Niemietz is one pmj's best vocalists. She is a thrilling singer, and a lovely woman. "I want you to want me" is gorgeous. I also love her version of "bad romance" . Her voice in "wannabe" is one of my favorite things about the song. The way she sings that first verse-her voice is so warm and rich. She also has such wonderful interpretive skills. I love her sound! thanks for posting.
@@user-kv2tj4du8p I can't explain what it is about Sara, but yeah she has something special. Haley is easy. She has amazing technical skills and knows how to use every one of them exactly when she wants to. Sara on the other hand has something with her ability to express the song, but it sure is a lot harder to pinpoint what it is she is doing so amazingly well.
@@lsorense I totally agree. there is something very personal about the way Sara sings and her sound that grabs me and moves me so much. and you are right, it is hard to pinpoint just what her magic is all about. but magic it is. there is something bewitching about her singing. and again, you are right on-it is in her ability to express the song. "I want you to want me" being an excellent example. I love how pmj has showcased so many very different singers so specifically and so well. thanks for posting!

DJ, I suggest that, as often as you like, react to a song that you want to hear from one of the acts that have been on the channel, without waiting for it to win a poll. With these acts, every song is a gem. This wouldn't be instead of the polls, but bonus because you want to.

On tour these 3 ladies called themselves “The Sisters”, they’re tight friends. PMJ has a steady stream of top tier talent for their tours, a every changing cast. They are a touring show that records single camera videos of the individual numbers, you’re actually watching the show they perform every night hence the choreography and interaction between them.
PMJ's remake of "Hallelujah" with Effie Passero is by far, my favorite version of that song. We were blessed to see Effie perform this live with PMJ, and it was stunning!
Postmodern Jukebox is one the most exciting things going on in music today. no question. the amount of talent in every single song they produce is another level. it starts with Scott Bradlee. he is full-on a kind of genius with what he does. the arrangements are always spot-on. they are witty, the honor the original song, yet seem to also find something new and right underneath in the song. he gathers the BEST musicians out there. he gathers the BEST singers out there. and they are usually musicians and singers that are off the beaten path. so we get introduced to talent we might have missed otherwise. the pmj rabbit hole is one of the best places ever. it is a treasure chest of jewels to discover.
I love your critique here. haley is a perfect singer. perfection. there seems to be no style she can't inhabit. no part of her voice that isn't hers-fully. her interpretive skills are stunning and surprising. and she has amazing taste. she is a tasteful singer. she always makes the right move vocally, and thrills us. welcome to the magic of Morgan James. she is also an incredible combination of technique, soul, intelligence, fun, skill, and inspiration. she has some of the best vocal performances on CZcams. truly. she's that good.
and I loved your takes on Casey-who is a marvelous talent. I love his voice. it's the real article. and again, a surprise. his sense of fun and delight with music and his abilities is amazing. but I was so thrilled with what you say about Ariana. She is one the pmj original singers when they were first releasing music. her style is amazing. i love her sexy, sultry voice. she also has a theatricality and flair that are marvelous. she's not the vocal powerhouse that haley and Morgan are, but she has something completely different that is only hers, and truly compelling and wonderful. also I love the ending there where you've got these 3 women who are all so individuals. completely different vocal qualities and impulses, yet when they go into that 3 part harmony it is so tight I honestly have trouble picking out individual voices. amazing musicianship and again-taste.
Morgan James "dream on" is on the level of "creep" in my opinion. a totally different experience. but I think just as exciting. the pmj version of spice girls "wannabe" was my original pmj obsession. more than "creep" or "dream on" or "all about that bass" or anything else. I was OBSESSED for awhile with "wannabe". It knocked me out on every level. it was this song that showed me just how incredible Scott Bradlee is. that arrangement is another level. the way it honors the original, yet is completely an Andrew Sisters 1940's tune is mind-blowing. again, all 3 vocalists knock it out of the park to the heavens. it is one of the great pmj creations. the look of the women. the fun and wit of the entire thing. sorry to go on like this but pmj are truly THAT GOOD. they are worth this excitement. love your channel. In case you didn't recognise it, the bit that made you want to join a kick line is the opening of '(Theme from) New York, New York', most famously by Frank Sinatra, very much a big band standard (although surprisingly the song was only written in 1977, whereas the big band style evokes more 1940s/50s).
Fun fact? When this originally was put out as a video for PMJ, on the line 'ain't no stick figure, Barbie doll' by Morgan - a little caption would come up in the top right corner saying she lies - see the PMJ video Barbie Doll by Aqua covered by PMJ and Morgan where they had the BEST cheesy version of that song - SO funny :D - you meet the Tambourine Guy in that one too

VoicePlay is my favorite music group, PMJ is my husband's favorite, and between the two of us we match each other's musical preferences. As a trombonist, I adore their jazz style.

Arianna Savalas, daughter of Telly, is known for her revival of Burlesque. Both her voice and body language reflect that great era. While touring with PMJ, all three women referred themselves as sisters, that's how close they were. Morgan James, a trained Julliard singer including opera, is nothing short of amazing. Her covers of Aerosmith's "Dream On" and "Take Me to Church" are must to check out. And of course, you know about how brilliant Haley is.

You really have to see Gunhild Carling sometimes at PMJ, she can play like ten instruments, dances and sings all with a big smile, like she is a time travelling vaudeville legend from a century ago.
Also Robyn Adele Anderson, she does some amazing work all around and can be credited with PMJ's first viral videos.

Watch PMJ's "pop up" version of this song. Their "pop up" videos are basically the same video but with pop ups giving behind the scene information. For example, this video was recorded on the same day as the first PMJ video you watched, and the end of this song was a tribute to the famous Andrew Sisters.

I haven't seen a PMJ video that hasn't been pure fire. Where else can you listen to Blondie in the style of the Beach Boys, or Guns and Roses in the style of Etta James, or the Spice Girls in the style of the Andrew Sisters, and so on.

There are more Morgan James has many videos in solo or duets, same with Haley. Mrgan has been aound in her own vidos.
Some of my favorites lead by Casey is "Stacy's Mom" and "You're Not the Only One". The PMJ ladies are amazing, but sometimes it seems like the fellas get overlooked.

"delectable" is a great word for how wonderful "wannabe" is! it is the song that first got me excited about pmj. I couldn't believe how they had completely done the full-song-all of it. fully transformed into the 1940's 3 part harmony Andrew sisters style and created an entirely new song that stood on its own. the 3 ladies all delight in different ways. it is just so smart and so funny ultimately. it is the song where I went from being just friends with pmj and I decided the relationship needed to get more serious now. thanks for posting.
