I love the cuts at the end between the cafe and Blake exploring the cave. It was so fulfilling that Batman was able to find a worthy successor and Bruce Wayne got to live a peaceful happy life. And the music building up... especially when Blake was surrounded by bats, mirroring the scene in Batman Begins.
I love that the ending focuses on the 4 men who came together to mourn the loss of Bruce Wayne. To the one who needed a new way to fight he left his tools and resources. To the one who honored batman as his friend and ally, he left a way to reach out to his successor. To the one who created his gadgets he left nothing but the knowledge that was already there for him to figure out he was alive. And to the one who was his foundation and supporter every day of his life, he made their dream of seeing him safe and happy come true. Just beautiful writing and direction.

Sure they were strangers, but Alfred loved Bruce too much to take that risk.
Probably one of the most iconic endings, just inspirational. I saw this in IMAX with my wife when it came out. Having Selina by his side is so batman no hard feelings just pure determination through the whole movie what a film what a trilogy hats off to everyone who made these possible
He planned his endgame almost from the time Fox introduced him to the Bat aircraft. He was tired of being the Batman and took Alfred's wish to heart...to have a new life.
In his own subtle way, Bruce let all his friends know that he is alive. Fox with the software patch, Gordon with the fixed searchlight, Blake with the batcave instructions. But Alfred is the only one who got to see him, making true Alfred's dream/fantasy. It is the perfect ending to the trilogy.
I always loved that Bruce and Selina get together and become a couple at the end of this movie. I always hate when people say that Catwoman is a villain. She isn't! Selina is a good person at heart, and Bruce deserves to be with her. That's why I always hate whenever they dont marry each other and become a couple in the comics and tv shows.
The way he answered it seems like showing how ironic the people of Gotham can be. Batman has been doing so much for Gotham, but the people want to hunt him down throughout the movies. Then he 'died' for the city and all of sudden he is their hero, even though he always is before he made such sacrifice...
its what bruce and gordon wanted...bruce does not need to be given credit...they wanted batman to be that symbol for inspiration good and change and they accomplished it ....i like how he lets blake know this when hes so upset...

Ah, I share your pain. I didn't watch this in the movies because I was a fool. I wish they would show it again... I did watch the first two but missed out on the most epic one.
What I love about this movie is it leaves us wanting more and asking questions about the ending. Nolan is a master of that in his films. He lets people think in his movies. Wish we have more writers/directors like that
I grew up in Taiwan, so Robin was not really my legal name. My first English name was Steve I think. My parents really like the Robin character in the 1995 batman movie, and they changed my English name afterward. Imagine my excitement when I was watching this scene in the theatre.
When Alfred sees him, he puts his credit card back in his wallet, knowing that Bruce already paid for his meal. It's also amusing to think that maybe *Bruce owned the entire restaurant* anyway
There is honestly not any other way to end this perfectly. This ending here is just perfect Batman died Bruce Wayned lived and finally got a peaceful life All the attemps of Ras,Joker and Bane to corrupt Gotham failed Gordon notices the symbol of Batman, realizing that there is still hope for a better tomorrow Alfred is releaved and happy, that after all these years, the man that he has taken care ever since he was a kid is now moved past that awful cave, became a normal person. Now he has fulfilled his promise to his parents, because Bruce was finally happy. Robin is born and now he is the one who will take the place of Batman as the new protector of Gotham I dare you to tell me a more fitting ending to this trilogy than this
It's perfect. I think when Gordon realized the searchlight he destroyed in The Dark Knight was fixed, he knew the Batman did it then smiled looking for him, knowing Gotham would always have a silent protector.
Christopher80611 if you really think about it, Christopher Nolan can easily adapt robin into future films considering how he alone has tons of story’s that could be made to live action
I love the fact that Alfred and Bruce are looking right into the camera during the final shots of the film. Yes, they’re staring at each other and bidding their farewells, but I can’t help but feel that Nolan did this as a way of bidding farewell to the audience simultaneously.
I was going through a divorce at the time. The woman was a narcissist did everything to tear me down. But when this movie came out and i went to see it to get my mind off things. This gave me so much strength just this scene alone. To know that life will always be hard and unforgiving. But we can still rise... up. To strive when it seems to dark to see. To not give up on the world just cause one tries to ruin yours because their's has always been ruined....... you will become what you need to be ... A Dark Knight. .. .. .. .. .. (also Zimmer score is so badass)
I love how after Alfred sees Bruce he immediately leaves as that’s all he was there for not the drink or the restaurant but a hopeful wish to see Bruce one more time
It also gets me when Gordon turns around smiling. He is all happy because he expects to see Bruce again like "any moment now!", not knowing he will never see him again
Strange, until now I never understood why Oldman touched the Batsignal like that. It finally hit me, Oldman destroyed it at the end of 'The Dark Knight'. It being fixed here, is Bruce his way of secretly telling him he's alive and well. All the important people in his life now know not to worry. Gordon has the Batsignal, Fox has the autopilot patch and Alfred gets the nod.
It’s amazing how deep Christopher Nolan makes these endings. The fact that the autopilot patch comes first, making the viewer confused, and then the Batsignal, and finally Bruce in real life, confirming our suspicion and making us realize each of those scenes was to tell Bruce’s friends that he’s still alive. People will be watching these films in 100 years.
KillerCreeper55 I agree far better and more realistic than the stuff Marvel keeps pumping out. I like a bit of realism in the stories which is why I like the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight series.
Never. Give. Up. Batman knows what it's like to give it everything he's got even when there's no credit, no gratitude, no respect. He keeps fighting for the people he loves. He never gave up.
Yea same here but i am glad i did not watch it at the times, because my own idiotic self at the time only cared about action only and never cared about story, so i would have been bored as hell 😅 but i was a different guy back then lol but this trilogy is amazing! 🔥 And sorry to bug you, but ur very gorgeous ❤️
@@BubblesZap agreed, irons was fantastic but Caine worked great with this Batman, really carried the weight of his parents death with him. The fact that he left a little of him to everyone he cared of: to Blake, his cave's coordinates; to Mr. Fox, the ID that he repaired the machine; to Gordon, the bat on the roof; and to Alfred, the mansion and the satisfaction of knowing he was alive.

What I don't understand is why they don't put whoever was in charge of this trilogy in charge of all their movies, or at least try to copy this style instead of trying to copy marvel, which they suck at copying marvel.
@HI EVERYBODY with their track record right now I can only hope they don't make a robin spin off, not after wonder women 2, that was the worst fillm in history, I didn't even spend any money on it or ever watch the full thing, but just knowing how bad and cringy it is....... No DC can not be trusted right now.
@HI EVERYBODY go ahead an say it dude..... Embarrass yourself and ruin any credibility you could have and say that wonder women 2 wasn't awful. Hey I'm a big fan of wonder women, wonder women 1 was ok not like a classic that I would watch again but it was good. Yeah DC hires new mangers and directors all the time and it's painfully obvious that they were trying to copy marvel and failed, they should stick with darker, more complex themed movies that shadow the comics like batman did.
What makes this ending so iconic is not Bruce kicking ass in a cape but his damn journey. He had been through so much like losing both parents, lover blown to bits, having to kill your mentor, wrongfully accused of killing cops, fugitive, back broken, thrown in prison and climbs out to save the city from nuclear destruction while believed to have been killed in the process... I personally believe he still died and it is more of a symbolic ending. Of course, he’s alive, but still the best nevertheless.
Is real because he stay with Catwoman and Alfred don´t know her or their relationship.
@@justinl.shults7217
I agree with most of it but the coffee place is not a place they used to go to together.
It is a place in Florence, Italy, where Alfred goes on vacation every year.
When Bruce was gone for many years Alfred kept imagining running into Bruce there, knowing that he had finally retired and found peace.

But why didnt they even talk?
@@ariantaghdiri7937 because interacting with him could have inadvertantly tied Bruce to his past. Bruce was starting a new life, completely leaving behind his old one. Alfred was a part of that old life, and so Alfred knew that approaching Bruce, even in front of strangers, would have endangered all of that. Sure they were strangers, but Alfred loved Bruce too much to take that risk.

Best superhero trilogy ever made. Ending was and will remain a masterpiece.
Probably one of the most iconic endings, just inspirational. I saw this in IMAX with my wife when it came out. Seeing Bruce rise up and overcome and finally have redemption and that clarity to be free was so great. He could finally live a life in happiness and not regret or vengeance for his father and mother. You got the sense that he could finally be happy and enjoy life .

That beat drop when Alfred sees Bruce gives me so much chills. Literaly the perfect ending to an amazing trilogy.
Alfred and Bruce's relationship is the heart of the trilogy and I loved that it ended with them showing their love and respect for one another!

Robin is born and now he is the one who will take the place of Batman as the new protector of Gotham
I dare you to tell me a more fitting ending to this trilogy than this

Bruce died too, i guess he got a new identity.
@@Findair yea, since he has that identity wipe software, he and catwoman can be anyone they want.
Christopher80611 if you really think about it, Christopher Nolan can easily adapt robin into future films considering how he alone has tons of story’s that could be made to live action
Now they just need to make a Robin movie directed by Christopher Nolan with Joseph Gordon Levitt as the lead.

A Dark Knight. .. .. .. .. ..
Wow thats nice haha
It’s amazing how deep Christopher Nolan makes these endings. The fact that the autopilot patch comes first, making the viewer confused, and then the Batsignal, and finally Bruce in real life, confirming our suspicion and making us realize each of those scenes was to tell Bruce’s friends that he’s still alive. People will be watching these films in 100 years.
