  • Laying out and digging a foundation...
Learn how to build a house, start to finish, with The Perkins Brothers!
"The Farmhouse" is a custom home for a Western North Carolina family that will sit high on a mountian near The Blue Ridge Parkway... And The Perkins crew will be filming every step of the build! They plan to release 2 videos per week following the progress.
    In this exciting episode:
Erik, Jaime and the crew uses the rented mini excavator to dig the Footings! The process begins by checking grade and the elevation difference between the two levels of the site with a laser level and a grade stick. The crew also has to widen the basement cut for the house to fit! Last the foundation is laid out with string lines and marked for digging. There is great info on how to do all of these things in the video... enjoy!

You'll never need to worry about cutting the wrong size, spin in circles or waste time trying to figure out what goes where... With ryan's detailed shed plans czcams.com/users/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu , it makes building sheds a breeze - just like putting lego bricks together! You'll be able to create the kind of shed, your neighbors and other woodworkers will secretly envy (while mumbling nice job under their breath).

You should really make longer videos guys. Just set the camera aside and film everything. Time lapse some stuff if you need to. I just finished work and would love to watch like a 45 min video of you guys building, it's so interesting and also that location is incredible. Keep up the good work guys.

So next time your digging footings ,line up one edge or tooth with the bucket out in front as far as it will reach, and then lift up with out (slewing )and move the bucket back towards you ,put it back down ,see if you are still on line then you will know if your strait.and don’t push down hard when you take the first initial scratches of the top ,let the teeth do the work until you get down past the crust, this will leave you with a neat trench and not big busted out wholes from the clods lifting out.use the back of the bucket to flatten out any humps of loose material.there is a guy on here who operates a backhoe he digs nice footers,I will see if I can find his site and get back to you.
