- Laying out and digging a foundation...
Learn how to build a house, start to finish, with The Perkins Brothers!
"The Farmhouse" is a custom home for a Western North Carolina family that will sit high on a mountian near The Blue Ridge Parkway... And The Perkins crew will be filming every step of the build! They plan to release 2 videos per week following the progress.
In this exciting episode:
Erik, Jaime and the crew uses the rented mini excavator to dig the Footings! The process begins by checking grade and the elevation difference between the two levels of the site with a laser level and a grade stick. The crew also has to widen the basement cut for the house to fit! Last the foundation is laid out with string lines and marked for digging. There is great info on how to do all of these things in the video... enjoy!

You'll never need to worry about cutting the wrong size, spin in circles or waste time trying to figure out what goes where... With ryan's detailed shed plans czcams.com/users/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu , it makes building sheds a breeze - just like putting lego bricks together! You'll be able to create the kind of shed, your neighbors and other woodworkers will secretly envy (while mumbling nice job under their breath).
Beautiful location! A friend of mine is involved with the NOC and he's always telling me how beautiful it is there in that region of NC...now I believe him.
Nice! My parents both used to work at NOC
I'm 15 and i love to watch this videos because I learn a lot. When I graduate I want to work in construction.

Always a beautiful sight to see a new PBB vid on my notifications

I'm watching during a meeting at work. Boss can't stop me.
Haha haha The return of the Perkins brothers! I already love this series and you haven’t even started the framing!
Thx for this episode Erik
Hit the like button! I know I did
"Bob the builder" this guy is so funny 🤣🤣
You should really make longer videos guys. Just set the camera aside and film everything. Time lapse some stuff if you need to. I just finished work and would love to watch like a 45 min video of you guys building, it's so interesting and also that location is incredible. Keep up the good work guys.
Thanks! I cut lots of things out to make the videos flow, but I’m not against longer!
Agreed longer content!! You guys are awesome
Hey they can't give away all that knowledge for free, gotta keep some tricks to the trade
Another vote for longer vijeos.
Longer all the way!
I appreciate the work you and your crew does. I wish all of you continued success and happiness. Also, I'm grateful for all of the knowledge you are willing to share with all of us. God bless each of you.
fascinating to watch always!
U guys are rock band. The stage is right where you create another masterpiece
❤ this channel. I wanna see an episode when you’re grumpy! Just can’t believe you’re this happy all the time!
Another great start! Good luck guys

Off to a good start you guys, but I’m glad the Perkins brothers are there! LOL 👍👍👍😎🇨🇱

Hi watching your every build series all the way from GenSan City, Philippines...
Thank you so much for documenting your construction. Will learn do much from your experience doing this and your verbal notes on the details. Now I have so much homework to “see”! Lol
they keep getting better and better .... great job all of you
In Northern BC Canada the footings have to be 48 inches below grade level for frost protection.
In NB it is 8ft. :)
Loving all the Farmhouse series!
Man I envy you fellas. Do great work and seem to enjoy it and get along well. Keep up the good work and I hope y'all get a TV gig.
Absolutely love this. As a drafter I am usually in the office drafting the house, but never get the chance to go to the site. Exciting to see the construction sequence. With our team I will pay more than the usual attention to our documents. Thanks! Look forward to the build.

Another beautiful lot! Good for you!
Thanks... it’s a pretty fantastic place to be
This is fascinating. And then I realize I have 23 more videos to catch up. I can’t wait to watch!!
Always so impressed with people that can build like this. Love your videos.
I hiked the AT back in '08 through there. Got to see it first hand. It IS beautiful! Great work on the job today guys. The foundation trenches look good.
best building channel out there! always keeps me entertained! can't wait for more episodes to come
Im from philippines best video vlog i ever seen ,im addict not boring vlog
Restarting on this series for the second time. Love this house.
Absolutely love Bobcat excavators. We own a 418 mini -- absolute tiny guy, but fits through a 30" gate (or basement doorway). That machine does everything.
How could someone dislike this awesome content
Haha! Thanks buddy
Must be a competitor
i have already started watching fisrt part. it is excellent!
You do nice clean work ..... you take care of the job site .
I’ve learned a lot from your videos. Thanks guys!

Awesome job. I love you guys' work and the videos are easy to watch and follow along. Seems like a great crew to work with and the humor is always welcome...if not mandatory! Look forward to following along the entire project! And the "12-point inspection" line had me LOL!!!!
Good stuff...I hope to dig my basement foundation myself one day for my lot in north Georgia.
Y’all’s music is always on point.
Love the videos boys. Enjoyed the old school construction master pro.. get the app!!!
Jaime is by far your most valuable employee. The guy has everything and can do everything... except count to ten.
You won't see the gates of heaven.... see what i did right there HAAHAHHAHAHHA, that's how it feels.
Great start in the new series. Awesome bunch of blokes
I just realized you guys are in Western North Carolina, crazy. Been watching for a long time. I’m a carpenter in Asheville. If a job opens with you I will move to Bryson City 🤣 I fish the a lot around there. Very cool you guys are local, keep up the awesome work.
I'M HERE, WHAT DID I MISS
This is exciting! Can hardly wait to watch the build!!!
I love what you guys do
Love this channel.
I started to take watching you guys videos more seriously than TV dramas...is this normal? LOL
Really interested to see the building process during winter
Hey guys I started watching y'all a month ago and I'm a trim carpenter slash everything else 😂 and love y'all
Y'all are the greatest role models in 38 but I look up to y'all I wish I lived where y'all are so I could apply for a job.
Love you guys
From Palestine
I love these videos! These guys are funny, they sure make the learning process so easy.
The ol “Rake and Sharpie” measuring trick, learned that at VoTech, quite handy. 🍻
It’s interesting that down there so close to the coast that 6k feet high peaks are big!! My house is at just under 6k feet and the peaks around here get to 13-15k feet!!! Love the videos
Would it be possible to see the house plans sometime soon? Perfect answer would be yes.
Can do
😄✝️🇺🇸
Looking good!! Love the series!!
Thanks!! We are loving it too
I've been waiting for this one.💜😆
Looking good fellas!
You guys do quality work, that’s why I enjoy your videos💕

"ThAnks FoR bUiLdInG wItH uS tOdAy... bob the builder" let me tell you i died
Me too
Great video
“An apple a day keeps something away.. don’t remember what”
“Vampires”
“Yeah”
🤣🤣
Lunch break video hell yeah
We could really do a whole episode!
Well finished watching NOC, now this.
Looking good....Something tells me that the codes and the inspectors in Haywood County are going to be tougher than those in Swain County....
They are all pretty darn good to work with around here
I KNEW this was in western North Carolina. The Appalachians run through a lot of states, but a ridgerunner from North Cackalacki can definitely tell when he's looking at North Carolina mountains.
Nice job keep it up
Everybody stop working! I’m hungry!🤣🤣🤣
No joke! Lunch is important
Thanks for these videos they are great! Just Subed!
Keep up the good work. From The Netherlands.
Good info always!
Congratulions guys.. I just signed up.. you are fantastic...ciao from Italia ..Roberto ..drywaller
Do you mind suggesting making the episode longer by including more working days with more construction in one episode.
Sé que nadie me va a leer porque no sé inglés pero me gustó ver el trabajo que hacen para tener un mejor aprendizaje me gusta la albañilería y ese es mi trabajo Dios los bendiga
Great stuff ..Thanks guys
I’m definitely watching all you let house build playlists, I finished two of them in like a month 😂 now I’m on this one! And wait for the new one every week!
I love your guys’ builds! Come to Canada bc so I can meet you all! Haha I wish.
Hey thanks Arianna!
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers you’re welcome! 😌
Here we go again!
Oh yeah!
Love from india
So next time your digging footings ,line up one edge or tooth with the bucket out in front as far as it will reach, and then lift up with out (slewing )and move the bucket back towards you ,put it back down ,see if you are still on line then you will know if your strait.and don’t push down hard when you take the first initial scratches of the top ,let the teeth do the work until you get down past the crust, this will leave you with a neat trench and not big busted out wholes from the clods lifting out.use the back of the bucket to flatten out any humps of loose material.there is a guy on here who operates a backhoe he digs nice footers,I will see if I can find his site and get back to you.
Great video! Since the house is being built on a mountain top how will power be supplied to the site? Is it an off grid build?
Can't wait to see the other upload bro
Yeeey🖐
2:55 J: Hmmm, so this is a carrot on this farm? Looks yummy.
Yeah that was a really random plant to be growing up here!
Very nicely done indeed :)
Question, If your contractor dug 9 ft and that was too deep, why didn't you build the footings on the ground and add fill?
I don't belive in sunscreen 😂😂
Great episode. 👍
Appreciate it!
Curious what range these prepared lots go for. Also how far from walmart/large grocery store are these places?
First thanks for these, I'm from W. NC and I sure miss those ridges! I guess the snow at that elevation, that's sure to come, will be a hindrance to the project. Can you even plan for that reliably? Anyway, these start to finish builds are great!
czcams.com/video/p5DZY2NBXPw/video.html
Powerful video.
Thanks Joe
nice nice very nice
Who dug the hole? Get them back with a level this time!
Cherokee tribe does free excavation for tribe members, so can't complain. It may not be perfect, so we do the fine tuning.
