    Great video about a topic most have no clue. I wondered how you had such good water flow when using such long hoses. I actually added an additional 3/4" Woodford model 19 spigot with 3/4" Pex line from main coming into house so I could reduce the length of hose I am using to access my front lawn. Now I use 3/4" hose either 50' or 75' only. It used to take an additional 50' just to get to the front edge of my house and then another 50-75' to water. Bad design by builder who was also probably clueless. Thanks for all of your great video topics. I share them with many of my friends and neighbors. Keep 'em coming and stay healthy!!!

    Thanks Doc,
    I've been fumbling with a new home I have and trying to get 40ft of hose to give good pressure to feed my small lawn. And exact to your point my front spigots works ok with the valve splitter, but my back yard was very disappointing. And exactly in the middle is a 2 way 3/4 splitter with 2x 3/4 water hoses.
    I'm going to take your approach and try to daisy chain 2 25ft, 3/4 water hoses to that I can get 3 sprinkler heads to cover the yard.
    I'm on it Doc. Thanks

    Great video. Thanks.
    Pressure and flow are 2 different things. e.g. Imagine a traffic light-100 cars waiting for the green light. That's Pressure! The traffic light allows 10 cars thru then turns red. That's the flow restrictor. Thin pipes will restrict the flow but you will still have the pressure behind it. Like people going thru a gate..small gate, fewer people. Large gate, lotsa people. Few people waiting to get in, lower pressure.

    Interesting discussion. Thanks. BTW, Rhizoctonia (Brown Patch) is a soil borne fungus. It will likely keep reappearing every year in the same places. You can only suppress it with fungicide applications. Either live with it or remove / replace the soil with new, fresh material (not very practical though).

    Thanks for explaining. My pressure is almost 50 but it’s not enough to run my sprinklers correctly. I need to tap into the city line for more pressure.

    Eley uses 3/4 inch valves and quick disconnects. They are expensive but they don’t reduce gpm.

    I have 95 psig on my hose spigots. I went through several garden hoses, the pressure was too high causing the hose to fail in about 6 months. I bought a regulator that screws on to the spigot; set mine at 45 psig. Haven’t lost a hose since.

    Hey Doc, awesome tips. Man i just deleted a long story. So long story short...moved in to a house full of weeds. Used your tips they are working. Should i continue to dethatch removing the dying weeds or will bermuda rise up and take over? Thanks. By the way ever heard of tree root flares?

    just curious you said at 8 minutes that the water flow valves affect water flow but at 12 minutes you test the pressure through a water valve. Does the green valve at 12 minutes affect your gallons per minute the same as the valve at 8 minutes or is the hole bigger than the gray and black valve? I own the black and gray and wondered if a control valve allows for more volume.

    That new water line you put must of been $$$ form the water company putting in a new regulator where did it they run it and tie into main? The regulator was a add on or replaced a old one? The reason I am asking is because of the blue nomax piping

    Do you tap in to your water pipe before the meter?? I went down to look at my piping and there is about 6 inches before it gets to the meter and that's it??

    that 105 psi is static pressure(water isn't running thru nothing),therefore is not your dynamic pressure(pressure at which the water runs through your garden hose etc.) a 5/8" Garden hose works fine if 50' or less,if need a hose any longer than that should be upgraded to 3/4".(but a little heavier)

    I need help. The water pressure coming into my house isn’t very good, so I can only run one outdoor spigot at a time. Needless to say, it takes forever to water my lawn because my sprinkler just doesn’t reach out very far. What exactly can I buy to put between my outside spigot and my garden hose to supercharge that sprinkler. Thank you!!

    Water pressure is horrible here. I wonder if they have it regulated because of the plastic piping they used here?

    • @henrypaulson5692
      @henrypaulson5692 Před 4 lety

      Doubtful. Very few communities have too high water pressure. Are you on municipal water or a well? You may be at the end of the water main or a high point in town. Do you see a pressure reducing valve where the main comes into the house? Do you have a softener?

  • @mikejoyce3782
    @mikejoyce3782 Před 4 lety

    Long story short......I had 1" pipe from the meter to the house. Installed a 1" ball valve before the regulator (which was 100 psi before and 50 psi after) and set that as my spigot. I could water my entire front yard with one Nelson impact sprinkler.

    Little hint learned the HARD WAY. Don't touch the IN pressure without a plumber. It can go BAD very quickly.
