I can’t imagine what a vast gulf it must’ve seemed was left behind when Victoria died. It’ll be the same wherever Elizabeth II passes - the end of an iconic era. God save the Queen.

They had to ask the Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz for guidance as nobody knew what the protocol was. The Grand Duchess was 9 during the coronation of her Uncle William IV and she remembered the coronation of Queen Victoria too. They based the coronation of Edward VII on her memories.

@Huw Wilson Queen Victoria was a domineering Matriarch. She very much was in control of all matters and took her position seriously right to the end. She did have a sense of humour. She also did not suffer fools gladly and called a spade a spade. She could be very determined. Some might call that selfish, but never forget that she never forgot that she was the Queen Empress and stated that she held the greatest position there ever was.

All of Victoria's daughters were married. Beatrice (the youngest) was to remain unmarried. She met Henry of Battenberg at a family wedding. It was six months of silence and notes when Beatrice sought permission to marry. The family intervened, and Beatrice was allowed to marry--provided that the couple remained with Victoria.
As I remember, Toria (Alexandra's youngest daughter) did have one suitor (a Lord Roseberry)--byt she was not permitted to marry. Her other two sisters (Louise and Maud) married. Alexandra wanted Toria with her for companionship (this was expected in Queen Victoria's time).

I wish Prince Charles could see this series. It seems he could relate to some of the problems Bertie had all his life. I believe Charles should inherit the thro e because he has waited so long and he should be given a chance. But he may feel, like Bertie, that he can’t reign. But he should at least give it a try. I would be happy to see him,King at last. I know people are saying the monarchy will not last, but I think most people want it to go on as it makes them feel good. I believe they do serve a purpose in helping England. They bring people together. As long as they feel a duty to the people, they will be fine. Queen Elizabeth is great, she is so strong and keeps her head and she will be missed, buy I think the people will want Charles to take his place and be someone new,the New King. If the do away with the monarchy the world will be an even sadder place. It is a beautiful bauble for us all to love and enjoy. 32:10. Why does Victoria get so upset about Burtie kissing Mrs. Gladstone's hand?

Victoria was not fond of Gladstone. Victoria probably felt that the act of kissing the hand was more an act of homage that should have been for her.

In September 1861 Edward and Princess Alexandra (of Denmark) met and by December 1861, her pregnancy was obvious.
It is officially revealed Prince Albert furiously confronted Edward allegedly because of an actress but that was a cover to protect the Moral Standing of Queen Victoria and the Royal Family members.
Alexandra was sent to South Africa where she met the intended foster parents and in June 1862, their son was born, unannounced, baptized with an assumed name and sadly abandoned.
Alexandra returned home to become engaged to Edward and later married, thus legitimising their eldest son, whose descendants have irrefutable DNA evidence of their zero distance between them and the Royal Family relatives.
    Irrefutable DNA evidence.
