    The microcar segment has been on the rise lately with many new offerings not only from established automakers but also from smaller companies. This is the case of Slovakia's Patak Motors, which recently introduced the Rodster, a retro-looking heavy quadricycle inspired by classic sports cars of the '30s.
    Unlike most heavy quadricycles in the L7e class, the Patak Rodster looks more like a racing car than a city dweller. Features such as a single-volume hood, protruding round LED headlights and a short windshield would not look good on a Morgan. The fully exposed 19-inch spoked wheels come without fenders, while the grille looks quite unique. Personalization options include 5 exterior colors combined with exterior accents finished in chrome, gloss black or matt silver.
    The Rodster has a two-person cab with an optional manually operated sunroof. According to the website, it comes with a touchscreen as standard, although press photos show a plain wooden instrument panel with several analog gauges. The seats can be covered in eco-leather or leather, and an optional rear luggage carrier increases practicality. Optional features include heating, cup holders, wireless charging, parking sensors and a rearview camera.
    The Patak Rodster is 3,360 mm (132.3 inches) long, 1,360 mm (53.5 inches) wide and 1,395 mm (54.9 inches) high. This makes it 272 mm (10.7 in) shorter than the Fiat 500e, but a full 950 mm (37.4 in) longer than the Citroen Ami. As for weight, it stands at 450 kg (992 pounds), which is a typical figure for the segment.
    The internal combustion engine-powered version is powered by a small single-cylinder gasoline engine producing 20 hp (15 kW), which is the output limit for the L7e category. Acceleration from 0-50 km/h (0-31 mph) is completed in 9 seconds, while the top speed of 125 km/h (78 mph) is significantly higher compared to other heavy quadricycles.
    If you want a zero-emission Patak Rodster, you have two options. Both are equipped with a single electric motor producing the same 20 hp (15 kW) but have different battery packs. The base model has a 10 kWh battery and a range of 100 km (62 miles), while the other is upgraded to a 20 kWh battery offering a range of 250 km (155 miles). EVs are quicker and faster compared to their gas-guzzling brethren; It accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h (0-31 mph) in 7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 130 km/h (81 mph).
    The most affordable Patak Rodster is the ICE-powered version, which starts at €16,900 ($17,774). The all-electric model is priced at €22,900 ($24,084), or €25,400 ($26,713) if you want the version with a larger battery and longer range.

    Interesting. I'm planning to do a run of "mini morgan" style 3-wheelers about this size, shape and weight (sans one rear wheel). But, I'm thinking along opposite lines- acceptable but absolute minimal creature comforts/features to keep costs low and fun high. This gives me a great idea of scale and also, what to avoid- since I'm assuming they're shooting for a the up-market crowd with the bells and whistles. The stats on mine are roughly the same but power comes from a 250 cc Chinese ATV engine with built in reverse gear box. So, price should be more like 5-7k retail price. I'm semi-retired, so, more of a passion project than a business. Always cool to see what everyone else is working on! But, none of us tinkerers are going to sell a million of these toys- this one looks pretty comfortable I have to say! And, I wouldn't turn one away if offered :)

    It needs a mesh grill, that radiator is way to visible and prone to damage. 4 disc brake, not 4 brake disc. Otherwise it looks good, great job.
    Here in the US it wouldn't work, people don't like to be so close to each other. I'm building a Locost(Lotus 7 style car-Caterham).

    No fenders means it won't be road legal in the UK, unless quadracycles are exempt?!

    It had fenders in some shots, didn't look strong, probably vibrate off,as unsprung

      Just seen them on dragons den 16.900E pre-order for the petrol version but then again its just a slow caterham

    Wouldn’t meet roadworthy in most countries. The lack of fenders for a start.
