anyone considering attending this school SHOULD. I just graduated this year sadly I couldnt spend my last year on campus but I did 3/4 years. It is honestly one of the coolest campus/schools I could have imagined. Seriously dont sleep on this college!

i will probably be attending ucsd in the fall, what were ur pros and cons of attending ucsd, only thing I'm really afraid of is teh social life aspect I've heard that its basically what you make of it, how was your social life? ik the pandemic probably messed everything up but pre covid what was it like?

Nice video! Thanks! For those who wondered, Ted Geisel (Dr. Seuss) did not attend UCSD. The campus wasn't even built until the early 1960's, and by then Dr. Seuss was a successful author and illustrator. He did live in La Jolla, a wealthy suburb of San Diego, for decades, until his death in 1991.

The crooked house on top of an engineering building is called “Falling Star,” an art installation by artist Do Ho Suh.

Much of what we see in this video was not yet built when I attended UCSD in the early '70s. At around 10:50, it's John Muir College, which did exist when I was there. The library is the Geisel Library, named after Theodore Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, who lived in La Jolla and contributed to the university.

      To those above ^
This is just my opinion so it in no way represents the general consensus of the students at UCSD. I just feel like the campus life is very sterile, you’re just rushing to classes all the time. Quarter system makes it difficult for you to connect with others and form lasting and meaningful relationships (especially if you’re a commuter). Parking is an absolute nightmare and the tuition/board is borderline criminally expensive. I feel as though students here have a chip on their shoulder as most of us probably failed to get into our targets (UCLA/UCB).
Unless you’re intending to major in something UCSD is actually renowned for (STEM majors), you’re better off attending Cal states. I’m an international business major and I honestly feel the stuff I learn is largely inapplicable and there are other programs at SFSU/SDSU/SJSU that have better disciplinary focus.
I’m graduating this summer without learning much, making new friends or having any lasting positive memories about this school. Perhaps a part of it was because of covid but I dreaded going to school when classes were still in person.
Once again, I should have framed my initial comment better and I’m not saying UCSD is a terrible school. I would just encourage incoming freshmen or transfers to explore all possible alternatives before committing to this school. It is still possible for you to have a much more fulfilling and positive experience at UCSD than I did but really think hard before you ape into committing to UCSD.

College is honestly what you make of it and some people (such as myself) just aren’t able to see the true merit in attending college. Once again, I’m just a dude on the internet and it’s my own opinion. I’m sorry I won’t be able to give you a truly unbiased opinion and I wish everyone nothing but the best.

@@dwayneyap2175 Thanks for sharing your experiences and opinions bro. I’m a freshman in hs and I was watching this campus tour because I have to make a research paper about future colleges I want to attend. To be honest I never really thought about the social aspect when choosing colleges and I didn’t really understand how meaningful and long lasting those relationships can be. I wasn’t really planning on going to ucsd in the future but when I am at that point of time where I have to choose, I will definitely take what you said into consideration
