Late summer afternoon, I'm staying home and whenever I turn to my right, I see our garden from my window. It's bathed in sun, scorching, it's impossibly hot and humid. All of a sudden, before I even notice, dark replaces light, heavy metallic rainclouds veil the sky as far as eye can see and the ominious sounds of thunder penetrate the thick air. I open my window and inhale the scent of static in the air. Nature stalls for a few moments. There are no birds in the sky, no bumblebees occupying the sweet lavender, not a leaf rustles in the wind, only silence and static. The thunder sends one last warning, winks at us bellow, sparks fly and then there's downpour. The rain falls in thick uninterrupted ropes of rejuvenation. I'm still at my window, the world has become a blur of colors, the raindrops jump from my petunias straight onto my glasses. Bink's sake comes on, I had a bad day so far, but it doesn't seem so bad anymore.
