Hot Take! That one single Season 9 Episode made me hate Jonathan almost as much as Elise. While people hate Season 9 for how many extra chances Elise got, at least I got the satisfaction of seeing Jonathan go home right when he should go home. Also, Chef Ramsey referencing the One Armed Bandit himself, Dave, to demonstrate how pathetic Jonathan's "neck pain" was, is hands down one of my favorite moments of Season 9.

Now that the season is complete on youtube, I must say that I am surprised that there is so much talk solely about Elise.
Like, don't get me wrong, she's still the worst. But she's not the only jerk that season.
I'd say she even stands out little in the first three episodes. Mostly because her bad attitude is focused solely on Carrie, who can also be annoying. She even seems nice.
Obviously there comes a point where all that chaos affects the whole team, and that's when Elise starts to annoy everyone.

You missed one moment in Trev's worst episode that made him bad. During the punishment, despite him having the worst dish, he pulled a Matt (season 16) and said "Hey man, I don't give a shit. One opinion. That's all that was.", as if her opinion didn't matter. Of course, that got Brett upset (and rightfully so), and he stated that the opinion is from one of the great chefs in the world and her opinion means the world. Despite that, Trev responded with "Yeah, that's alright. I know who's good. I'm not gonna let it get me down." And of course, Brett continues to defend the judge chef in the confessionals stating he lost respect for Trev, that the judge is one of the greatest pastry chefs ever, and that her opinion does matter. This may be a weird longshot of a thought, but I’ve always wondered if Simone was trying to pull a Petrozza: Willingly throwing herself up on the chopping block, in a vain attempt to stay in the game (whereas Petrozza doing it was him being genuinely sincere). At least with how it was edited, Simone did look genuinely disappointed that Ramsay chose her after that stunt.
If there’s some extra context/after-the-fact info I’m missing in relation to that, I’d love to hear it. Genuinely curious since I haven’t had the chance to watch that season myself.

Heather’s last two episodes were a horrendous downfall for her, a runner up. The episode where the final six compete for the black jackets- Heather served 2 awful dishes and one safe one that got her in last second. Then the next episode, she first messes up the ‘taste it now make it challenge’ by serving a broken hollandaise and a broken egg yolk. Then she goes on and on about how Mia is horrible during dinner service during the punishment. Then during dinner service she completely flops- no communication and Motto has to take over her station.
She had been doing well/pretty decent all season- not the best of course but not this bad

Louis in season 8 had a terrible episode, he was the first post Raj elimination chef to make Ramsay spit his ravioli dish out and he had a terrible night on meat and even p***ed off chef Scott by bringing a pork chop to him in his hand, he got berated for it and later eliminated over a chef who ditched his team to wash dishes. Rob in season 8 got 0/4 on the blind taste test costing his team the win and also was kicked out of the kitchen for screwing the fish dishes up non stop.
Danielle in season 10 failed terribly at the mexican challenge by not being able to wrap a burrito, she was also one of the 12 or many chefs who got kicked out on Mexican night by sending up raw pork to the pass. Patrick in season 10 also delivered a dish in the challenge along with Dana which didn't get a point and was one of the 2 chefs who got kicked out the kitchen in the blue team and was eliminated.

Tbh I’m surprised Seth wasn’t eliminated over Charlie, one questionable elimination that doesn’t really get talked about along with LA over Carol in that same season. And atleast Trev made it farther than expected as after seeing s8, I feel like for the power rankings he was the weakest veteran going into that season. Some other idea I’d like to see are great chefs who nearly didn’t get the black jacket and bad chefs who nearly did get one.

    • @rayewaddell9668
      @rayewaddell9668 Před 2 měsíci

Well to be fair, Charlie was pretty clueless back to back services. I mean before his boot episode, he had to be bailed out by Ben on the garnish station. Now his boot episode was pretty poor. Not only did he struggle to get food out, but he also did poorly as a waiter causing a bunch of accidents. Even if Charlie did outlasted Seth, he would’ve been the next one to go either way so considering that Seth went the next episode after his boot episode, I can’t complain too much.
Now as for LA, she pretty much started the episode off with a terrible impression by deciding to sit out in the Blind Taste Test. After that her fate was sealed along with a poor dinner service. LA was mid on the line overall so I think 8th place was fair enough for her. The interesting thing about Carol now is that she was the first contestant in history to get booted off from the winning team over the choices of Ben & Robert on the blue team so in the end, Carol got the ultimate surprise elimination.

@@raghavsrinivasan8515 Right and realistically, he could’ve eliminated Matt from the winning team instead or better yet eliminate Matt during service and still eliminate Louross after service so that way the season would’ve been 5 black jackets instead. While I’m not saying that Louross was a terrible chef, but it’s just that he was the main reason why the blue team lost due to his issues on the meat station if we take Matt out the picture and I can only see Louross make it to 6th place even if he did make it to Black Jackets so he would’ve been booted off the next episode. Overall Matt got pretty lucky to be on season 4 instead of the next season because yikes. And in Matt’s case, he worked with a migraine, lol jk🤣

I'm going to make 3 points
one is a critism of Ramsey and how the show regularly presents illness on the show (namely like those who are dealing with it are basically pathetic unless it nearly kills them or they beat it) its honestly disgusting and is a example of how the old chief teachings from France are disgusting as mental health and physical health issues so regularly get ignored in those kitchens to the point of major problems
the second is regarding Ramsey alone that being how his standards refer only to people that are ultimately badass people and not incredible chiefs. because although a pinched neck nerve isn't life ending taking such issue with a chef for mentioning to you a health issue and comparing them to a guy who was a major badass person not just a cook is such BS
the next is one of annoyance about public perception that being trev. although yes he had a crap service and episode he did deserve to go home. but the show and the audience as shown in this video have a tendency for villainizing the fact the dude was being harassed by the other competitors and because of it turned to one of the actual chiefs to get a fair shot is also such complete BS as at no point during that season was trev not under some form of harassment (and yes I'm saying harassment not bulling as we should call it what it is instead of the crap term we use to excuse those behaviors)

@@jamesryan6008 Yeah...poor poor Matt. His head hurts. This morning I had a sinus headache that hurt if I did so much as cough the tiniest bit. But when there is work to be done you do it...unless you are dying there is no excuse not to. It's mind over matter... ignore the pain and get through. Also I have an extremely high pain tolerance. I fractured my back when I was ten and only cried after it happened because of the shock of the fall, not because it hurt... honestly I really didn't feel it until later that night after I came home from the hospital. Then I broke my knee at fourteen and walked on it for months before we figured out all that was wrong with it...had surgery to repair a torn ACL, replace my knee cap because it was dislocated, and reduced pressure off my thigh muscle...was on crutches four around three or four months (At least at school) and the worst part was after the surgery. I would walk around my house and my friend's house without using the crutches because I found it easier to get around... even though I really wasn't supposed to. Once told someone at school the first day back after that I was going to use one crutch and she told me not to do that. If she only knew that I really didn't use them at home 😂. I just never felt the need to complain unless I couldn't take the pain anymore. My other knee is a mystery what is wrong with it. My hip i injured in a car accident, but never went to the hospital. Same for my shoulder. My elbow I first injured at 12 and then again at 18 and it is permanently dislocated to the point that it has pinched a nerve causing most of my right arm to be numb. I feel no pain in that arm...so much so that I have burnt it a lot without noticing. Only one time did I feel it when I burnt it and that was after my oven door slammed on it. Had my first and only third degree burn... didn't go to the hospital either. Just kept it clean and had burn cream on it. You work through the pain no matter what. There is no time for it.
