- Recently I was asked about my EDC knife. Well, 95% of the time I have my Half Face Blades - Disaster Breacher Jr on me. It’s the perfect size, extremely sharp and the best made knife in my opinion. To me, it’s just the best knife out there for concealment, self defense and general utilization.

I got lucky and purchased a disaster jr before HFB got insanely popular. The resale value of these knives is crazy too. I carry the Disaster nearly every where especially when outdoors. Been in the market for a hunter skinner.

The Disaster Breacher Jr is my first Half Face Blade and I really like it. I ordered it and a Winkler Blue Ridge Hunter and I cannot decide which I like the best for carry. Its shaving sharp, looks great and feels good in my hands
Nice! Changing the EDC when you have a blade you love. But, if you got both switch off, here or there, and use both!

Half Face's full on custom knives are costly - but if you get one with the plain G10 slabs, they are priced well within reason. HFB currently has the 10" OAL, 5" blade Crow Scout with plain G10 slabs on their website for $385 which is comparable in size and price to a Winkler Drop Point crusher. These are not Glock field knives for $43 on Amazon. HFB and Winkler knives are well worth the price if you want a high quality, well made knife that you can count on for EDC, defensive use, camping, bushcraft or SHTF.
How on earth do you get hold of one of these? Live in the UK.
I've tried to get a blade on the last 30 or so drops and everything is gone in literally 1-2 mins. CAV, Disaster breacher, Crow Jr, in that order. I think I need your internet lol. Great reviews on these amazing blades.

my EDC knife is a sheffield folder, holds an edge, my truck knife is a Rat 5,
Which one would u recommend for EDC but also hard use outside? Is the jr big enough to do all the things the bigger size can do? I do landscaping just wondering which would be better.
That’s a great question, if I could only carry one knife and size or weight was not as issue, I’d go with the full size. (It’s only about 1.5” longer, but that’s more than I like to carry and “Print” when I carry) It also depends on what I’m wearing. I wear a lot of office attire and this knife doesn’t stand out so much with it’s smaller size.

Will HFB sharpen a HFB blade if you send it to them?
They totally will! I would recommend you email the shop just to make sure and they are busy so it may take a bit, but it’s totally worth it! They have amazing customer service!
How do you sharpen your Disaster Breacher JR?
I use the Lansky deluxe sharpener. It takes a bit longer but the knives get soooo dang sharp!
