I started following Dave Ramsey a few years ago and have been a cash budgeted ever since.
We read Dave’s book and set us off on a debt free journey
Finally, I'm not the only one!
Now there’s two of us.
New Subscriber here. I just found your channel. It is great to be here following another couple on a journey. Great video.
Thank you for subscribing.
Household supplies are not groceries. I buy supplies and toiletries at Target, where the price is lower.
Thanks for the tip
Thank you for your content. I agree with you about spending too much with the debit card. I found I spent too much with food over Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am going to do the cash for groceries as well. I do think this will help.
Let us know how that works out! So far it’s working well for us, although it’s strange having a pocket full of change since we’ve been using our debit cards for so long.
She sounds like Pam from The Office
That’s so funny that you said that because people at work said the same thing
Not only I use cash 99% of the time, I also don't use $20 bills, only $10 bills.
Great idea!
Inflation at the grocery store has been dramatic. That’s likely why you went over budget so badly. We are not accustomed to food costing so much. It’s very natural to just grab things and throw them in the basket, but we can’t do it anymore.
It’s crazy how prices have gone up!
It's easier to swipe plastic than to hand someone a bunch of 100 bills.
Yes, we saved a lot by not using plastic
I wouldn’t buy new furniture. Things get damaged in a move, and the furniture you buy may not be suitable for the new home.
Totally agree, last time we moved the movers damaged our furniture
@@OurRetirementJourney I’m glad you read my comment. I think it’s better to buy new furniture for your new home. Also, the deliverymen will place it exactly as you want it and the store will be responsible for any damage that occurs.
Ive always been a fan of cash. Especially since after i paid off 16k in credit cards 😂 good vid
Congrats on paying off that amount of debt!
Sounds like you guys are empty nesters? How has your budget changed now that you don't have dependents? (Assuming you had children at home?)
We thought we’d be saving a bunch, but traveling to visit the kids costs a lot.
@OurRetirementJourney
Dang it! Life is so expensive these days (4 kids at home) I was hoping to hear you say it was considerably less. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.
Good luck when the CBDC comes in later this year.
Yea, I guess we’ll have to get more disciplined with cards.
