I use mud (drywall mud). I have it tinted to the color I'm going for (Home Depot don't it for me in the past). Then I use large putty knives to apply. After it dries & hardens I take fine steel wool & the edge of the putty knife to deepen the color. In the end u get the same effect but w mud u can create any texture/ design u want. It's also a fraction of the cost. I think it also b easier than this process only requiring 1 coat of mud, u don't have to sand entire wall, & it does not require any sealant.
If ur doing a large wall u should use regular mud. Hot mud dries real fast.
Mud is also environmentally friendly & doesn't affect those who r chemical sensitive.

Room looks great. Would ditch the pillows with the pink, though, and bring in the tone of the rusty brown sofa to tie it all together. And take down the mirror by the windows...too cramped.

?? can one use pure beeswax to wax furniture or should other things be mixed in some told me the other day that turpentine should be in but I would rather not have that kind in my home and I use pure beeswax on my kitchen wood things when they come out of the dishwasher such as cutlery with wooden handle pots and the like
