I hope they upgrade the energy efficiency of this place during the makeover. No point living in a renovated house if its still cold in winter and hot in summer.

I love your thinking in making a retaining wall garden and reviving the decking. You might next time wish to paint/stain both sides of the retaining wall wood (the inside, against, the earth as well) so it doesn't rott from watering the garden.

1980's? Must be early '80's as it has typical features of the 1970's. That enclosed patio was very popular in the early 80's.
It's a bad idea putting the toilet in the bathroom, a separate loo with a hand basin would be better.
