Two of them could’ve easily saved Dahmer’s youngest victim (14 year old Konerak Sinthasomphone), but they instead did the exact opposite and actually escorted Dahmer and the barely conscious little boy back to his apartment because Dahmer had told them that Konerak was his 19 year old boyfriend and that he was just drunk, and the two policemen just took that at face value (there’s no way they could’ve legitimately believed such an obvious lie).
Dozens of Dahmers got caught much earlier in their criminal careers. It's just statistics that one of them would last unusually long.
