- Ever wondered what it was like during the Oklahoma land rush? My chuck wagon and I are on a mission to homestead the Oklahoma frontier. With a good set of pioneer tools and a little bushcraft knowhow I'll struggle my way through this and hopefully survive my first year of off grid living in the old west.
In this episode I finish putting the cedar planks on the roof. The roof still isn't water tight but there's still a lot more work to do on it. This is not the first time I've found mice in the chuck box and it's not the first nest I've removed either. A few days after filming I managed to capture all three of the mice using my coffee pot and relocate them. With the mouse that had been living in the cast iron stove I can't believe I didn't see him earlier, I'm going to have to be a lot more careful in the future because the rattle snakes will be coming out of hibernation soon.
Thank you for watching and if you enjoy the video please remember to give it a thumbs up! I plan on making these videos for years to come.
God bless,
Will

From a rural tropic island Nicaragua, when a vital tool breaks in the middle of nowhere, I thought I was the only one, I felt your anger frustration and disappointment. But we move on and persevere

Mice don't normally just run away and disappear, especially after they have discovered a food source. They will keep coming back until you kill them, one way or another. Thanks for the video.👍👍👌👌
Yeah they came back. There is a huge mice population on the property, I'm shocked I don't see more snakes.
@@WesternPioneer get some farm cats or dog
I love that you still say grace too. 😊

Great content and a good watch. From Sodus NY
You know, sad to say, but that soddy was probably put together with more craftsmanship and care than half the track housing being thrown together today and situated in a lot better scenery.

Hi I'm really enjoying the vidoes. From South Africa
Indiana, another great video.
I’m glad you have finally had a roof covering your homestead and sure you slept well under it.
The mouse was cute and wouldn’t be harmful, I hope. You have no dog around you on the site and some of the fauna could be your good friends.

Good luck with the mice! Food you cook always looks amazing!
Hello, iam watching from Germany… you make great Videos! 🤠
From Missouri
Missouri. Great video. im a living historian, I think you did a spectacular job with these videos!
Nice! Thank you so much. You probably have a lot more knowledge and experience than I do so I'm open to any constructive criticism or advice. I'm sure I have a long way to go to being historically accurate.
In the old days, like the 1800's they would have used square nails and put clay in the cracks to keep a tight seal . But you still did Speculator ! I hope you make more videos. Wish I could build one here in missouri
@@midwesthistorycomesalive1895 I'm definitely making more, the next one will be out in a few days. And thanks, I just ordered some square nails!
@@WesternPioneer your welcome, I'm glad I could help out .
Love the content. The difficulties & not so perfect attempts are what make your vids appealing to me…
I appreciate that! I've never done any of this before so you're watching me learn as I work. I'm sure the early pioneers were new to a lot of this too especially if they came from big cities back east.

See meals like the one you made in this episode are 100% more believable than any of the other ones you've made. I still wonder were you get that butter from. Is there a churn in your wagon? I didn't notice it. And another thing, whare your horses?
I haven't found a good churn to buy yet but I'm looking for one to add. And I wish I had horses, my hope is that I start getting enough money to be able to afford them. Slowly I'll make everything more and more true to life and more historically accurate.

Will the wagon fit up under you're shelter to keep out the weather ? If not dig some ruts with a pick ax to roll in, i like your cookstove i have same one ive cooked many a meal in my cabin with. Enjoy this program from Toccoa ga.
I can't with this shelter but one of my next builds will be workshop that I can roll the wagon into. I want to preserve it as best I can.
