    Aside from the failure of trying to cut tempered glass, NEVER cut regular glass dry like this with a grinder. Fine glass dust is one of the worst things you can possibly breath in. It never breaks down, only cuts & abrades lung tissue & scars up afterwards.
    Water feed with a slower moving diamond blade specific for glass.

    LOL, yep! At least you were honest enough to share with people who had no idea. If you're ever in doubt whether it's tempered or not, put a pair of polarized sunglasses on and look for the quench marks in the presence of a bright light source. I sanded and polished a chip from a very expensive piece of glass once. Even though it worked, I will never do that again!

    There are a couple ways to determine if glass is tempered. First, many times there will be a logo acid etched in a corner of the glass indicating that it is tempered. Second, tempered glass will be very hard to score.

  • @dustinarmstrong6389
    @dustinarmstrong6389 Před 2 lety +1

    Ok people tempered glass can not be cut down. Tempered will always be in showers, side lights that means beside doors or lami, glass in doors can be tempered or lami, only 2 safety glass, look for a logo or stamp on the bottom right or top to see if it's tempered ,

    Question. If I'm using a tempered glass desk where the sheet attached to the metal frame is 48x27 at 3/16 thickness with a weight load capacity of 120lbs., and I wanted to increase the total weight load capacity, could I achieve that if I placed 2nd sheet of tempered glass with 3/8 thickness on top?

    Whelp....thanks I suppose LOL! I think the vibration is prob what did it. That glass is designed to shatter into a shitload of little pieces rather than large odd (stabby, cutty) shaped pieces. I'm wondering if since it is tempered, should the temper be taken out of it....? Heat the glass up and let it cool on it's own...how hot....haven't a clue. Maybe use a spade shaped cutter too

    It can be done, but you used a stone cutting disc instead on an actual diamond deb grinding wheel. Also, you failed to think of the heat. No applied cooling.
    the glass heats up in one small spot quickly and then the stresses cause it to shatter. Nice try though..
