- Tried this DIY Experiment when renovating my bathroom. Kinda crazy but thought I’d try it! Do not attempt! Kids don’t try this at home! 😉😉 Here’s to all the DIY failures!

Yeah bro, you helped a hell of a lot of people with this one video. THANK YOU!!!!!
Right on bro!
@@DVSVentures you saved our lifes bro!! Without your vid many of us almost did this...
Aside from the failure of trying to cut tempered glass, NEVER cut regular glass dry like this with a grinder. Fine glass dust is one of the worst things you can possibly breath in. It never breaks down, only cuts & abrades lung tissue & scars up afterwards.
Water feed with a slower moving diamond blade specific for glass.
You took 1 for the team, thanks man.
Did anyone else watch the whole video and still decide to learn this lesson the hard way? If like me and your thinking about scoring it then heating it up and then rapidly cooling it don't bother lol
I feel you! I did this too and was glad I was outside when I did this. It exploded and rained glass everywhere. My cat, who was outside when I snipped down with the pliers went flying! I've never seen my cat fly into the house before. That was pretty wild. Thanks for sharing!
🤦🏿♂️😂🤣🤣
Thank you for this. Already buy a saw, now on my way to return it
Fits in the bin far easier now
Yep lol
I totally already knew what was going to happen but it could not have been funnier to watch Good job!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
I'd say you had the right attitude. Thumbs up for that.
Thanks
@4:40 HAHAHHAHAHAHAH. Thank you for taking one for the team. I was about to do my own cut for my shower too. x)
I’m glad it help
Aw man, that sucks. I was really rooting for you.
Thanks. You win some you lose some
LOL, yep! At least you were honest enough to share with people who had no idea. If you're ever in doubt whether it's tempered or not, put a pair of polarized sunglasses on and look for the quench marks in the presence of a bright light source. I sanded and polished a chip from a very expensive piece of glass once. Even though it worked, I will never do that again!
We learn a lot through your video.
Sincerely thanks for your educational video..
I like this video and your attitude towards the result. 😂
Thanks
There are a couple ways to determine if glass is tempered. First, many times there will be a logo acid etched in a corner of the glass indicating that it is tempered. Second, tempered glass will be very hard to score.
Ok people tempered glass can not be cut down. Tempered will always be in showers, side lights that means beside doors or lami, glass in doors can be tempered or lami, only 2 safety glass, look for a logo or stamp on the bottom right or top to see if it's tempered ,
4:42 him marking out glass and explaining the job ..... Used an angle grinder with a diamond disc and shattered the glass the end
Can't believe you tried it
You did exactly like me. Blowup in thousand pieces directly.
😆 🤣 😂 I justed pissed myself lol
Lol🤘🏼
i give u a A plus for the try,i was watching cuz i was going to try...i guess not now.....i like how u handled it,calm..unlike me LOL good day to you sir
I went in to it with low expectations lol
This guys did with 4" blade (not sure if steel or diamond)
czcams.com/video/RE5RCEzxmxY/video.html
Once I heard the machine spinning I said “ Oh no… It’s going to explode”
I wanted to do that one time, but everyone said it would shatter😂
Was so glad you highlighted SAFETY equipment!
I also was going to try to see if it can be done. Lots of glass shelving and such going to landfill. Would be great to be able to repurpose glass if it’s decent quality
Totally! I try to repurpose a lot of stuff I find in construction. Thank you so much for watching.
Dude, you get 90% of the available points, just for trying. A lot of other guys will learn from your experience and video!!
Well shit!, that answers my question...ive been told you can edge grind temp glass a little ..but thats it..
Fair play showing the mistake!! The reason I seen the video is I need to do the same and likely wud've tried to cut it using a power tool..if he hadn't went full speed starting the cut and tried to cut in one pass..... the diamond blade should cut it.....it would be a walking on eggshells job and messy if you fail...on second thoughts nah!! But thanks anyway
Lol. I’m still cleaning up small pieces.
Mate, trust me, NOTHING will cut it !!! I've heard it can be cut with a laser but who's got a damn laser? Don't do it.
Aight soooo if you put the glass in water and cut it by hand with a diamond bit the seismic pressure on all sides will evenly distribute the force
Question. If I'm using a tempered glass desk where the sheet attached to the metal frame is 48x27 at 3/16 thickness with a weight load capacity of 120lbs., and I wanted to increase the total weight load capacity, could I achieve that if I placed 2nd sheet of tempered glass with 3/8 thickness on top?
I would say yes. But there are different ratings for tempered glass so I would double check with the manufacture
Put a blanket down next time. Easy to collect up 👍
Thumbs up for trying and sharing . Looks like some people don't know how to read because you video is exactly what it says on title. Lot of trolls lol.. you did well in my opinion, keep sharing. Impatient people please call customer support at any glass company, they are professionals and they will awnser your questions instead of be whatching videos of guys who are sharing they experience, cmon don't leave those comments. If he is stupid you are more for end the video and leave a comment. Peace ✌ out ..
Thank you brother stay tuned we have more videos coming
Einstein of glass cutting.
😂
Lesson learned! Glad you used safety equipment!
Thanks for watching
excellent video from all angles.
Learn by doing; thanks for doing the trial and error for everyone else :D
Thank you 😊
Whelp....thanks I suppose LOL! I think the vibration is prob what did it. That glass is designed to shatter into a shitload of little pieces rather than large odd (stabby, cutty) shaped pieces. I'm wondering if since it is tempered, should the temper be taken out of it....? Heat the glass up and let it cool on it's own...how hot....haven't a clue. Maybe use a spade shaped cutter too
I would have tried to put of curiosity
great video i think scorching it is better but atleast we all learn thanks
That was way to much vibration lol.
10 out of 10 for effort and never saying cant.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video, I don't feel so bad now. Nice try.
Thanks thats why I put it up. I know its not the best video but if at least one person enjoyed it or got something out of it then it was worth the post. Thanks for watching!
Wish I saw this 24h ago, same thing happened to me using a glass scribe cutter lol luckily it was only 17gbp at ikea
i wonder what a welding torch will do...
I never tried it but maybe if you will have a hose spraying just a little water, maybe
you just saved me $500. ty
I’m glad
very informative
Thanks for making video so that others not to do same attempt.
Yikes! But expected
Me: Looks at the length of the video "I see where this is going."
It can be done, but you used a stone cutting disc instead on an actual diamond deb grinding wheel. Also, you failed to think of the heat. No applied cooling.
the glass heats up in one small spot quickly and then the stresses cause it to shatter. Nice try though..
How would you apply the cooling? Only on the line where the cutting happens? Please make a video with a technique that works... that would be so handy.
Exactly what it was supposed to do
The first thing that comes to mind.. did you try a glass cutter? I have done zero research on this, but I assumed a glass cutter would work.
not on tempered glass it won't
going through this problem today. but i only need an 8th.
.....😂😂😂....ive done this!
you tried it so i don't have to. lol
I appreciate you 😥
I appreciate you🤘🏼
I've seen it done with a tile saw
I'm not sure you wanted to cut that glass into that many little pieces.
I was told over and over again that it was gonna shatter but I wanted to find out for myself
Waterjet is the answer
nope, glass will explode on waterjet exactly as it did in this video. Tempered glass cannot be cut or drilled.
Thank you for making the mistake on camera so we don’t have to
I’m glad I could be of service
How about using plexiglass for the door?
You can. Plexiglass stains a lot easier and it’s more difficult to clean
Well I've got 4 sheets I'm gonna try to do it today anyways lol
Lol that’s what I said before I made this video! let me know how it goes
Skip to 5:17 for answer.
nice try. be safety 1st... tq.
Cutting with a grinder you need water so the friction don't heat up and bust the glass. Why didn't you just use a glass cutter?
a professional he is not , can't cut tempered, no mater, angle grinder, not recommended for cutting glass with any wheel, go to a glass shop, save money, time.
Tempered glass can not be cut at all
That’s a fact this guy should have known that , you can’t cut glass with a grinder either
You need diamond blade and water
If it breaks make a wooden one can never go wrong with that
This was posted 7 months ago, yet I can find videos from 2 years ago and older on this topic. You said you couldn't find any info at all on cutting tempered glass?
Action starts at 4.40 - glass shattered.
You're welcome.
How to break tempered glass at home :)
Thanks for commenting. Love sarcasm and a good sense of humor
Water, water and more water
It can be done. You need a better machine, and you must start from the border glass. It is like cutting granite (hardness) with the care of a dove. CZcams video from "A man in On"...how to cut tempered glass easily ( ). I hope it helps.
Yeah that was laminated glass NOT tempered. Of course regular glass can be cut, happens everyday. Tempered glass can only be cut by untempering it or with a special laser that costs more to operate than any shower door is worth so it's not something even the best glass shops will have. Its lab equipment.
Wat a hero
This is a violation of common sense! Wrong tool for the wrong job!
This guys did with 4" blade (not sure if steel or diamond)
czcams.com/video/RE5RCEzxmxY/video.html
This is why laminated glass is better, you can cut it and reuse it and when it breaks it holds together, on top of that it's cheaper than temp class.
Nope wrong lami is much higher price!
Welp.
hahahahahahahaha ! lol
Lol all that setup for those 5 seconds of fame
Use a tile cutter and wear some damn safety glasses!
Still no one! can cut tempered! When a professional tells you it's impossible, it is!
And no grinder! Not a home day project, go to a glass shop!
I failed 2 times.
Did you feel stupid? 😂
Lol Absolutely
I might try scoring it really deep with a cheap glass cutter on a smaller pane to see if it works. Cutting longwise im very confident won't work but a small straight line might work.
Nope can not cut tempered glass, anyone who says you can, is thinking of laminated glass, or just ignorant.
I wonder if you might have had better luck with a dremel, probably not, but still I wonder.
That is not a bad idea for another video might have to give that a try... Thanks for watching.
This video could have been 1 minute
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tempered glass cannot be cut. Been in the glass business for 10 years and counting.
Guess what, it can be cut. Before it is cut it must go through a process called annealing.
@@BADALICE then tour cutting annealed glass not tempered two different subjects
@@jonmorris4730 oh, yes, Well then you are completely right and I am completely wrong. What are you an Attorney?
If you bring me some tempered glass, I will have it cut, and return it to you tempered.
Yes, tempered glass can, and is cut all day long. It simply requires a bit more prep work.
Mincing words. Screw that.
@@BADALICE nope, just a glass man
@@BADALICE you are completely wrong.
Wkwkwkwk
4:40 Thank me later
Wasted my life watching you get ready ... ... half way through the video and still NOTHING done.
Agreed. I hand no idea what I was doing lol. Stayed tuned I have more videos coming and you can tell me if they get better
You’re fault-Just fast forward. Don’t need to hear your whining. Nobody cares. Don’t hate the man for putting out helpful content.
Get to the point Son.
Lol I’ll do better next time
@@DVSVentures you are good, the build up was half the fun
I was so rooting for you dude but thanks for eliminating one way let’s move on to another
Thanks bro
