Ooh boy. Overall, I think Carowinds had the best options to choose from, but man, the King's Island options are underwhelming. Here's what I would go with:
Carowinds: First choice would be the Super Flume. As another commenter said, theme it so that it ties into Copperhead Strike. That would be a huge success for the park. Second choice would be the Zamperla family launch coaster, since Carowinds isn't exactly stacked in family coasters. But overall, I'd choose the Super Flume. That area of the Carolinas gets crazy hot in the summer.
King's Island: I love the idea of a Mack Extreme Spinner, but they need to rethink that layout. I don't know if they're trying to be gimmicky or trying to save money on steel, but that ride would be a capacity nightmare. Plus, they already have Invertigo. This doesn't make sense unless they plan on getting rid of it. Make it a more traditional Mack Extreme Spinner ride like Ride to Happiness or Time Traveler and we'd have a winner. The dark ride could work if it's themed really well, like Sarah said.
Cedar Point: I'm gonna go with the Mack Water Coaster here. I've never ridden one, but it's the one ride on the list that seems different enough from what they already have. Tilt Coaster feels like it should go to a different park, but I don't know where.

I think if i was an passholder for those CF Parks then here's the perfect choices.
    - Carowinds - I would go with a Water Ride like Super-Flume or Water Coaster - (because the dry park does not has a water ride since the rapids closed), but i know some people would picked either the B&M Dive Coaster or Family Thrill Coaster better than an water ride.
    - Kings Island - I was thinking the MACK Extreme Spinner would work amazing at this amazing park but not as a Shuttle but a whole coaster instead. But another one i like was the Indoor Coaster because of well... Winterfest of-course.
But as for you Taylor, i do agree that a Vekoma Tilt Coaster would 100% work well at Kings Island because CP has a Dive Coaster at Cedar Point so maybe a tilt coaster would work so well at Kings Island.
    - Cedar Point - & finally & you know this one was so hard to choose, but either an Water Coaster or maybe Family Thrill Coaster could work at this park.

As Cedar Point pass holder with 4 kids under 11 years old, my vote is for a modern family thrill coaster. There needs to be another stepping stone between the kiddie coasters and the big boys. Preferably something with a 42" height limit.
I like what Busch Gardens is doing with Phoenix Rising. Not saying that it has to necessarily be a B&M Family invert, but something comparable to Phoenix Rising as far as specs and layout goes.

  • @skystreak1983
    @skystreak1983 Před měsícem +1

I agree, that spinning tower coaster sounds like something I would try once and then never touch again. Low capacity and too gimmicky for either park. Something like Time Traveler would be a much better fit.
Of the options presented, I think the dive fits best for Kings Island. They already have a family launch coaster and an indoor coaster, and Valravn is the only dive coaster in the area. None of the other nearby parks have one. So unless they plan to retire Backlot or Flight of Fear, I think they go with the proven, reliable, easy to market option.

Dive Coaster: Not a great choice for any of these parks. Would be a fantastic choice at a different Cedar Fair property that didn't already have a giga (WOF 2026?).
Water Coaster: This is my pick for Cedar Point as a spiritual successor to Shoot the Rapids and White Water Landing. It gives them a family friendly coaster and a modern water ride all in one, which are two major ride styles the park is lacking.
Super Flume: My pick for Carowinds from the options. They don't have a single water ride, so a gigantic flume ride would be an excellent addition to the park.
Family Thrill Coaster: This is what I consider the safe option in that it would be a great addition for any of the parks but probably is the least needed at them as well. Personally, I'd say this would be better as a follow-up to Iron Menace at Dorney.
Indoor/Outdoor Dark Ride Coaster: My personal pick for Kings Island. Not only would it be a really cool coaster for any regional theme park (especially if the interior matches the level of detail Cedar Fair has been doing lately), but it would also give them another coaster that could likely operate during Winterfest.
Tower Coaster: Very weird concept that only really makes sense for a smaller park with space constraints. Could maybe see it at a park like Valleyfair, but it would be a pretty poor option anywhere bigger due to capacity constraints.
Tilt Coaster: As much as I'd love to see parks invest in these, it's far too low of capacity for somewhere like Cedar Point. Where I think this could be really cool is as an eventual Anaconda replacement at Kings Dominion, especially if it had the tilt drop into an underwater tunnel.

We had the rapids who’s still sitting and rotting, the chute to chute which Copperhead Strike is now occupying and the log flume which was removed for Thunder Stryker. Great point about the tilt coaster being a better fit for King's Island. Cedar Point and Carowinds both could use a solid wooden coaster (and it seems like Mystic Timbers was a success for KI so I'm disappointed we aren't seeing more with that). I've been to all 3 in the past year and I want to see the family launched coaster for Carowinds (though they also have Kiddy Hawk), a Tilt/Extreme Spinner for KI (they have no shortage of family rides), and a family launched at CP (albeit different, maybe something like Big Bear Mountain).

It's interesting how Carowinds and Cedar Point both have a great top 5, but are lacking in quality depth, especially Carowinds, but Kings Island has the opposite problem where they have plenty of mid tier and family rides, but are lacking that world class attraction that will draw people from all across the country. I think the 300 foot dive coaster makes a lot of sense, even though Valravn exists, because it would provide something unique. I understand everyone wants a tilt coaster, but what's really the difference between a tilt coaster and a dive coaster other than the manufacturer?

For Kings Island, this may be an unpopular opinion, but the park needs a clear #1 coaster, and it really should go in the old Vortex plot of land. Mystic Timbers is just outside my Top 40 and would be a great #2. Orion is good as well. I think either a ground up RMC (Zadra or Arie Force level) or a full circuit Mack Extreme Spinner (Ride to Happiness level) are the option for that plot of land considering what KI already has. Not sure of the Tilt coaster would be the #1 they need in my eyes. It would be an interesting addition though. Not sure you want to stick that in the back of the park. Seems like it could replace Invertigo in the front of the park.

For Carowinds, I think that the dive coaster will be the better attraction, but the worst fit. It lacks both a good family coaster and a water ride and I think the launched water coaster will be a great fit since it combine the two (+ it looks to duel a bit so that's cool)
For KI, they already have a giga so I'm not going with the dive, and they also already have an indoor coaster so I'm not going with the family indoor neither. The family coaster collection of the park is decent so I think this is the park that need the less the family shuttle coaster and the Xtreme spinner looks like the better fit (and nobody says the layout will be just a stall and a spike) since they don't have any spinning coasters and this could only make their coaster collection better
For Cedar Point, why not the water coaster but they already have water attractions so I let this one to Carowinds, and for the Xtreme spinner, they already have a shuttle coaster (+ it's way taller) and a spinning coaster, so I don't think this is the better option. The tilt coaster will be great for a thrill ride but Valravn is also a gimmick coaster that use a dive effect and I don't think the park needs two of them (even if this is not the same and looks way better). The family coaster collection here is not as bad as Carowinds but still lacking, so the family shuttle is what I'm picking

    Here are my opinions:
Carowinds - Water Coaster, or Super Flume! CAROWINDS NEEDS A WATER RIDE!! The park gets incredibly hot, and the only way to cool off is at the water park. But sometimes the water park will be closed for the day, and you’ll be burning the hell up. I went the Carowinds recently, and I was so ridiculously hot! A water coaster would be PERFECT for Carowinds! And that 300ft dive coaster is a terrible idea. Praying that we DONT get that.
Kings islands - Tilt Coaster! If I had to choose from the 4 they picked, I go with the indoor coaster, or the family thrill coaster. But I agree with y’all that the tilt coaster NEEDS to go to kings island. Cedar point has a dive coaster, and a tilt coaster is pretty similar to a dive coaster which they already have. Also cedar point has a lot of thrill coasters, and needs more family coasters. A tilt coaster would be perfect for kings island, and it’s a WAY better option than the 300ft dive coaster.
Cedar point - family thrill coaster! Like I said before I feel like they need more family coasters. They just added TT2 which is supposed to be scary, and not for younger visitors. Adding another thrill coaster Is just not really the best idea. If they don’t have any water rides, a water coaster would also be a good idea.
I’m really hoping that 300ft dive coaster is not added to any of the 3 (especially cedar point) I get it’s the worlds FIRST Giga dive coaster but if they really wanted to build that, do It at another park like six flags or something. Or maybe Michigans adventure. Now Taylor, and Sarah would have another reason to re-visit Michigan adventure.

I’d do one of the new drop rapids rides (like infinity falls) at Carowinds.
KI I would love a one of 2 ideas both involving the old Crypt building and theming the ride as Phantoms Theater. 1. A launched Vekoma flyer starting with a themed preshow and launching out of the old crypt entrance through diamondbacks helix into a corkscrew over the track then a mess of 4000+ ft of track in the old vortex plot before traversing back to the back side of the crypt building.
Or use a small portion of vortex’s plot and build a zierer family coaster station that launches up into an airtime hill through diamondbacks helix then goes into the old crypt entrance into a phantom theater themed experience. Then a drop track and you launch out of the back of the building into some turns and airtime hills going through The Beasts lift hill structure to get back to the Vortex Plot.
And at CP I’d love to see them at a GCI twister on millennium island. Or take the plot where wildcat used to sit, plus through parts of valravn, and the empty plot from the old dorms and do one of the new Mack striker coasters (as voltron looks cool$
