My fabric bowl and cover are drying now. I actually put a kraft brown folder away for the project, so I was very pleased you and Luise went this way. Can't wait to see the results in the morning and put my scraps in the bowl. I am ready for Dephemerember 😀

I have been looking for a soft cover binder for years! Who knew I could make my own! I made one following your video and I am absolutely in love with the process. I bought separate spines for the binder instead but it works amazingly well. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I thought I was satisfied with a retro A5 ringbinder I found but I then switched to cutting down a battered ringbinder and recover with fabric. I never would have thought to have done that. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love what you have done with the ring binder cover. I have made a soft cover journal for Dephemerember but not a ring binder. This is because my arthritic , shaky fingers don't manage ring binders very well. I can't ❤❤wait for the prompt list.❤❤

I’m having a bit of a tough time but there is one thing I’m definitely looking forward to: dephemerember! Crafting always lightens my mood 🥰
This year, I’ve made a December journal with allll the colours, not vintage and grungy at all… so I’m going to challenge myself to follow along with dephemerember in a completely different style 😱🙈 let’s hope it works out and I will definitely have fun with all your videos 💜

You always have the most gorgeous fabrics for your journals! I like the patchwork cover you made this time. I've found an online shop in the US that carries Tim Holtz and Seth Apter fabrics. It's called the Fat Quarter Shop, and their prices seem reasonable. Also, two women quilters I met at a craft show this past summer just gifted me a shopping bag full of their fabric scraps! When I asked them last August what they did with their scraps, they couldn't believe I actually wanted them. Hooray!
Knowing how fat your journals usually become, I'm surprised you didn't choose a 3-inch ring binder for Dephemerember!

Love the way you’ve created the best of both worlds by using the ring binder & making a soft cover. I’m tempted to cut the ring binder section off the covers, then glue the hard pieces onto fabric with a gap between the ring section & the covers, to make a firm fabric cover with a flexible spine so the journal lies completely flat but is extra durable 🤔

I created my glued fabric container using a small box. The sides are too short to hold anything beyond 3” high, lol. However, it turned out to be perfect size to hold tea bags in the kitchen drawer. So it’s a win one way or another, lol. Love your new Digitals and I might use the Dephemerember fun to create something for next years journaling.

At first I thought you were gonna cut the hard cover off (which you did) then reattach the boards with fabric to make the journal more openable. ...but then I love the soft cover as well! What's a girl to do?? I'm severely in love with that bowl, I mean, REALLY! like i'm considering trashing my chores for the day to make one! ...nay, make SOME! oh girl, i MUST stay in the loop! Ich bin schon wahnsinnig gespannt auf den Dephemerember. Dein Cover ist sehr schön geworden, auch wenn du die Idee nicht ganz so toll gefunden hast, scheinst du ja für dich eine gute Lösung für dich gefunden zu haben. Das sind sehr schöne Stoffe, die du verwendet hast. Ich habe mein Cover diesmal auch mit gerissenem Stoff verschönert. Hatte erst überlegt, es so ähnlich wie du zu machen, wegen dem Nähen, das mir fehlte, hab mich dann aber dagegen entschieden. Den Refresher nutze ich nur für meine Inks aber nicht für die Oxides… Gut zu wissen, dass das funktioniert.

I love the way that you made this binder. These are my favourite colours as well Barbara. Ephy is such an adorable addition. So here’s a weird English thing. (I was a teacher for thirty years and taught many students who’s first language was not English). Your English is so immaculate I hate to mention this but I feel as if you just might want to know. There is a word in English that is width but there is not a word heighth. It is height. I know, English is a horrible language to learn because so many rules are broken all of the time! 😖 🤗🇨🇦🤗

I am inspired to try a ring binder style journal. I have seen the ring spines for sale at different craft stores so I guess I’m going shopping! In the meantime I am prepping some of the printouts and following the videos Thanks for sharing! Your cover is amazing!
Fab job, Barbara. I did something similar using individual rings and book pages, however I don't like the way the rings bounce around making the whole thing a little cumbersome. I think I'll try your version. Veronica x 😊

Thats why i have decided to make a travel journal style book for dephamerember. All the advantages of the binder but no spine to make and the freedom to put in or take out papers.
