Higgins and Samuelsson were both so underrated while they were here as players. Good to see them both still making an impact for this franchise as dev coaches.

Scouting department is only part of it. They’ve overhauled their entire player development. No more players like Kole Lind, falling through the cracks. Our player development team lead by the Sedin twins and Samuelson and Higgins is the best the Canucks have ever had.
We had a good scouting department, we lost it to Minni because Benning never gave them credit for anything and got pissy when the scouts claimed the credit due to them.
Higgins was my fav Canuck when he was a player. So happy he chose to stick with the team.
Love seeing some great ex canucks coaching the next generation, I like the approach they had on the quick 1on1 talks
Love these behind the scenes videos! JL is a great pick and can’t wait to see how he turns out. It finally feels like the Canucks have quality leadership and mentors for these kids in Higgins, Komerserik and the twins. Love to see it

2:42 everyone should be listening to, the archaic days of drafting players because of compete and character are hopefully dying. Glad to see alvin mention everyone competes at the nhl, you need to draft on skill.
You can build character and compete but you can't build raw talent and skill
I've been thinking about this comment since I read it during the summer. Suddenly compete and character seem to be a thing that maybe the Canucks should not ignore.
@@crbrearley Could you give some examples? if you are thinking of miller or the locker room in general sure...but its incredibly hard to draft 17 year olds based on compete and character, and this comment was about the draft. I think at the pro level it becomes more of a concern especially trades. Drafting is so hard and so difficult to predict, you just cant draft based on a kids character, you have to draft on skill. Benning on the other hand overvalued character and compete to the point many players failed because they simply were not good enough skill wise to be in the nhl. Of course there are extremes, if the player made a racist comment or something that should not be tolerated no matter the age.

4:10 women definitely belong in management roles at the nhl level. I mean, my mom drove me to and from and watched every hockey game I've played in, from age 5 through high school. Thats a lot of hockey experience. Hockey moms are committed. My mom even watched the games I reffed.

Did the grind I'm grade 10 in 1994 and a bunch of us dropped acid, best experience high of my life, except for when a classmate had to get evacced back down because he was fat and out of shape and in our high state of mind thought he was gonna die.

Move out salary already. Every other team seems to be able to do it. Why can’t we ever do it?
Because this organization hasn't had any leverage in a while as we are always against the cap, with other teams knowing that, it makes us usually having to give up more than what we get back. Other teams aren't going to do any favors for us. Sometimes you just have to wait out a contract like Myers and maybe resign him for like 3.5 - 4million. I can't seethe organization having OEL stay another 6 years at that price

Terrible overpay for Brock Bowser AGAIN, now they are stuck with his lead feet for 3 more years, would have been better to overpay JT to keep him as he has a couple more premium years left in him and let Bowser walk for nothing if necessary, and THEN worry about what to put on Bowser's wing.
