Another victim of senseless violence. When will it stop? I myself was shot in my right calf back in 2021 just coming off the F Train in Dumbo Brooklyn. No one was ever charged and I have to live with a bullet in my leg because they said it could not be removed. No compensation or anything for my injuries not to mentioned that my 24KT Gold Chain was removed along with a 99% Silver Buckle that belong to my dad from WW2 was taken while I was at the hospital and I was never able to recover my items. The wrong people are arming themselves all over the US and it should be a wake-up call for true americans.

You can’t even trust the people that are suppose to be helping you either in moments of need. It’s disgusting. I had an encounter with a homeless man on the 6 as well. He came after me with a knife, but I was able to protect myself with this huge duffle bag and scare him away. Another problem on our subways are the lack of surveillance cameras. Most of them don’t work!!! It’s disgusting.

That isna very isolated train station. I had to get off there years ago and had to have my head on a swivel. Both the train station and the neighborhood outsde are dangerous.

Subways have been unsafe since the 80s that’s why anyone going into Manhattan with any decency takes the metro North.. The Bronx has been going down since the late 70s. I feel bad for people like my father who is 84 years old who talks about the Bronx and Howard used to be and I used to get mad at the way he talked about it but now I understand. If I saw something so beautiful, like the grand concourse was named the grand concourse for a reason and see people destroy it, I would be discussed as well you live someplace and all of a sudden people come and destroy it and make it not even livable anymore. I mean, how do you destroy the whole borough I mean is a few little spots left that are not terrible. I wouldn’t live in them anymore because it’s still way too close and you still have to deal with the same public schools. At least I could see what made my dad upset.

Since 9/11 I continue to be amazed how cameras are not in full use to help keep our neighborhoods and transportation grid, especially hub sites, safe. This city has one of the busiest airports and seaports in our Country.
These incidents are typically captured on surveillance cameras, yet the footage is withheld for fear it will foment racial animosity.

@y2588 i was there in 1990 till 1995 in NYC roosevelt island, I took the subway everyday to go to highschool. we used to hear gunfire across the city most nights and they told us it was much safer than compared to the hell hole it was in the 80's
edit before some ass says i was not there: I took the sky cabins, then went into 'metro' and then had to change into bus at times. and i was only 12 years old and going alone. at that time the bus was more safe than the subway system. we all kids got our city bus cards and metro cards.
