The silence after the guy is told his $90,000 raptor is not even close to good as the yellow banana is priceless
No matter how new the truck is you can't beat a old solid axle straight six (of any kind)
Most of the people that buy a Raptor don't understand how to use it properly. It's hilarious.
Yeah but that's BS, the Raptor is a very nice vehicle for using it as a desert runner, they are designed for that and with a good and knowledgeable driver they can go pretty much anywhere, now the XJ is one hell of a machine but they are for totally different purposes, solid front axle has it advantages mostly in twisted terrain where you need the wheels in contact with the ground as much as possible
@@pcx4545 The XJ will still outlast that Raptor
And *personally* I care about function and utility in a 4wd not onroad comfort and useless tech that hinders reliability, offroad capability and adds unnecessary weight
@@MAVORlC Come on now, that is a stock raptor. I’d be surprised if even half that Jeep is as it came off the showroom floor. Barely anything under it is even Jeep parts. Compare apples to apples.
My favourite part was watching 20 people push that Jeep out of the sand. High level of enthusiasm, keeping it 100.
Mexicans don't need tow help they have there ways to get out of sand. lol
Im sure they had to push the bus they rode from Guatemala to here on out of the sands a few times.
@@woodheat49 damn racism on the internet who would have ever thought.
I was the guy that said, "Is that your raptor over there?". We could have made it a quick and easy recovery, but the owner rudely told us to no. It was very strange to be honest... almost acted like he was too good to talk to us! I have a raptor of my own and have taken it all over the dunes. Funniest part was his tire pressure was at street level! Lol. Glad you guys were able to help!!!
There are two types of Raptor owners. Those who have it as a status vehicle and know nothing of off-roading(usually rude rich ass hats), and those who bought the truck and understand what it is capable of and how to use it correctly. I have a '19 and use it. I would never turn away anyone willing to help or give me advice on how to unfuck myself.
Imagine getting a street legal trophy truck designed for desert stuck? Dude looks arrogant, keep that character Way to offer help 👌
@@Striker50_ They're not exactly trophy trucks, but if you're getting one stuck out there you either don't know what you're doing or found yourself in a REALLY bad spot. Based on how that truck was stuck and the tire pressure, I'm sure he has zero idea wtf he is doing.
@@Striker50_ A stock raptor is not a trophy truck. Just because it can run Baja doesn't mean it's on the same level as a frame up trophy truck. Thinking you bought a trophy truck is what causes so many of these Raptors to have bent frames.
People still don’t know to lower tire pressure. How is this possible?
Dude in the Raptor was like "what's the better vehicle out here?" Seemed quite let down when they explained that the yellow banana is a force to be reckoned with.
The lady customer in the back seat says, "typical man, when he gets lost won't ask for directions"... Excuse me Ma'am, men do NOT get lost - We just don't know where we are sometimes.!
We are simply 'Temporarily Spatially Disoriented' ;) Never 'Lost'!
We know where WE are, we just don't know where everyone else is!
And 4:05 A typical woman holding her phone vertically, when she should be holding it horizontally. Maybe if she asked a man... 😲
True
We don't get lost. We explore. Typical woman. Mouthing off. Having a smart phone in hand and asking for directions. Which way is north?.
The Banana looked like a clown car when everyone started pouring out of it haha
"Why don't you use a Ranger, why don't you use a CJ, why don't you use a..." look how compact his little XJ is, how much he can cram in there and what he can pull out with. It may have looked like a milk run, but this episode shows where the Yellow Banana really shines.
Just needed to speed up the video and play some Benny Hill music.
@@BluCappy419 I once fit 8 people in my 2002 nissan sentra back in high school
5 stars for Rudy’s driving/steering in that tight squeeze! Dad, you are teaching him well!
So it's official: you are THE CZcams guy!!
Congrats.
Thank you Matt for your comment that is the number one mistake that people make out in the desert leaving their vehicle , and always bring supplies plan on getting stuck even though you might not .
And not just in high temperature climates. The same is true where I live, in the sticks up in Northern Maine. If you go out in the winter, plan to get stuck, and have an emergency kit that stays in your vehicle.
i live in a fairly urban environment, so very slight chance of anything happening. But i always have 1 24hr MRE pack in my trunk and 2 gallons of water. You never know what will happen and if you'll get home at the end of the day
3 hours to 3 days without water, 3 days to 3 weeks without food.
@@MacGyver2154 also make sure you have some form of shelter so you can have shadow when its warm but can keep warm when its cold. I have a blanket and the material to make shadow and for warmth i can use a combination of the car, blanket and if really necessary i can burn stuff
@@joshkiej6601 Be cautious when running a car and using the heat to stay warm, while stranded. The fact that your vehicle is not moving could contribute to CO poisoning, and lead to brain damage or death.
It's rare, but not uncommon, that while idling, the vehicle's heating system can pull exhaust into the system and displace it back into the interior of the vehicle. You'll drift off peacefully and that will be that.
It's easier to find a vehicle than to find a person. Good advice Matt!
Very much true!!
Also it better that a critter is chewing on you rig rather than your leg 🦵
Now he's gonna air down to 10 PSI and throw a bead and have to call Matt again.
He can't air down and get back home unless he has a 12V compressor and a tire gauge. Airing down is the easy part, it's getting home with low tires that will give you 4 flats.
@@robertnelson4755 I'm sure you mean he won't be able to air back up without those items. But he can air down with a pen and drive home on low tires since he doesn't seem to know much about off roading or his 80k dollar truck.
@@Flying_Dollar_Motorsports No, a proper air down is 6-10 pounds, off-road. You can never drive on a freeway with tires that low, they would overheat and fall apart. That's why I said yes he can air down, but WOULD NOT because he would not be able to safely drive home with proper air pressure in his tires. Then there's the tire coming off the rim thing.
@@robertnelson4755 Agreed but I don't think this guy would know any better. That's my point
@@Flying_Dollar_Motorsports Ahhhhh I see, and agree 100%. Seems he has a chit ton more money than common sense.
Thank you Matt for your comment also about staying with your vehicle. It is extremely important where I live which is in Western Australia and especially in the north of the state where it can be extremely with no shade and no water. We even have reports here of people who are so ill-prepared/desperate that they drink the coolant from their vehicle's coolant system and that never ends well. Also great to view a channel where there are on profanities and such pleasant people. Take care.
Also important in the northern USA during winter.
Came for stuck Raptors & got a stuffed banana.
Also, I would have lost it if circus music had played when everyone exited the banana.
Yakety Sax is what was in my head haha
Still time for matt to reedit lolollol
Benny Hill music. And speed it up to 1.5x
@@repoman28d do you know whom played YACKETY SAX ? BOOTS RANDOLPH he also has passed on . 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Re. "air down" to improve offroad performance - don't forget to include an "air pump" so you can air-back-up when you get back to higher traction surfaces...
Airing down for sand really does make a huge difference. A lot of people only learn this the hard way, but sometimes life's best lessons are learned that way.
Fantastic, an old Jeep Cherokee shows the $75k+ Raptors how it’s done.
A mostly home made one at that lmao
Any vehicle with the same weight distribution and tires would have been stuck the same way. There is nothing magical about the Jeep or the Raptor when it comes to traction. You can have the toughest, most powerful truck around but if your tires are spinning you're cooked.
Simple fact is, those people with a 75k truck have the money to afford the banana. Neither of them are worried. Their next purchase will be an xj and still get it stuck.
@MegaSkilla Aren't we being a tad judgmental? They didn't destroy the truck. They simply got it stuck. They are not the first people to ever get their vehicles stuck because they made a mistake in judgment.
Jeeps are overrated pieces of junk.
I guess with the whole Covid thing and malls being closed, all those Mall Crawlers have to actually off road now
Shots fired 😆😂
Hahahahahahahahaha !!!!!
Haha, good one!
Lmao 😂😂 I kinda feel bad for the guy who lost all his coolant
Got to give them credit for at least giving it a shot.
You are absolutely correct. Back before Desert Storm, we were doing field ops in 29 Palms, CA. There was a Marine who was a guide to which way vehicles were to go. He got left behind, and several hrs later when we realized it, he decided to go his own way. They founds his remains months later, several hundred yards from a highway and many many miles from where he was left. It made the national news as well.....😭
I love how respectful they are to these people who clearly already are embarrassed and feel bad... fantastic stuff
That watch gesture 🤣
he has an appointment at a hair past a freckle
The Banana is custom built for the job it does and has a driver that knows how to use it. Nice.
Not just one. Rudy is following in his father's footsteps, and Lizzy is learning fast.
@@roberthudson1959 Rudy has mechanical skills!! 👍🏽

I miss him
Matt, Rudies are always amazing guys. My grandson Rudie' Keyser 13 years old came through cancer now and is doing well. We thank our Father in Heaven.
Personally I'd thank the doctors.
@@joshmc8814 Smart ass atheist, the doctors are given a gift as we all are by God whether you believe that is irrelevant, it all depends if we xhokse to develop and use it, prayer has been proven to work miracles it's just sad that people are blinded by arrogance and hate, remember, faith is believing in something when common sense tells you not to, for instance we see the result of what taking prayer out of the schools for has done, liberals will never learn.
@@Peter-pv8xx Doctors aren't given a gift, they worked for all the skills they have. Why take your kid to a doctor if prayer works. I think of religion as a mild form of mental illness. Harmless as long as it doesn't affect me. Pray for me, please!
@@joshmc8814 We are given gifts by God whether you believe it or not as I said, if you believe otherwise then I challenge you to go to medical school and in 6 years let me know how you did, why do you suppose that some people can fix cars or whatever and others don't even know which end of a hammer you would use to bang a nail in with, our abilities come from God but until you open up your arrogant closed minded brain you'll never understand what we who believe know, let me know how medical school went for you, and as far as prayer being some sort of mental illness then me and billions of people are blessed with that illness and we wouldn't have it any other way.
If you've never been in the southwest it's honestly hard to believe just how hot it can be, how much water you need, and how disorienting the desert can be.
Australians are prepared ;)
22 years in Arizona you are so right
Good advice Matt. Here in Australia we are taught precisely that. ALWAYS stay with the vehicle. Every year we lose people who thought they could make it to help and failed. Love your channel.
I’ve been on multiple search and rescues where we found the vehicle in a matter of hours but the driver was found dead miles in the wrong direction days later
i was gong to say that about austrailia and i don't even live there. it's always easier to find a big shiny vehicle then small person walking in the sunny desert
That's because of bear Grylls
same thing in the Rockies. Papa Bear whitmore Robert whitmore was a survival expert and he went out with Channel 9 news to look for lost hunters and lost campers and he's stressed that over and over again most of the people that died because they left their tents left left their vehicle or they left where they were when they first got lost. be where you are at is what he said stay where you're at have your mind be where your body is don't make stupid decisions and don't panic panic kills sit down hug a tree or in this case hug the cactus :-) find a rock stay there stay with your vehicle yeah man
Lizzy is such a great addition 💥 bam
Thanks for all you do matt
After the first time I got stuck with nothing but an e-tool to dig with I started doing research: Max trax, big shovel, air compressor, recovery straps and a winch. I feel much more confident that if I get myself stuck again I'll be getting myself out instead of waiting for kindly strangers. Luckily Matt's around, too just in case people like me get too full of themselves. :D

The owner in the second Raptor really looked sad. Poor guy.
No kidding! His expensive truck was not only stuck 100 feet from pavement, but inoperable as well. Bad day!
Maybe it was his Dads car aaannnddd he wasn’t supposed to take it in the sand.
His first offroad experience was to drive off the road and immediately get stuck then pop a coolant hose lmao. Probably regretting spending so much 🤣
I'm dying to know if he burned the engine before he realized the coolant was gone, in any event, payments were high enough, and he can't really afford to fix it.
And funny how Mexicans don't need tow help they have there ways to get out of sand. lol
absolutely correct. Stay with your vehicle. It can provide shelter from the elements, its larger and easier to find, and it can reduce the amount of time a person is exposed because theres not two things to go look for

Good solid advice. Really appreciate the mention of safety in the desert and exposure.
No just the desert. Every year we lose a few people that walk away from a vehicle or snowmobile in the winter
I like the fact that the guys is trying to make himself feel better about dropping so many bands on the raptor by asking technical questions. Like why the hell are you even out there in the first place if you didnt know to air down Richie rich!

Just had my first “Matt” moment yesterday. We got hit with the big winter storm, I’m sure you guys in Hurricane did too. Went from t-shirt weather to blizzard with in an hour. I was on my way out to the pavement on a gravel road and came upon a “Cruise America” rental buried to the frame in the adobe mud. I stopped to ask them if they needed help, while trying to keep my laughing in check because of the Cruise America factor of your videos. They asked me how to get it out, I replied “I dunno, I don’t think Matt comes to Western Colorado.” They actually got my reference and we all laughed. A ride to town was the best I could do but it was a Matt’s Off Road Recovery moment for sure minus me pulling them out😂. Love the videos keep up the good work!

Best advice ever STAY with your vehicle, living in AZ we find vehicles out in the desert days and weeks before we find the bodies IF the bodies are found.
Same in outback Australia.
Fellow AZ DesertRat here, can confirm. Nothing worse then finding an empty car and fat vultures.
You NEVER disappoint Matt. You have a great crew each with many talents and skills of their own. Just like you. Another great video! Thank you. Your warning to your viewers to stay with their vehicle is so wise. Many visitors to the desert or so unaware of the dangers it holds.
Really appreciate the unit conversions :)
Such wise advice. Here in outback Australia your vehicle is your lifesaver. It can be see much easier than a person lying in the sand, dying of thirst. We have some additional rules. zRed smoke flares, VHF/HF radio, 20ltr jerrycan of water and 3 days emergency rations. Out here the only cellphone reception is in town and that might be 300km away.
It always feels like I'm part of the family for some reason and I love all of you 🤔.. Must be the 4x4 bloodline of having fun while working 👌
Rudy really stepped it up in this one! Threading the needle w/ that Raptor
I agree on the stay with your vehicle. As a Canadian we preach that in winter. Another great video as usual!!

Over the last few months, I have watched this several times. You gotta love someone that wears spurs to a recovery.
I was gonna ask why she was wearing spurs....
@@garretwhansen She competes in rodeos, and probably wasn't able to change boots. Remember, that first recovery was part rescue.
Greetings from Mesquite. Thanks for the stickers the other day!
I live, work, and play in the UAE. We play and camp in the desert. The rules to stay alive in the desert are always carry enough water for at least 3 days more than you intend to stay for each person and/or dog in the vehicle. Never go into the desert with less than 3 vehicles. A second vehicle can easily get stuck helping the first one that is stuck or broken. Also, if you do go into the desert by yourself, you are foolish but if you do, never leave your vehicle if stuck. More importantly, remember that EVERYONE gets stuck one time or another. No one is immune regardless of your vehicle or how well you think you drive.
One more thing; if you want to go into the desert, you take a Land Rover, if you want to come back out, you take a Landcruiser.😉

There's 2 things that I've learned doing offroad in Australia harsh outback is: 1 NEVER ever leave you vehicle if you're stuck and always go in the outback with someone else never alone!
You know what, this is 1 of my favorite channels here. AND, some think it harsh but staying with your car is more likely to save your life than walking away.
