Why a Newmar Instead of a Tiffin For Our New Motorhome

  • Why a Newmar Instead of a Tiffin For Our New Motorhome
    Since we released last week's video revealing our new 2021 Newmar New Aire, we had a lot of people ask why we chose a Newmar motorhome instead of another Tiffin motorhome. We owned our 2017 Tiffin Breeze for 3 years and it was our full time home for 2.5 of those years. We loved our time with our Tiffin. It took good care of us, was comfortable, reliable, and took us everywhere we wanted to go. And we cannot say enough about the Tiffin customer service... it was outstanding.
    So if we loved our Tiffin experience so much, why didn't we buy another Tiffin motorhome? Why did we choose to buy a Newmar New Aire instead of a new Tiffin Breeze or another Tiffin motorhome as our new full time RV home?
    Why we bought a Newmar not a Tiffin... That's the topic of this week's Wingin' It!

    We used to have a newmar and loved every second of it. Once we went away and when we came back there was a loud party going on in the pavilion next to us. We were worried we would have to move what with 2 very large windows across from each other in the rig. When we got inside it was QUIET, we could not believe it, so well insulated. Ours was 24 feet, I think they only made them for 2 years. So rare a dealer wanted us to bring it in for him to see it, he had heard of it but never seen one in person. Never found anything built as well as the newmar quality.

    While I liked Newmar’s wall construction method vs Tiffin’s laminated wall construction the Tiffin Red floor plan and furniture comfort won out vs the Newmar Ventana Le when we orderedour Tiffin Red 37pa in April 2019. We couldn’t afford a New Aire or Dutch Star. Another issue was Newmar cabinets in the slides which are better insulated but are not very tall so storage was limited vs Tiffin cabinets. I don’t think Tiffin does a super job on chalking seams vs Newmar and while paint is good on Tiffin I think Newmar does a better job. While we got decent service for our first year warranty at Red Bay last year during covid restrictions this year several items were not repaired as we only got one of those 3 hour/ two technician service bay slots. They were minor items and we moved on to meet reservations. We would’ve had to stay another week or more and we had already waited a week before being called in. Our Red is less than two years old. I should’ve allocated a month for being in Red Bay. I understand Newmar’s service center you can make an appointment so you are not hanging around. We don’t use Tiffin dealers as they are not that good and take forever to service your coach, not good for full timers like us, so we try to hit Red Bay once a year and also get service at Bay Diesel. While our coach is 39’ long we are able to get into a lot of COE campgrounds and state parks. I perform a lot of research insuring campsites are long enough and are level. We had 1050w of solar and 400 amp hr of lithium installed last October and plan to use it in Colorado this summer at several federal campgrounds that don’t offer hook ups. We book at least 6 months in advance everywhere we go. I is very crowded everywhere especially weekends.

      Congrats on your solar set up. We are looking forward to hitting the road with ours once it's completed. Red Bay was part of our annual tour as well. Now we'll be coming to Indiana yearly. We had Tiffin 3 times and had huge issues , besides the terrible service facility and the reason Thor bought it out we are done.
    Newmar has a beautiful service facility and it’s by appointment only, wonderful.
    More folks then ever are on the road now and we hear all over its hard to find campgrounds.
    We went back to the house after 5 years and now just go part time with a cheap camper.
    Congratulations anyways and best of luck to you , diesels can get very costly in the future.

      @@rvamericayall we just bought a new HR class A rv, we where lucky that the previous deal just fell through , it’s gas, we bought a Rv port and house so we are not full time anymore.
      Listen to the podcast from RVLifestyle, it’s interesting to say the least

    Hey Tom and Stacy, Congratulations on your Newmar! I know you mentioned on your video that wanted your coach to be all electric without propane. I guess that means that you will need to run your generator or shore power to run an electric furnace during the colder months. Also, you won't need any propane to run your Davy Crockett wood pellet grill....If you have or decide to buy a propane firepit, you can always use a portable tank for that. Once again, Congratulations!

      Hi Homer! I think we'll probably be sharing more about our decision to go all electric in a future episode of Wingin' It! We're currently installing a solar and lithium system that will give us more flexibility.

      The New Aire uses a diesel fired boiler for space heating and hot water with electric as back-up for when shore power is available.

    Great presentation! You have a fantastic coach . The Tiffin Breeze comes close, but does not offer the luxury options and standard equipment that New Aire has. Best, Steve & Deb from Western Mass.

    When in Elkhart, I don't recommend Hoosier Mex. Other than that, nice area and people, just don't be surprised if you get comments on your accent. I know, what accent? Just say, I'm from Texas and wait for the smile, eyes rolling and a, I think I figured that out. Looking forward to the solar panel LiFe addition. It's something on my wish list for our next RV.

    Not knocking Tiffin as I own one. My Itasca Suncruiser had a better build; plus I could get all the drawings for systems in the rig for repairs and troubleshooting. Newmar is a step up in IMO. It's awesome how you can customize a Newmar. Neemars installation is awesome. I've read where people say they coach is cooler in the summer, warmer in winter and they cannot hear normal rain fall. You all got my dream coach. Just like you I wanted the Tiffin 37 Bus but it's too big. Looking forward to the walk through and PV videos. If I get on like yours - it's all your fault!

      @rvamericayall  Pƙed 3 lety

      LOL! We are really impressed by how much we were able to customize with Newmar. And yes, we can already see a difference with the insulation. But you do lose storage height in the cabinets because of that. This is our dream coach also. 😁

    Just tuned in, I do think Newmar makes the best, and we like the 3609 but we don't want gas, we want Diesel. Is it possible to get Newmar to swap out the gas for diesel? Our budget it 250k max, but definitely gas is out.

    Seeing what happened to Airstream quality once they were bought out by Thor I expect similar issues with Tiffin now that they also have also been bought by Thor Industries. Winnebago bought Newmar about a year or two ago. BTW, both Newmar and Tiffin were sold for about the same price: $344 million for Newmar and $300 million or so million for Tiffin.

    Hi Y’all. My wife and I are deciding between a Tiffen 35 Bus and the New Aire 35. We would love to hear your view of New Aire vs Tiffen now that you’ve logged miles on both.

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  Pƙed 2 lety

      I believe the Tiffin is really 37 feet so we think the 35 foot Newmar would be better because of size with the same engine. From our experience I believe the insulation is also better in the Newmar making it a quiter ride. Just our opinion but don’t think you could go wrong either way! Good luck!

    What I would like to know. Knowing y'all are known CZcamsrs that live in your RV full time, will Newmar honor their warranty?
