@@LucasSantos-ie4qg Think you're asking the wrong person . I actually know where you can get decent Greek-style swords, but this isn't one of them. Try Kult of Athena, Medieval Collectibles or Windlass Steelcrafts....
Waste of metal, heavy, and your hand is going to hurt alot swinging it against anything solid. Could have made 2 Nice daggers instead of this handle. But welp.. Hollywood shenanigans
@@harrisonmorandin5980 it’s going to set the balance of the sword off completely, atleast making it have less cutting power then it would with a wooden handle, due to the centre of balance
@harrisonmorandin5980 just because he's a swordsmith, doesn't mean he can't ge told how to make a sword. He did a realistically terrible job. Though he's basing it off a movie, so there's that at least.
It’s how they were made back then, with bronze blades and handles. I used steel of course. It’s balanced just above the handle at the ricasso, perfecto! 🔥
I always have trouble getting the tang flat for scales without grinding into the rest of the blade while trying to keep the scale on. Any pointers would be great fellas. 👍
Not sure if i understand the problem your having but if you just want that smithed look on the tang, you can still grind it flat then just chuck it back in the forge to a yellow heat and quench it off, easy scale.
@sammidwood404 i have one. One side is always off. Maybe I need to give up on the tapered tangs and leave more meat? It's always in the back where it's thinnest that one side is flat and one side is slightly off. Can't seem to figure it out. I've seen some people put it in a vice and upset the ends to add more mass??? I don't know. Then trying to taper the tang while leaving the forge scale on the blade part is another nightmare for me. I try to use as little steel as possible and stretch the stock out to get the length I need. Maybe I need to just give myself more material until I get better. Thanks for the input though bud.
@barenjager9678 I want to leave the blade part un-touched to keep the forged look. It always seems such a shame when I see someone forge a beautiful blade and then erase all of the evidence by grinding it all away. I've tried adding it back into the forge again after ive accidentally ground into my blade a bit, but i can still always see the grind marks. I want to make an authentic hand forged blade and not these forged finish imposters people have been pumping out.
@@jusme8060 well all i can tell is that theres no such thing as perfect. Ive been doing this close to a decade and I'm still not perfect. But nomatter how I go I always leave evidence of the forge.

He even went as far as to use a realistic ancient Greek 2 x 72" belt grinder.
😂😂😂
Even though it’s not exactly historically accurate, I’ve always loved Achilles’ sword from Troy
Interesting. Looks well-made, but I think you have a _very_ different idea of swords than the Greeks did....
It is the sword of Achilles, from the movie "Troy".
@@anshumandhingan6277 Fair enough. So a sword designed by Hollywood....

Ah the good old full steel handle and the after tempering forgeheating. Even the best antic baldesmith couldn't have done any better
That’s cool and all, but I guarante that handle is incredibly uncomfortable.

実際古代では、鍛造のブロンズソードがあったとか。
Good luck testing it your hands going to rattle like crazy
Might want to sand some of those rivets down more.
These were both excellent blades
Steel scales. Looks comfy.
You mean Achilles's sword from the film Troy? No Xiphos, Kopis or Makhaira ever looked like this lmao
Yes 🤘🔥 Thanks!
HOLY CRAP THAT BLADE IS A MASTERPIECE
That's a handle only a mama could love.

How did blacksmiths sharpen a knife if they didn't have belt sanders and grinders before they were invented?
...hand crank rotary wetstone...you might want a TOMEK.
That's going to be unbelievably heavy with those metal handles you should have used like wood or something
Not sure you should be telling a swordsmith how to make a sword, also the sword is like maybe a foot long it’s not heavy eitherway😂

Well done! Beautiful piece!
It looks amazing, but I think wooden handle scales would be better.
Achilles artisan is really insane
Why all the extra weight for the handel? For balance? Is the blade really that heavy?

@@yellowgooseforge bcus its short just use wood
@yellowgooseforge the Greeks did more to their swords then what you did, and the handles weren't hardly that bulky.
Love the Achilles sword!
Great job 👍
killer soundtrack bro

Buy or forge yourself a flatter. Its a top tool. The only thing i use mine for is making tangs true without need for a grinder.

Wow beautiful gorgeous
the sword shape and ur forging skills are amazing but don't u think that the handle is little too bricky ?
In a museum I've seen an ancient grinder and a bandsaw.
Do you sell these, I would love to own one. How much does it weigh? Great work keep it up
