Were you reading an article? It was very well written. 🥹 Russia has so much talented figure skaters, it is such a shame that the hyper focus on jumps on female skaters has lead to ao many injuries, unstable technique, and short careers... Hopefully the sport can find a better balance between artistry and athleticism, focus on the connection with the audience, and longevity... That would be a beautiful thing. Part of the beauty of this sport is the potential for storytelling, the musicality and the variety in expression (combined with a display of strength, flexibility, stamina and control). 😢❤

Well said. Kamila for example is the greatest skater in history. Body lines and balletic movements to die for. I wish they would get rid of the quadruple jumps because they are impossible for grown women to do and it would make skaters like her who are stunningly beautiful be able to have longer careers! I will forever cherish this prodigy's performances and watch them over and over again to feel the joy and beauty of the art of figure skating

@@mewmew1132these quadruple jumps are too difficult for women to sustain as they grow. In addition, she teaches a technique where they are using their backs to propel them into the air instead of their legs. This causes major problems as they develop because it leads to severe back injuries and also they will lose a lot of their jumping abilities as they get older. The problem is that technique of jumping is taught by a coach and once it is taught it's impossible to correct because it's like muscle memory. So for anyone that criticizes the jumping technique do not fault the skaters themselves, fault the coach
