Matching the paint swatch to the secondary color on the book is next level extra! I love it! 💜

OMG! Pop socket on the back of the kindle is a GREAT idea! I ended up buying an Oasis just because of the "holding experience", but could have saved so much money if I had just invested in a pop socket! 😂

Patty-I just started using my practice pages from watercolour projects for bookmarks. I cut them up into different sizes. I was raised to never dog-ear my books. Magazines are a different story. I don't have an e-reader, kindle etc. I keep the physical book with me at all times. I keep a record on the front page as to how/where I received the book and the dates I re-read the book. I tried to keep track of my thoughts about the book after I read it, but it became too laborious and took away some of the experience from me. I've never really had an interest in audiobooks. I sometimes listen to help me understand a part of the story that isn't working for me, then I go back and read the book, which helps. I still have to read the physical book. I know. I'm old school. 😀

I also have sticky notes. Can't live without them 🙈.
Bookmarks are a definite must have. I normally get mine free from book stores.

Good accessories. I love to make my own bkmarks, occasionally will buy one , if Really good and many libraries around me make them FREE to take. Some by adults some by children. The kids ones are so cute and whimsical, fun to have. Thanks for sharing these s.

The paint swatch bookmark portion of this video was my absolute favorite! I never would have thought of using them. Even better, is the fact that you take time to color coordinate the strips with your books! A person after my own heart! 💕 I actually need to stop by the paint aisle soon. So, you know I’ll be picking up some extra strips!

Ideas don't have to be revolutionary to be interesting, and your excitement over matching your paint swatch bookmarks to books was adorable! I also read a lot faster on my device (I'm a Kobo girl) and am probably a 97% digi-reader because I find it so convenient in so many different ways. My most recent accessory is one of those gooseneck floor stands for tablets etc so that when I'm reading in bed, it's hands-free apart from page turning - which helps me become an even 'lazier' reader lol! TFS :)

About fifteen (?) years ago, I knitted cozies for my old Nook reader and also for a smallish 10"x12" Bamboo graphics tablet👣. They have some knitted-in details and handles for looping over one's wrist while carrying the all-important beverage. They were stashed away unused when I saw this video and realized they would make great book totes/sleeves/cozies/carrying-devices for both hard covers and paperbacks. Yea. Now I don't have to schlep books awkwardly or worry about stuff getting banged up in the tote bag.
👣A gadget that I've used about three times and will be giving away to a good home soon so it gets some love. Anybody want it, hollar! It's old but almost new.
Instructions: stockinette for the body, topped by about two inches of 1-1 ribbing and 3-stitch continuous knit handles. Knit in the round, or flat and either fold over or "body bag" with a blanket stitch seam in an accent color.

I annotated my first book! It was the cozy mystery bookclub pick and I might continue to do it with bookclub picks. I enjoyed it but also at the same time I felt like it made the book feel a little like homework instead of relax time.

    • @IntentionallyBookish
      @IntentionallyBookish  Před 3 lety +1

I hear ya! Definitely a happy balance. Maybe next time try marking up a book that’s not for bookclub? That may make it seem less like homework. And also don’t feel like you need to call out profound stuff! I’ve written things like “LOL, wut?!” by scenes and dialogue that makes me laugh!

Thanks for the pop thingy idea. I’m definitely going to get one for my kobo: they’ve put the power button on the bottom just where it rests on my pinkie finger so it randomly turns off while I’m reading. Pop thingy will save the day!!

Senior David Here! I only read ebooks! I always have my tea cup warmer nearby and a sheet of paper to write down a character's relation to other characters in a cozy mystery (Wish books had character indexes in the front)!
I'm trying out a new way of reading ebooks. I use the kindle app on my 27 inch computer monitor, Really like it, You don't have to hold an ebook reader in your hand and you have so much more room on a large screen and I don't have to wear glasses!!
Your videos are great and you look like you are enjoying yourself!! Please do more - David
PS - I spent the last 14 years of working at a small local library and never once read a book until I retired!!

  • @courtneyintheclassroom2241

I also match my bookmarks to my books! It's a thing! I want to try using the paint swatches for my boys though. It would be a good way for them to jot down a quote or a word that was new to them, or to make a prediction (especially during those mysteries!).
